I’ve posted about this before in this sub, but when my wife and I started looking at strollers I was the one giving each stroller a HEAVY once over and examining every aspect of them. My priorities were something that was easy to use and operate, covered our needs in terms of features, and most importantly, DURABLE. Every “compact” stroller I fondled felt like it would die in 6 months of regular use, even the bougie brand ones like UppaBaby. I was immediately turned off by the construction of all of them. We ended up with a BabyJogger City Select 2. It’s big, a bit heavy (although not the heaviest model I checked out), but it is built like a tank. We’ve put it through the wringer and it has some battle scars, but all the joints and moving parts on it still function like new and it shows no sign of slowing down or wearing out. We got lucky in that we found one for 35% off on the Black Friday before our son was born, but I would have still paid full price. For those that make it work with compact strollers, kudos to you, but I’m sure if we tried to go that route we’d have been on our 2nd or 3rd stroller by now.
r/daddit • Hands down, the best purchase I've made in years ->Yes to the good stroller! I got. City select thinking I would like the single to double on marketplace but didn’t realize how hard it would be to push once I had two kids in it. I still have it but only use it for one and bought a double bob and then a single bob.
r/Parenting • Black Friday tips : what baby stuff was actually worth it? (first-time mom here 💁🏻♀️) ->I liked getting a double that can work as a single. That said, it's MASSIVE and we have a smaller, single stroller that is our main go-to. Facebook marketplace is awesome for this. I got a baby jogger double with several add ons for $100! Everything is washable and it was good as new after I did that. My first was 2.5 when my second was born. We still use the double now but not as much as when they were both littler.
r/Mommit • Is a double stroller worth it? ->IMHO you need to invest in a good stroller but can cheap out on the infant car seat. They all have to pass the same safety tests and there is literally no reason to spend $600+ on a car seat you’re going to use for less than a year. This is how the ‘systems’ get you. What I did was: get the Graco snug ride on sale, then get converter parts for whichever stroller you want. I have a baby jogger city select 2 and I LOVE it. Also check rebelstork or your local marketplace to find a higher end stroller (or the converter parts) for a deal. Do not buy anything with plastic wheels!!!
r/BabyBumpsCanada • Looking for suggestions for mid range stroller systems [nb] ->I love my Baby Jogger city select single to double stroller. Can buy adapters to fit with most infant carriers, can do tons of single to double figurations, has bassinet attachments, can add a rider board to the back to carry up to 3 kids. So sturdy it can handle any terrain. The only negative is that if you’re looking for something really sturdy, high quality and can fit two kids, it’s probably going to be a bit of a tank. That being said I still find mine easy enough to fold/unfold. I bought mine secondhand in great condition. I think they were the trendy stroller about 10 years ago but they’re so well made that people can still sell them used for $150-$300 in very good condition. Paid maybe $300 total for something that originally would’ve cost $1000 and looks exactly like any stroller would after just a couple months of use
r/BabyBumps • Alright let’s talk strollers ->We used a car seat adapter with our stroller for both kids; it really doesn't take that long for them to move up to a 'big kid' seat, so a bassinet attachment seemed like overkill. (FWIW, we have the Chicco Keyfit 35 and the Baby Jogger City Select 2.)
r/BabyBumps • Is a stroller bassinet worth it? ->Same I sold our vista for the baby jogger double when my youngest was 6 months old. I wanted my baby up top but it was hard to maneuver with my oldest on the bottom. We still use the baby jogger and they are almost 2.5/almost 4.
r/2under2 • What stroller are you using? ->We’ve had great success with the City Jogger City Select. Steers like a champ, and is not heavy.
r/Buyingforbaby • Stroller and infant car seat recommendations, budget ~$1500 ->I went through a few strollers, mostly because surprise, twins! Ultimately I decided it was unreasonable to expect 1 stroller to do everything well. But if I had it all to do again, there were 2 strollers that could have taken me through birth to 4ish. A solid multimodal strollers- in my case, the City Select. With adapters, it went from birth up. I had a roller board for my toddler. It was an easy push over rougher terrain, though not quite on level of a jogging stroller. Didn’t tip easily. But it was heavy. A lightweight travel stroller- for me this was a ZOE. Loved how light it was, had snack cups, and the deepest sun shades for napping kids. Could steer the double with 1 hand, which was necessary with a toddler in tow. Quick fold, sturdy for how light it was. But didn’t work from birth (I think they have a model that does now) and wasn’t great on uneven sidewalks or over grass at the park or something. Most umbrella strollers are too short for me to push comfortably (5’10”) much less my husband (6’4”). The ZOE was perfect for me, but my husband did have to stoop a little. We travel a fair bit, so it really was worth it to me to have a really good travel stroller. If I was living in the suburbs and didn’t travel much, the city select could have easily taken us from birth to preschool, kid 1-3. Maybe you’re a runner or live in the country and a jogging stroller is a must. If you take public transit a lot, you’d want something narrow and super easy to fold. You really have to take into consideration what your lifestyle and priorities are.
r/BuyItForLife • #1 baby on the way. Which stroller would you recommend for a newborn that can ideally be used until age 3? ->I bought a stroller that has the option to turn into a double if I’m lucky enough to get pregnant again. I went with the baby jogger city select 2.
