You don’t live in SE Michigan or area do you? We have a war horse of an old baby jogger single they don’t make anymore we got more than 10 trips with probably over 2 kids that could use a new home out of my garage. It was in my mind perfect park trip stroller. Very easy pushing and for us flying down I could pop wheels off faster than people can take their shoes off and out through x-ray machine at airport at least the old style conveyor machines. Worked from infant up to nearly 100 lbs.
Back in the days of yore, when I had little-uns, I put Slime in the tires of my jogging stroller (one of the original Yakima Baby Joggers), and it kept my tires safe on many a trail run. I'd think that would still work on a BoB, although I'm kind of surprised they haven't transitioned to no-flat tires these days.
The greatest thing we did was go to the baby expo, they have them twice a year in the man centres in NZ and they had a stroller trial track where you could actually have a go with them, and each of the stalls were sooo helpful and you can really have a proper go with each one, fold it down, see how intuitive each one is for you - what makes sense for some people won’t for you (kinda like apple vs samsung use). We thought we’d want mountain buggy or thule but ended up coming away with Baby Jogger. We got a three wheeler for running (road footpath runners here) and their travel model which collapses so easily and tiny it’s incredible. They also have seminar in car seats and use, the stall holders are super knowledgeable and no question is too stupid. Plus good deals on lots of other baby stuff, we’ll be going back to the next one once baby is here for more info and deals! Monitors - no idea, came to your post to get info for myself!
My son grew out of his doona by 6 months . After converting to a regular stroller, the difference in getting around is major .. no bottom storage on the doona either. Get a nice collapsible and light stroller. I like the baby jogger w 3 wheels that u just pull on the handle on the seat to collapse.. As far as getting around.. if you’re going to be using subways then you don’t have to worry about car seats except for the airport in which case you can try to reserve uber with car seat or any car service that has a car seat option. You can also buy a cheaper car seat from like Target and toss it at the end of the trip if you don’t want to travel back with it.
We went in May and rented a jogging stroller from Strollerfy that had a max weight of 75lbs. Delivered it right to the hotel and picked it back up. Not dealing with a stroller on our flights was great. My kids are taller. My 4 and 8yo both rode in it just fine and my 9yo sat in it while we were waiting a few times. My 8yo suffers from foot pain and was able to take rests just fine.
If you attend the baby show next time it’s on you can test run a whole range of buggies through a course. It’s both funny and insightful. Baby jogger has a bunch made for running but it’s quite hard to get a buggy that is compact, has a capsule attachment and add ons for future babies but also is good for running. The running ones tend to be large and one solid unit. The Edwards and co range are compact and can add on for extra kids and come with capsule attachments. They are more durable for gravel and long walks than the little 4 wheel city ones but I don’t know how they would go on runs. I agree with the other poster you’ll next two separate buggies if you want a city/car one and a running one
My kids are 7 and 8 and we literally just got down to only a wagon last week. I had 2 single joggers (my sister took 1 a few years ago) and she didn’t want my double. So my husband finally sold the remaining single and the double on his day off last week.
I had 4 at one point (kids are 14 months apart), 2 single joggers (we were training for a 10k as a couple), a double and a wagon. My kids are 7 and 8 now and we just have the wagon that one side comes down and becomes a bench. Plus our dog is getting up there and so she walks a couple blocks and catches a ride now haha.
We just returned from the Wish 2 weeks ago. We had used the strollers onboard available at Guest Services. It was a single stroller, Baby Jogger brand. It worked for us, it was wide in narrow corridors where it was difficult to get best the Room Attendent carts, and the stroller itself didn't fit through the door way. We brought a carrier, never used it. We mainly used the stroller to have at the pool or when we wanted to just go on walks around the ship. Ours was for a 2 year old, but it was nice when we were at Castaway Kay, Nassau, and pool time with the 3 kids and carrying everything that comes along with them and it was easier to get him to nap on a walk than fighting it in the room.
Four… two doubles and two singles :) One stacked double for the car. A double jogger on the porch. A single jogger at my parents and a single travel stroller.
I have 4. A single that could fit a carseat and works for new baby with no neck control. A double that could fit a carseat and big sister. A single jogger once baby was 6 months old. And a double jogger once baby number 2 was 6 months old. You can totally get by with one.
