There has to be some way of removing the stuff from the air, whether it's a filter (annoying to replace, can be pricey) or electrostatic/ionizing (noisy in my experience and generates potentially harmful/irritating ozone). We use a [Rabbit-Air HEPA filter system](https://www.rabbitair.com/pages/choose-your-air-purifier) and have had one for years. It's quiet and pretty efficient even if the space is larger than the rated capacity for the filter. Yes, there is the annual expense of replacing the filter but that can be budgeted for and scheduled, we change ours on the spring equinox so it's easy to remember.

We had a [Rabbit Air filter system](https://www.rabbitair.com/) when we were raising and showing bunnies. It was very quiet and really kept the dander and loose hair under control. Unfortunately I don't remember the model we had but it was wall mounted.

I didn’t bother with HomeKit for the one I got. It has enough sensors that it adjusts for speed automatically and will go into sleep mode automatically after a few minutes of darkness. The model I have is not wall mountable, but there is a similar model from RabbitAir that has a wall mount option. I’ve used those in some of our stores.

These really are the "buy it for life" ones. RabbitAir are amazing too, at least from a longevity standpoint. I bought my MinusA2 somewhere around 2010 or 2011 and it's still going strong today.

Seconding Rabbit Air. I have a Minus A2 with a VOC filter package that I need to vacuum weekly as it becomes caked with dog hair. I also have their entry level BioGS that’s now 18 years old and works flawlessly. They have excellent customer service too. I also have a Coway Amega, which works just fine in my little foyer, but it’s not as impressive as the Rabbit minus A2.

id get the "rabbit air" air purifier. i have 4 after my allergies went away completely when i put one in my bedroom. they aren't cheap but well worth the money. they are extremely quiet and have several layers of filters. they have a layer of filter you can get especially for pets. it helped tremendously with pet dander. highly recommended them and they have great customer service for any questions you may have. get you square footage so you get the right size. they are based out of california.

I purchased one minus a2 before it had wifi which is still in the bedroom, a newer wifi capable minus a2 for the outbuilding, the a3 ultra quiet for the living room and kitchen, and a bioGs2 for my ex-wife's office that had bad air quality and was able to get locked up in her office. this was over at least an eight year time period. The original still works just like day one.

Been using a RabbitAir 2 since 2017 and with filter replacements yearly and cleaning the sensor it still runs like new. Recently wall mounted near my toddler son's bed and its silent mode at night is still unparalleled. Worth it.

They are solid choices but very expensive to operate. in order for an air purifier to do its job properly. It is supposed to run 24 hours a day. With the use of their purifiers your replacing their filters numerous times a year. I think it’s somewhere between 3000 and 4000 hours. you can find much better options that will cost less to run and still be very good. What is your budget for an air purifier? The other thing you want to take into consideration, is you overall operating cost. How much is it gonna cost to replace filters on each purifier every year when you run it 24/7. Some brands like Rabbit Air have some as well as Alen that only need annual filter changes but the upfront cost is more. I have a Rabbit Air Minus A2 and Minus A3 as well as an Oransi Mod but it is 2 times per year . Though I must say the Oransi filter is amazing. The Rabbit Air cost me $100 and $120 per year for filters and the Oransi depending on sales runs about $130 to $150. These are just 2 brands. That I have but there are other amazing ones that won't cost you so much as well. Can you tell me what you are looking for one for and your budget and I can help with recommendations if you're interested.

They are so nice. I’ve had my first one for many many years and you can tell a HUGE difference with it, especially since cockatiels are so dusty.

Honestly, the rabbit air A2 performance is bonkers. We live in Montana, where the wildfires in the summer blow smoke into our town and the whole outside smells like a barbecue. I have had my first a2 for many years and it is still going strong. The only issue is that the birds have their own room and at night the door gets closed so they can sleep better so we got one for the living room too. Just walking from the hallway into our apartment there is a huge difference and the smoke level is non-existent. We have it on turbo 24/7 and love it. My birds have had 0 respiratory issues since purchasing it, my allergies have been so much better too between using this and wearing a mask out. I also have not gotten my April/October sinus infections since using this. I also was able to get off of my antihistamines too! This is the brand that my AVMA avian vet recommends.

r/BuyItForLifeThe Best Air Purifier on the Market? Recommendation?

I’ve had the Rabbit Air A2 Minus for about ten years now and it has been fantastic. It’s mounted to a wall and has been running on auto for the whole ten years except during prefilter cleaning every couple months and annual filter changes. It’s quiet, though you can hear it ramp up the speed for a few minutes if you burn food in the kitchen. It’s certainly made a very noticeable improvement in our indoor air quality.
