One travel stroller (Baby Jogger City Tour- OLD model. We are probably the 4th family to use it. It folds very flat into a backpack and I HIGHLY recommend it), but I have only used once since Christmas. Before that, I used it once in September. I have a 2.5 year old, so after our only guy outgrew the Doona car seat stroller (also highly recommended) at just shy of 18 months, we pretty much ditched the stroller altogether unless we are going to be walking 3+ miles over the course of an outing. Otherwise, he walks and we pop him on our shoulders if he needs a break. Even then, I think we are nearing the end of that limited stroller use as well. His legs seemed bent uncomfortably last time we used it.

I know you adamantly against a lightweight stroller but your baby is 6 months old. Your baby will become a heavy toddler and those lightweight options won't feel so rickety. Trust me when I tell you that everyone I know who got a SUV stroller like the Cruz or the Vista ended up using a lightweight stroller by 1-18 months. I've seen this play out at my child's daycare too.  I had the Uppababy Minu. It is sturdy. Baby Jogger City Tour is good too. They are lightweight but feel more substantial.  All that being said, there is a reason why you see so many Yoyos, Aers, and Butterflies. They are great for 2-4 year olds. Yes by that age they will walk well but they also can't walk 10 blocks without getting tired. The Yoyo is 12.5 lbs and folds the flattest. It's ideal for carrying on a strap while holding your child's hand on the stairs.  You don't want to depend on the elevator on the train. Most stations don't have them and they are disgusting.

Our second or third hand UppaBaby that we got on a steep discount on Facebook Marketplace was great. Didn’t look shiny and new but was very well built. Plus when we moved on to a more compact stroller about a year in, we sold it for like half what we paid for it.

Our Baby Jogger is amazing (I think we have the city tour, it’s the one with two front wheels). We have put so many miles on that thing banging around cities we’ve traveled to. A decent amount of storage underneath and it’s actually very compact. We only got it when our daughter was sitting up though, so not sure if it’s a great fit for an infant.

Oh man, I remember the stroller decision all too well. My advice, narrow down to the few you’d like the most and then buy used. Don’t waste your money buying new. You have more time than you need to set up Facebook marketplace alerts and wait for a good deal to come up. You’ll want to buy the car seat new, but you can get adapters to match to a different brand if needed. Also, spending less money takes the pressure off buying a stroller you’ll use forever, and (if you have the space) allows you to buy different strollers for different purposes. At first we bought a Maxi Cosi stroller/car seat package (new but deep discount), but the stroller kind of sucked. So we kept the car seat and sold the basically new stroller and found a good deal on a second (or third?) hand UppaBaby, which we liked because it had a really nice bassinet attachment. Bassinet was great for the first few months, but ultimately the stroller was bulkier than we wanted. When our daughter was able to sit up on her own, we switched to a much more compact Baby Jogger (not to be confused with a jogging stroller) that became our “travel stroller” (bought new in box but for a steep discount on Facebook Marketplace). Shortly after we lucked into a very worn looking but super sturdy Bob Jogging stroller as a hand-me-down from a friend. Our daughter is almost 3 and we still have these two to this day and have been using them over 2 years. The Bob sits in our garage and we take it on walks around the neighborhood. The Baby Jogger stays in our car, and we use that when we drive somewhere or travel out of town. We live in a pretty walkable area so we actually use the Bob more often, but the Baby Jogger is surprisingly durable and has taken a lot of abuse, getting a lot of get checks and a lot miles walking around various cities we’ve travelled to.

Not the most secure, but I've travelled with the cosco scenera strapped to my baby jogger city tour. It sits in there almost like it was made to do that (had someone at the airport exclaim they needed it lol)

I just got back from a trip with my 5-month old. Our direct flight was 16 hours. I made sure I packed light for my carry-on because my baby is on the heavier side and I’m a petite person. Stroller recommendation: Baby Jogger City Tour. Fits in the overhead bin and about 14lbs. I gate checked the stroller. If you are formula feeding, I suggest using this storage bag for the powder as it saves so much space in your handcarry/ personal bag unlike the stackable plastic container. https://preview.redd.it/wtff591fad9f1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d76f438c0924932995c91ee302adecc7323ad5a

There are so many options, too many! If you know you’re going to travel by plane, perhaps go ahead and get a travel stroller that you can use with an infant car seat. You’ll discover your preferences and what you really need once baby is here. Highly recommend Uppababy Minu V3 and a compatible infant car seat. We bought our Uppababy Cruz V1 (including the bassinet) on FBMP for $200 in 2022 when I was pregnant with baby #1. I actually preferred baby wearing, so we really only used the stroller for those early doctor appointments and then later when he got too big to carry. I really love the Cruz, but definitely glad we got it second hand given that I mostly used the baby carrier. We did end up with a travel stroller from Baby Jogger that I got on deep discount during their Friends and Family sale (someone shared the code on Reddit). It was much better for flying and road trips than the Cruz, but you can definitely tell the difference in quality. Baby #2 is now 5 months old and we have the Uppababy Minu Duo stroller. I prefer a side by side double stroller. I still use the Cruz when I go out with just one kiddo, but that doesn’t happen very often.

100% yes. I bought my Uppababy Cruz V1 on Facebook marketplace for my first baby. It was made in 2018 and is in great shape after at least 3 babies. I purchased Minu Duo this year before having baby 2. They are both so much nicer, smoother, and better than my travel Babyjogger City Tour. Uppababy strollers are tanks and last. Check out used ones for sale near you.

I didn’t want to spend a ton on strollers either. I went with the used stroller, new car seat situation. No regrets. I got an Uppababy Cruz V1 and a ton of accessories, including the bassinet, for $200. It was manufactured in 2018 and my first was born in 2023. The stroller is a tank and is still in great condition. I loved babywearing and did that much of his first year. I would have hated paying full price for the stroller. I did buy a travel stroller for 55% off Black Friday sale to make travel easier. I got the Baby Jogger City Tour. It is so much better to fly with or even do a long car trip in because it folds down so small. However, I can tell the Uppababy is just so much nicer. It’s considered a high end brand for a reason. I’m pregnant with baby 2. I’m going to buy the new Uppababy Minu Duo double stroller. My 2yo has developmental delays and is not a strong walker. I know I will need a double with my 27m age gap. That’s the only stroller I will have paid full price for. Your fourth floor walk up definitely makes me think a lightweight stroller would suit your needs best. When I researched travel strollers, I kept reading reviews that the Uppababy Minu was highly rated for daily use. I just couldn’t pass up on the Baby Jogger deal. They just launched the V3, so I think V2 is on sale if you can’t find a good used one. I promise I’m not employed by them. I just don’t have personal experience with other stroller brands.

The absolutely perfect baby gear for all scenarios does not exist. I would advise looking on Facebook marketplace to find items secondhand if you want to purchase multiple strollers. You don’t need to get everything before the baby comes. Most strollers (especially jogging strollers) cannot be used until baby is 3-6 months old. You may want to use the Doona at first while you figure out what is important to you. Your baby will likely outgrow the infant car seat by age one. So you can use the Doina for travel during this short-lived time. You will then travel with a convertible car seat which does not click into any stroller. I recommend taking a look at the Uppababy Minu V3. It has a bassinet mode built in and can have a car seat click in (only certain models). It also folds up small enough to go in the airplane overhead compartment. We got a used Uppababy Cruz V1 on FBMP. I used it a lot in the early baby days with the car seat. I had the bassinet, but ended up babywearing most often. I especially preferred babywearing when we went to events and other crowded spaces. So much easier than making our way with a stroller. I started using the stroller more in the toddler days as my son has global delays and was a late walker. I got a Baby Jogger City Tour during Black Friday sale to use as our travel stroller. Neither stroller is perfect, but both have been great to have for different reasons and uses. I just gave birth to our daughter and got the Uppababy Minu Duo stroller so I can take both kiddos out and about.

Another plus one for baby jogger. Terrible basket space but otherwise the City Mini and City Tour have been great for us and meet all your requirements.

we took a baby jogger city tour to Europe and it worked fine on uneven streets and collapsed super small/lightweight and could be stowed as a carry on for flights.

Hi. I’ve been working in this industry over 20 years and I have opinions lol. Joolz Aer. Bugaboo butterfly. Inglesina quid3. Baby Jogger City Tour. Joie nutmeg. Nuna TRVL LX. All of these are very solid options. If you go to my Instagram, I have a video on the quid that I put up yesterday and there was also a giveaway and a discount code. And full disclosure I do not make anything from that code if you use it it’s just to help people save some money. 🫡
