My partner smokes cannabis and tobacco in a bong and I haaaaaaate the smell, especially the pungent, sticky tobacco. I just got a  Winix Zero+ Pro 5-Stage Air Purifier AUS-1250AZPU l. I had to- I don’ t want to resent him about it. We air out the house as much as possible but it still stinks. We got it today and after five hours, the air feels cleaner and the disgusting sticky tobacco stank is largely gone. Honestly after five hours I feel it’s money so we’ll spend. We’ll see how it goes long term but I’m so happy already, especially because we need to be warm and now it’s winter I don’t want all the windows open.

I agree with the above comments. I am extremely chemically sensitive and my condition started in an office where we brought in a lot of IKEA MDF tables. We returned the tables, but my condition remained. I recommend the IQair Multigas if you want the best home machine for removing formaldehyde and VOCs. It’s expensive though. For basic filtration at a much lower cost, I’d go with Winix. We have the pet one and it’s actually amazing at eliminating smells in the kitty litter room. Replacement filters are also not too expensive. To solve the CO2 issue, you have to exchange indoor air for outdoor air. Purifiers don’t remove CO2 and create fresh Oxygen. Trees do and for trees/plants to work sufficiently indoors hid need them almost wall to wall (there are a lot of myths about like you only need one spider plant etc. but you’d actually need to live in a greenhouse of plants). For CO2 you’ll need to open windows or vent. However, when you use a vent, like a bathroom fan, you’ll likely be pulling replacement air from someplace else in the building, not necessarily a better place with fresher air. A fan blowing in pulling fresh outside air in can get a lot font in a short time. Even ten mins can make a big difference. Go search on YouTube for air purifier info. There is a lot of expertise out there. I learned about the IQair/Winix combo from a researcher in Beijing. Using both makes the IQair filters last longer. Also avoid Levoit. They just got caught lying about being hepa in several of their models. They do have good air purifiers, but some are apparently crap. Last note: because all air purifiers are noisy when they are on high, it’s better to get one that’s for a much larger space and run it at a lower, quieter speed. Consider getting two Winix purifiers or 2 of some other kind with some carbon in the filters. Winix is at Costco.

Just bought a Winix Zero S and really working wonders! It stopped most of my dust-related morning allergy. Would 100% recommend for the price. I know I’m gonna get flamed for this but my Dyson TP09 does an okay job too in my office. Just takes longer to clean the room (and it’s more noisy). At least it clears the high levels of formaldehyde that my office seems to have. (With severe allergies stay away from Dyson though)

My Winix Zero S has made wonders for my stuffy nose. I used to wake up and spend the morning blowing my nose. Now I’ll just do it after waking up and be good for the rest of the day (most of the time). The important thing is you have it running at full speed at least 30m before you enter your bedroom, then you can switch it to lower levels for the night. I have a Dyson TP09 running in my office as well, that might be helping too (this one starts running at full speed 2h prior to my arrival to the office, since it’s a big room with high ceilings).

I have a Dyson tp09 and a Winix Zero S. The Winix destroys the Dyson in every aspect. The only thing the Dyson has over the Winix is the fancy meters and cool app. If you are still gonna go for a Dyson I can sell you mine for cheaper (so that I can go buy more Winix purifiers).

If its just 1 room and youre on a budget you can try the winix zero (s). The zero was less than 100 pounds in the netherlands. No smart. But filters are very affordable compared to other air purifiers + good cadr. It wont help much with smells, but you said you care less about that.

The winix zero will be great. It is for bigger spaces, but that means you dont need to run it on max speed to keep your smaller room clear(less sounds than a smaller one). If there are a lot of VOCs everyday the filters will need replacement more often, but that is the case with every air purifier. There's many off brands that sell cheaper filters because its a popular brand.

UK here, I got a Winix Zero a year or so ago. It has a carbon filter and HEPA filter and it hasn't flagged it needs its filter replaced so far. It has an air quality sensor and you can turn off the "plasmawave" if you wish. Very good, would get one again.

Either way, don't you just turn the bedroom one on auto and leave it going 24/7? Having a better look, the winix might be slightly better in function, so if you can just turn it on and forget about it, might be worth a try. otherwise you seem to be leaning toward the Levoit anyway, so it is cheaper and will use a bit less electricity, so cheaper overall. If the app and the plasmawave are true problems for you, then you have answered your own question, but if you want a bit of better air and don't care about fiddling with the app, just turn it on and leave it, just clean the dander filters once a month, then the winix might be worth it.

I would consider some equipment if it fits your budget. I own a rather good temtop air quality meter to take my own measurements of particles and tvoc and formaldehyde in the air. I currently run an enclosed printer (P1S) with a bento box (hepa and coal filter inside printer) as well as an external air filter (winix zero) With this setup air quality stays completely healthy even when printing with abs. I had an open ender 3 before, and also tested without the Bento box. Some particles get into the air, but with pla it should be rather safe. The fumes you smell are non toxic (pla itself isn't, but some colors could be so you can't be Sure) in your situation I would check the possibilities for an enclosure, or at least a room wide air filter, which is a good investment anyway because they do a lot more than taking care of printing fumes. I live next to a main street in Frankfurt and while aqi outside is mostly 20-50, in my apartment it's 1-4 until I open the window Tldr Maybe get air quality meter just to be sure (has to measure hcho and particles, I recommend temtop 1000S+) Maybe enclose your printer Definitely get a room air purifier (I recommend winix zero)

I have it, initially bought two, returning 1 because it arrived damaged. Build/Paint quality sucks. Plastic grill on top isn't rubbing alcohol friendly. You literally can rub black paint off and damage it. Performance wise, it is okay. I bought it to replace Winix XLC. I don't think it works better than traditional HEPA filter as it uses electrostatic for filtration. No particle count reading but both sensors work fine, definitely better than XLC which has never worked from day one. App sucks, UI is hideous, I hated it. I'll probably return the 2nd one and buy Blueair signature instead.
