Complete and utter rip off - its a 17 watt LED, not near enough power to do anything to air as there is very little contact time with the UV light. It *might* keep shit in check on your coils if your system is prone to that since surface shit on coil has longer contact time. But for "in duct" you will see no benefits. Its also a $575 light that outputs less UV than a $100 under coil UV lamp. The only thing on the $100 one is that ya burn out lamps every 3 years or so (cost is $50 for lamp). For those saying this is worth it, please look up the studies that show contact time needed to kill microbes/virus/spore in air and tell me how you are going to get that contact time in a return or plenum . . .

you are 100% accurate. They lied, lost and now removed the the original bullshit statements and just replaced it with shit like: "hey this was put in a chamber with live bacteria for hours and all the bacteria died" - no shit, most bacteria are not viable in water drops that dry down to nothing for hours. . . . The survive on the well meaning, but misinformed users and installers.

It is legit questionable if the Halo has sufficient enough intensity to even disinfect surfaces. Real lamps that output 50W UVC do a good job. Halo, which is 17W total unit input, and leds are more UVA and a very tiny amount of UVC likely do not have enough UVC to reliability do shit. Thats another thing people should know, LED air purifiers are just a light show, as LEDS produce the wrong wavelength for effective sterilization. Full disclaimer, my info is more than 5 years old and LED tech does change in spurts often, but since this HALO bullshit is older than that - their system falls within that time range. . .

Re - UVB/C bulbs - it will not treat air passing over the light, there is not enough contact time. It will keep shit from growing on your coils if installed under them though - but most systems dont have shit growing on the coils to begin with - more of an issue in subtropics/tropics.

no, no they dont, there is no such thing as "vaporous hydrogen peroxide" You can vaporize H2O2, you dont make H2O2 with low intensity UV. . . tis bullshit I tell ya, simply bullshit . . . UV light also converts vaporize H2O2 to hydroxyl radicals, so there goes that theory as well - you also need vaporized H2O2 as well, which you lack in a duct . . . To kill bacterial at low temperature (<40C) with vaporized H2O2 also takes HOURS with a continuous concentration (loads of sterilization studies support this), where do you get that contact time?

Worth it. I’m an hvac tech and when I moved last December it was the first thing I did. Immediately noticed the difference and my filters come out sooo filthy, but this is a good thing because it’s the air cleaner ionizing the air, which makes my filter do a better job. But it really depends, if you’re sensitive to allergies like me and my son, you’ll enjoy it a lot more than others that much I can say from experience. My wife didn’t notice a difference

I had one of these installed made this weird smell don't feel like it did much it was like 1k installed and 300$ to replace bulb every 2 years, I turned it off after a year and haven't plugged it back in since, it's way better to just to upgrade filter cabinet to 5" and use higher merv rated media, make sure it doesn't increase your static pressure by much, you can buy better filter for 5 years before cost of 1 bulb pays for itself anyways I already had big filter cabinet and just upgraded my filter from 3.5" merv 8 to 4.75" merv 11

Yeah no UV technology (that is actually worth it) is ever going to be that inexpensive. The REME Halo LED is in a league of its own. So much so I installed this at my house.

I went with a whole house filtration system, the Reme Halo LED. Far more effective solution and more cost effective than putting filters in multiple rooms.  It does wonders for allergies and pet smells

That's 400 dollars for a device that handles 1 room not your whole house. I'm not the biggest fan of tge HALOs either, the housing is plastic so the uv light from unit causes the housing to get brittle and they usually break at around 5 to 6 years in my experience. I prefer models that have metal housings like the photomax or air scrubber. If you want the best equipment some companies have air cleaner options that include uv lamps that run on high voltage (120/240) paired with a catalyst unit, those are the best.

I am an HVAC tech and have one, got it during a training for free so that helps. Don’t install it for like a year. I was getting headaches several times a week, waking up that way, pretty bad sinus headaches. Nothing new for me, it’s been that way all my life, but it seemed to be getting worse, more frequent I got to thinking about being in this new apartment and looked in the ductwork finally. My apartment has definite mold in the ducts, quite a bit actually. So I finally installed it and in the last month have only had one headache. They’re legit. I’ve sold many but I’m almost an evangelist for them now.

That’s not how halos work, friend. They produce vaporous hydrogen peroxide using the light. It’s not using the light for direct kill.

They are worth it if you can afford it. It will help clean the air and keep smells on the home down. Also you will notice your changing your filter more often but that is a good thing. Rgf does not sell online to the public so if you buy one online it doesn't come with a warranty. That is what there rep told me.

I have one and the smell from cooking goes away much faster in my home. The cheap loser developers didn’t put a range hood in my kitchen, in a modern apt. They just stuck a useless microwave with a fan there. Ffs. So I’ve been pricing out options - installing a real overhead duct and good is like an entire kitchen remodel. I figured I’d try this before spending 10-20k to do the duct and venting system. It really did make a difference in the smell. Not sure about anything else as that’s the only reason I had it installed. Pretty new for me I’ll come back here later if I have more to report

It’s a good product but majority of companies will want to charge around $1200. IAQ products are usually to push sales with large margins.

It works I would look for Active air dust free over the Halo product. The ballast fail often. I would also stay away from LED. The LED isn’t intense enough to oxidize on the titanium cage.

Do your own research. The Halo Air scrubber Respicaire These are the most common, at least in my area. I’ve personally used and sold them all.
