Maybe check out the baby jogger city tour 2. It’s travel friendly and light. There are adapters for a baby jogger or graco infant seat. It doesn’t have a bassinet function but does lay flat with adjustable calf support. I was a nanny for family who had it and while I didn’t take it on hikes, I had no issue pushing it on non-paved park trails. If I was you, I would purchase a stroller that meets your other needs and then decide later if you still need a more heavy duty stroller for hiking.

I went with uppababy vista for our first baby because we planned on having more kids and the options to expand made sense for us. Highly recommend. Price tag is worth it and then some. Now that I’m on baby number two (3yo and newborn) I’m using the whole set again, except swapped to a Nuna car seat because I gave my Mesa to a friend who is still using it so another friend gave me her Nuna ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It is NOT travel friendly. We lugged it on a trip when my son was 10 months and it was a hassle. We bought an umbrella stroller (baby jogger city tour2 in costal) immediately after that trip and never looked back. Another word of caution - it has a large footprint so you need the storage space for it. We keep it in the garage or tucked into a corner of our dining room if we have to bring it in... but it’s definitely not for compact spaces/ small cars/ limited storage. Also note - I use the bassinet on a stand in my bedroom as baby’s sleep space for now and will transition her to our crib in the existing nursery when she’s ready and my son is settled in to his “big boy” room (he’s still in the nursery with a toddler rail on the crib).

I got the uppababy system with my first, now on my second and it’s back in daily use as a double. It’s a behemoth so it only makes sense if you already drive a larger SUV and live in an area where big wheels are needed. When my first was a bit older and in a regular car seat we switched to a travel stroller (baby jogger city tour2) becuase it’s lighter and more compact but would break out the uppababy for the bigger basket and better suspension as needed.

My son was really fussy and would only sleep on the move. For his first winter (not newborn, months 8-11 in the northeast) I would babycarry and wore my husbands snowboarding jacket over both of us. Baby was definitely warm, I wore shoes with good grip and avoided icy areas. My first stroller was the uppababy vista because it suited our needs (converts to double, wooded area so needed something that could go over sticks and gravel, we drive big cars so the bulk didn’t matter). We use the cozy ganoush for naps outside When my son was bigger we used the baby jogger city tour 2, super compact and suits most of our needs. Good ventilation for warm weather and lightweight for travel. We didn’t use this feature but technically you can use their car seat with it. It can be used from infancy but I don’t use it winter conditions... ok for the mall/ groceries/ indoor track for winter outings. Now with 2 kids (3.5boy, 3month girl) - I’m back to using the ub vista as a double.. my son still likes to go in the stroller occasionally because we are very active and his little legs get tired.

About to have our second. We have Uppababy Cruz for day to day at home, and the Baby Jogger CityTour 2 for travel abroad. Luckily we have a 3.5y age gap and our first hasn’t used one in a long time, so we’ve no need for a double or anything. We are considering possibly going abroad before baby is 6mo so I may rent a newborn travel one for that purpose vs getting the bassinet clip on for the baby jogger.

We have a Baby Jogger City Tour 2 travel stroller with the adapters for our Graco carseat, and we use this combination for almost everything. It's great for car and air travel, but also just as a small around-town stroller. It's great for bringing into casual restaurants and places like breweries and food halls, and also great for shopping trips. We also have a Graco Modes Pramette that we got second hand and use that with a separate bassinet attachment (the convertible seat/bassinet is pretty wobbly so we don't use it anymore), but since it's pretty big we only use it for walks around the neighborhood and don't take it along with us when we drive anywhere. We did this once and it was a PITA and barely fit in my SUV! Now we just take the baby jogger everywhere, and now that my baby is 3 months and can hold her head up better, we feel comfortable using the baby jogger in the recline mode (it's not all the way flat) if we don't keep her in the carseat atrached. She's still too small for being strolled around in the baby jogger alone without the carseat (she's tiny and the stroller straps are still pretty loose on her), but eventually we'll use it as our only stroller and get rid of the Graco one.

I have the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 and love it! So lightweight, it has a nice fold, and my Graco car seat snaps in with adapters (sold separately). I think they have some other brands' car seat adapters too. Edit: I got mine as an open box on eBay, and it's in great condition and was around $100. Don't be afraid of open box or second hand!

Definitely invest in a good pram first since they generally last longer and more sturdy but I would get it second hand. Not worth paying thousands of dollars if a second hand one does the trick! I initially wanted the bugaboo but I couldn’t justify myself paying thousands of dollars for brand new one and I felt awful asking my parents to buy it since they were offering to buy a pram as a gift. So we decided on the steelcraft which we had no issues with and used it up till bubs was about 3 then we purchased a travel stroller (baby jogger tour 2) to travel overseas. When I was pregnant with my second, we saw a second hand bugaboo for sale and purchased it. No regrets at all and I did a lot of research on that specific model and they are the best in my opinion for “off roading”. But it all comes down to how many kids you are planning to have, their age gap, and how often you use the pram/stroller. Our kids are 4 years a part so getting any double pram was useless since our 4 almost 5 year old (15kgs) would be too heavy for the second seat anyways. Most prams seat limit are probably between 17-23kgs so keep that in mind and check the limit. Prams are good for going on your daily walk or big trips like to the zoo or a park since it will be easier to push on uneven ground, more comfortable and generally have much more storage compared to the strollers. Strollers are great for travel and bigger kids. We used it when we had to run to the shops quickly or going out for lunch. Something easy to take out quickly but can be purchased later down the track.

I live near you and went with the Doona + Cruz for many of the same reasons (we have a 2.75 year gap between our 2 kids). For good measure we also ended up purchasing a travel stroller plus car seat (Babyjogger City tour 2 +Cosco Scenera Next) once baby aged out of the doona to effectively replace it. The Vista can be a bit of a tank when pushing it long distances, so I opt for the Babyjogger on most outings unless I really need the storage of the Vista.

It does not have a decent sized basket at all (but I’m not sure any true travel prams do?) but the baby jogger city tour 2 is great for tall kids. My tall 2.5 year old still fits very comfortably in it.

I started using UPPAbaby Cruz but I found it too heavy and big for the public transport and for rolling uphill. I only started enjoying stroller walks when I switched to a _much_ lighter and more compact Baby Jogger City Tour 2

I have the baby jogger city tour 2 which has been great for a few trips and have done both carry on and checked it in. It's one hand fold, lays almost totally flat ( need this for non-sitting babies), decent basket and canopy, fold out leg rest. It's not the cutest pram but got it for all the features and it has been great.
