I get free IAQ devices from work all the time to test out. Currently have an i-wave, reme halo, and guardian air hooked up. Only noticeable difference is my coil stays clean. Other than that, I think most IAQ devices are snake oil. If you really want something that works, hepa filtration is about the only thing truly proven.

I can't believe I didn't see it yet, I scrolled a little ways. An air scrubber. Like an air purifier, but you want an air scrubber. Aerus air scrubber or Reme Halo. It's whole home air purification. Talk to your local HVAC people and have them put one in. This is a no brainer if you have a few cats. Best decision you will ever make.

Reme Halo. It works. I was shocked. This house smelled like an ash tray, I put 1 in, set the fan to on, checked back with customer 2 weeks later, she started crying because the smell was gone.

I have an Active Air, and it did help with cooking smells, but I agree that a carbon filter will outperform it if odors are your main concern. Where Active Air really proves its value is with pets. I have dogs, and that’s where I noticed the biggest difference. It kills bacteria, ionizes particles like dander and dust, and helps them drop out of the air or get pulled into your filter instead of floating around. For food smells, it’s fine... just not the top benefit of the product. The downside with switching to a carbon filter is that when you prioritize odor reduction over filtration performance, you can end up with a dirtier system over time. It depends on the brand and design, but it’s something to keep in mind. But, good news is Active Air also makes a carbon-focused version that’s supposed to handle odors better. If you want more noticeable scent control, you could also look at scented supply vents or scented filters. Overall, I recommend the Gold Active Air. I’ve tried other professional-grade purifiers like REME and Air Scrubber because of my weaker immune system & allergies, and this one has given me the best results.
