"The light ring that indicates a change in air quality does change when I cook. I’m in an apartment. The unit is in my living room. But it takes a good 40 min to an hour to get back to 100 %. I would think that’s just the natural time of the air clearing. No help from the unit."

"It advertises as lasting 5 years between changes, but I think that is inaccurate because each environment is different. I think mine will need yearly or bi-yearly changes."

"But no, it’s not actually never-change, you will eventually have to replace the hepa, I think they say 5 yrs but all depends on"

"Sensors read poor air quality all the time so the unit was running non stop."

"I tried it and returned it. I wanted to use its auto mode. But it doesn't seem to ever turn on by itself. Since that's the primary reason I wanted that model, it just didn't work out."

The Coway is designed for rooms up to 361 sq ft, so I would get one of them for each bedroom if you need smoke filtered out 24/7. I have a Shark HP200 for my main space, which is supposed to be effective for 1000ft^2 , but I can’t really recommend that as the filters are super expensive ($80+). I also have a Medify Air MA-25 for my office, but a bearing or something went bad in it so it rattles slightly. Filters for that are also pricey considering its size.

Shark has never change filter air purifiers on their clean sense IQ models now and they have built in air quality sensors and auto mode which is economical as it only turns on the fan when it senses something in the air. Also it has a button to switch between air quality views and show you what (PM 10, PM .5, PM 1) is fouling up the air quality. Also shows time to clean air and percentage of the air that's clean. I have two of them. I also have two of the Vornado AC350's. Their filter replacement are reasonable and the carbon filter can be easily upgraded on Amazon for a reasonable price.

I got a great Black Friday deal on the Shark Max last year. No apps and filters seem to be available through Shark and third parties easily. Yet to see how long it will last but I don’t do see any issues.

I bought a Coway Airmega 200M about a year ago because it’s been Wirecutter’s number one pick for years. I have one cat and two dogs and I popped the cover off and clean the pre-screen. It tells me enough to know that it’s doing something amazing. I vacuum daily because I am horrified by potential animal smell, and the debris and dust. I decided I needed another for the back portion of the house and I got a shark air max which should theoretically cover a lot more area . I adore shark vacuums because they do well by my long coat dogs. Fast-forward two weeks, I returned the shark and got another Coway. If you have pets, that washable pre-filter is invaluable.

I bought the Shark Hepa Max couple weeks ago for the same price. It works good but i returned it and bought the Dyson TP07. I got it for $335 brand new. Go to Dyson's website and sign up for their news letter and text message and you'll receive a 10% off code. It works on sale products.

I bought one. Not so sure it works. The light ring that indicates a change in air quality does change when I cook. I’m in an apartment. The unit is in my living room. But it takes a good 40 min to an hour to get back to 100 %. I would think that’s just the natural time of the air clearing. No help from the unit. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also I just put it in the bathroom w my bf while he poops. No change in the air reading or smell of the bathroom. After this test I am returning.

r/homeownersThe Best Air Purifier for Home to Buy now? Do you find the air in your house actually better since you started using it?

I have two Shark ones too, I'm happy with them. One is also near my cat's litter box, mainly because I'm super paranoid about my house smelling for guests. I've visited too many homes over the years that look clean, but are definitely smelly. I know when you're the one living there, you don't even notice it. Just a recommendation as a fellow cat owner though, I switched to pine pellets a year and a half ago and there is almost NO smell from the litter box, it really absorbs the urine. Added bonus there's no dust like with clay ones (I don't trust the even the ones that claim they are "dust free". I use this brand: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/feline-pine-cat-litter?srsltid=AfmBOorIHcL_YhTcQId9bj7qgmBmG-vFBd88---gl8sP_gKCQjoiPhx_ A 40 pound bag lasts me around 3.5 months with one cat.

I have one and I love it! I have two sick people in my house with a cold. It’s been kicking on a lot lately because it detects bacteria and viruses in the air. 🦠

r/AirPurifiersCan anyone convince me that airpurifierers are not a uneccessary waste of money

I just bought a Shark air purifier and it’s near the kitchen. No more food smells lingering in the kitchen. It does NOT like sauerkraut, burnt eggs or fried tortillas 😆

Clears the air way faster and better than my Dyson. It’s a workhorse.
