IMHO you need to invest in a good stroller but can cheap out on the infant car seat. They all have to pass the same safety tests and there is literally no reason to spend $600+ on a car seat you’re going to use for less than a year. This is how the ‘systems’ get you. What I did was: get the Graco snug ride on sale, then get converter parts for whichever stroller you want. I have a baby jogger city select 2 and I LOVE it. Also check rebelstork or your local marketplace to find a higher end stroller (or the converter parts) for a deal. Do not buy anything with plastic wheels!!!
We used a car seat adapter with our stroller for both kids; it really doesn't take that long for them to move up to a 'big kid' seat, so a bassinet attachment seemed like overkill. (FWIW, we have the Chicco Keyfit 35 and the Baby Jogger City Select 2.)
With my first child (he’s 6) I got a Chicco travel system, including stroller. It was fine, it did the job. I used it a TON- I walked malls, Disney, neighborhood- you name it. When I had my 2nd child the Chicco was worn out and dirty and my older child still liked to ride occasionally so I wanted a stroller that could hold 1-2 depending on the situation and ended up with a City Select 2. It was like $600-700 which is still not the most expensive, but it was a huge difference in quality from Chicco. It pushes so much smoother and has a lot of seat options depending on what my kids want. My kids are now 2 and 6 and still both ride in it regularly, so I feel like I’ve gotten my moneys worth out of it, but if you don’t plan to use a stroller a lot I’d just get the lower priced one and call it a day.
I bought a stroller that has the option to turn into a double if I’m lucky enough to get pregnant again. I went with the baby jogger city select 2.
We have the baby jogger city select 2. It can be a single stroller and then can convert to a double stroller. You can also add a glider board for 3 kids. We bought during a prime day sale, I want to say for $400 or $500. Then the extra seat and attachment was another $90. This thing is so well made and sturdy. We have had for 3 years so far and really like it. We now have a 3.5 ye old and 1.5 year old and baby 3 on the way
I have a baby jogger because with the sale price I got it came to half the price of the uppababy vista. We were the same where we could afford to get the vista but when it came to the baby jogger city select 2 with a bassinet came out to half the price of the vista with a bassinet. I figured that the vista might be a bit better, but not $800 better. Honestly now that bubs is here and I use the stroller daily I’m happy with my choice and I’d do it again. Or I would just get one used on marketplace in good shape. Being in the GTA you would have a ton of options if you want to go that route. As for car seat I got the baby jogger city go one which was on sale for $280 I believe. Car seat have so many regulations around them even the cheap ones are just as good. I’d rather get a nicer convertible car seat for when this guy outgrows the infant seat, which will be very quick.
Second this! We have the city select 2 and has the same features as a vista. I got it on sale and got a bassinet for it and paid less than half what a vista would have cost.
I really like my baby jogger city select 2. it looks like it has a chicco adapter but i didnt look extensively. My only advise is that baby jogger seems to run out of accessories so get whatever seat adapters, extra seats, other accessories you’re going to need for the life of the stroller upfront. i wonder if cost doesnt matter and you really want a specific stroller if it may be worth getting a new infant seat to be compatible.
As others have mentioned, snugglebugz and west coast kids are amazing. The staff understand how extremely overwhelming the process is. They'll ask you a few questions about you're lifestyle and where you may use it, and will narrow you down to a few options from there. They have everything in display to test out walking, folding, unfolding, etc. It's extremely helpful!!! The carseat is something to consider too as not all will fit in your vehicle and not all are compatible with a stroller. The staff can help you with this too. Our set up is baby jogger city select 2 eco (not my first choice but we got an INSANE deal) and clek liing carseat. I got adapters on marketplace for $20 to connect my carseat to the stroller (no need to pay full price!)
We have the baby jogger city select 2 and its been working well so far with condo life. It folds up small and fits in our cost closet bi purchased a bassinet in marketplace which he enjoys for walks and I also purchased carseat adapters on marketplace so I can attach his carseat for running into the grocery store. There are a few minor things I don't like but for the price we paid on sale, I can look past it.
We love our city select gt double! Have been using it since my boys were 6m and 2.5 and now at 2 and almost 5 they are still comfortable in it
Congratulations on your Twinkies! You’re not overthinking the car seat thing. I went crazy trying to figure this out! I am sooooo glad that we got a stroller with the car seat attachment, because especially when they’re more little it’s such a hassle to be strapping them in and out. Twice! We have the Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller and we hook our car seats into it (using a car seat adapter). My twins are 14 months and they use the Chicco Key Fit 30 car seat. At this point, now that they’re bigger and walking around, they just want to be side by side so we only use this stroller when going to the doctors office because our side by side jogging stroller won’t fit through those doors (but will fit through most doors). Here is our stroller: [Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller](https://www.cityselectstrollers.com/2022-baby-jogger-city-select-2-double-stroller-radiant-slate-gray/) For the car seat adapter, there are like 3 different types of adapters for depending on what type of car seat you have. This is the car seat adapter for Gracco: [Car seat adapter for stroller](https://www.cityselectstrollers.com/city-select-city-select-lux-city-premier-stroller-graco-click-connect-baby-jogger-city-go-car-seat-adapter-by-baby-jogger-ships-now/) And just in case you’re interested, this is the jogging stroller we have. Honestly, I loved how cheap it was and it’s held up so far. The only downside is the limited shade canopy on it. [Jogging Stroller (side by side)](https://a.co/d/2hbNzqA)
