I have a PureZone mini that I take to doctor and dentist appointments. I just got an Air Fanta 3 Pro for my room for the rare occasion I have to travel. Edit: Why the downvotes? Are these not good? Is it because I got the AFP3 to occasionally travel? I’m a 4.5 year long hauler. I don’t get to do much but when I do I try to be as safe as possible. Whatever the case, I’d appreciate knowing more instead.
r/ZeroCovidCommunity • Which portable air purifier to buy? ->Hell yes they’re helpful. Not a replacement for an N95, but in addition to. [For a hotel room, Levoit Core 300](https://a.co/d/cLACJtW) We have IQAir atoms, but they’re spendy and don’t cover as much. Will get the Levoit next time. Leave on while you’re out. Hang do not disturb sign at all times. Windows open if you can. Mask up for at least 30 minutes before taking your mask off. Just purchased the PureZone Mini linked by u/thehikinlichen to use particularly at the dentist next time I have to go. Thankfully they also have big windows that open and my dentist wears an N95. There’s a hepa in the room but who knows when they last changed the filters. This will help for sure.
r/ZeroCovidCommunity • I know this has been asked before, but are air purifiers for travel worthwhile? ->The PureZone mini has such a tiny CADR (10 cfm for dust at the highest speed, which is ridiculously noisy for how small this thing is!) that it serves as a false sense of security more than anything, especially if you're going to use it anywhere other than a small car. I'd recommend the Clean Air Kits Exhalaron (92 cfm for the 2-fan one and 128 cfm for the 3-fan one) or the AirFanta 3Pro (430 cfm at the highest setting, which is very noisy) if you have some extra space to spare (it's not as small as the Exhalaron but it is highly portable)
r/ZeroCovidCommunity • Which portable air purifier to buy? ->Thanks. I actually have a Purezone Mini that I use on my office desk (which is already a pretty low risk environment). I plan to mask through all of my flights/airport time and when on any public transport or in a public space. My main concern was for my hotel room itself - I'm okay with wearing my mask at first when I'm in there but will need to remove it to shower, sleep, etc. so wasn't sure if I needed to do more to make that environment safer. Unfortunately since I'm traveling alone and have other items to pack, space is really limited. I was looking at [this one](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CTN3ZY83/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A107XK8HFR37M1&psc=1) since it looks like it would fit in my bag, but it's an off-brand so may not be any better than nothing or my Purezone.

r/ZeroCovidCommunity • Which portable air purifier to buy? ->Warning: this post is long! I feel like so many posts can go by vibes alone or can leave out a lot of critical information on actual prevention practices. I am doing my best to give as much information as possible to help people make an informed decision that feels right to them and their life. Always open to questions and conversation as well! In my estimation we essentially live in a world without controls. I am going to share both my conclusion and the tests we run and the conditions we exist in to the best of my abilities. My partner and I are both scientific-method-motivated and these have been a debate between us for a while. I will explain our reasoning/use cases below. **The filter(s):** The air filter I use is [Pure Enrichment Mini](https://pureenrichment.com/products/purezone%E2%84%A2-mini-portable-air-purifier?srsltid=AfmBOor8qMtzAXNwPddDi6pjCQooucTHIZsBM4IPgxni7lpvxBkeLMH1) **How it started:** I first bought it in late 2022 for a family gathering that required we fly and stay in a hotel room for several days. I feel like I looked to the ends of the internet for something that hit the qualifications I wanted - small, quiet, able to pass through security, actually effective ? When I first proposed it, my partner immediately dismissed it and was like, it's a nice idea but would be like baling the ocean with a thimble - try it, but I don't think it's more functional than a white noise machine. The one I linked above is great, it fits in a cupholder, it's quiet, USB c charges, long battery life. When we arrived to our destination we both had bad allergies to something in the local environment (RAT + PCR confirmed no COVID, plus Benadryl helped immediately). I figured again it was like a safety blanket but I turned on the air filter before we went to sleep that night and we both woke up with a 95% reduction in our allergy symptoms and decided maybe it wasn't just a fan after all. **How it's going:** Since that trip, we have purchased three more of the mini air filters (they do good sales!). Although I mostly WFH, I have to commute on a train for work 2-6 times per month, and it always goes with me for the commute and any indoor shared time (I am typically lucky enough to be able to steer ~70% of my work outdoors or to conditions I find much more favorable). I also use them for random household stuff. Clean air that fits in a cupholder is nice! My partner has one that lives at his desk, as he has to do computer work in a large-ish office area when he isn't treating patients and he needs to hydrate and snack as he is wearing an N95 for the rest of his 10+ hour shifts running around multiple floors at a hospital. **How we use it:** Our "method" is to have it running on 1 while sedentary in a shared space (office, plane, train, cars, whatever) and then crank it up to 3 for 5 minutes before anticipated removal of mask for a slug of water or handful of snacks or whatever. Since we have 4, we usually run 2 at 2 speed overnight if we are sleeping in a hotel or in a room in a shared lodging or whatever. We practice the "breathing trick" people often mention on here and are conscientious of how we remove and reapply our masks. **What other precautions we take/our safety philosophies:** Our general consented 'boundaries' are no removal of mask if someone untested is within 10 feet unless absolutely necessary, and we inform each other when it happens. We wear KF94s or better whenever we share air outside the household, and typically wear them outdoors (we live in a dense urban area so our guiding principle is like how many people in a certain radius/on a block. I.e. we might wear them for the bike ride to a park and for the walk out to "our spot" because we are passing 10-15 other bikes and 25+ pedestrians per block and several hikers on the trail, but unmask once we are isolated enough to not hear or see anyone else and feel the air moving. We discuss these things a lot! Lol). We make an effort to share air only with people who have done 2 RATS 48 hours apart + isolation/masking based on their risks or activities/our general rapport tbqh. **How's it working out? C19 Infection Rate, n=2** Well, as mentioned, it really does something for the dust, per dander, and other allergens in a very immediately demonstrable way and we have been thrilled with those results alone. We have had COVID twice since we started using them (partner had it twice before) and each infection was in a situation where we were not using it due to feasibility factors. Fun fact: 3/4 infections for him are from his own coworker's indiscretions and lack of care 🙃 it's really frustrating! I have had three confirmed infections, my partner and I have successfully managed to isolate and not infect each other or our cats in our <900sf living space twice! Which feels like a victory in itself. These were a part of our mitigation efforts, though we have other air purifiers. It was nice to have something cordless to put right by the crack in the doors or that he could carry with him to the bathroom and leave running. Was it *the* reason we didn't spread it? I don't know! But it seems like a real good layer of Swiss cheese to me. **The two infections I have had that weren't brought home from neglectful HCWs were:** A (now former) friend lying to me about having symptoms and sending me a photo of a fake test before coming over for dinner in winter 2021. I caught it removing my mask to slam a cocktail at work in a crowded club in 2022 (vaxed and relaxed baby 🙃💖 ended my career and my relationship with alcohol woo). **My biggest takeaway:** Although it is kind of like a cool magical protective relic, we try not to treat it as such - like, just because it's running does not mean I can take my mask off and spend 45 minutes eating snacks and talking and licking my fingers lol. It is *added* protection. It's not legendary armor it's like +5 defense +1 stamina +1 luck *maybe*.
