We have a 4 year old and 8 month olds twins! We did a baby trend stroller frame and just clicked their car seats into it. Didn’t have much need for bassinets tbh. The other week I had a twin mom approach me and recommend the Zoe twin for when they’re bigger bc it’s so light and comfortable. Just ordered that one 🤞. We’re still using the baby trend at 8 months as I walk my 4 year old into school everyday. I wanted a side by side for walks, trips around town, the store, etc. We also got a wonderfold for all 3– trips to the park, zoo, theme parks, etc. 4 yr old was begging for a wagon so he could ride with them. The Zoe plus the wonderfold luxe was $1700 including accessories.
We just gave birth to our twins but we're going to use a few conbos. We will use the BabyTrend snap and go for the car seats when we're just taking the twins or the snap and go plus a small travel stroller for our toddler when both parents go out. We already had the Vista with the toddler seat and bassinet. We will start by putting both babies in the bassinet and our toddler in the seat. We also bought the ride along board and will start getting our toddler used to it. That way we'll be able to use one stroller for all three. I couldn't justify buying the car seat adaptors.
Asking one stroller to do everything is hard. Everyone also has different needs. I needed to be able to hike and grocery shop with the same stroller but others may not need to do that. I have 5 month old twins but also have a three year old. I would personally pick up a frame stroller (BabyTrend or Joovy) for the car seat days and then buy another stroller that fits your other needs. Removing the car seat compatibility opens up lots of options, many of which are less expensive or better for specific needs. I don't keep the babies in car seats for long periods of time outside the car so I use this for quick runs when both of them are asleep, dr appointments, or running my toddler into daycare. These are all situations where setting up a stroller with lots of attachments would be super annoying. The car seat adapters for strollers are often as expensive as the BabyTrend, especially if you can pick it up used. Many Facebook groups have parents giving away that kind of stuff for free. I have found that twin parents are really likely to pass something like that along for free I bought the Vista with my first, with the expectation I was going to have another child and I could use it for them. It was amazing with one child. I was able to go on serious trails with it, grocery shop, etc. I am annoyed by the amount of adapters and pieces I have to buy and cart around with the Vista. I hate having to remember to pack all the pieces all the time. I get to the end of setting up the stroller and I'm tired. I have heard the same complaint about the Donkey. I think the Donkey is a better choice than the Vista for twins but I don't own both so I can't tell you for sure. With the Vista you can't really have two kids reclined well at the same time. If I knew I was having twins I would have gotten a side by side. Bassinets are really nice for walks out and about. If they mostly travel by car and don't go on walks they might not need them. There are strollers that are "lie-flat" newborn compatible that can get around having a bassinet/ extra attachments. I am looking to keep the Vista for hikes and big trips but get a side by side, "travel friendly", almost lay flat option for daily work. If I didn't have a toddler I probably would've already bought something like a Zoe twin or Bombi twin. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a toddler ride along board and which stroller is best for that. 1. Separate reclining seats are very important, I would say critical. 2. See my rant above. Buy a frame stroller. 3. Space matters but the structure of the basket matters more. Some have bars in weird places. The vista feels like the king of storage space but idk about the Donkey. The Skiphop bag fits nicely in all my strollers. If they spend the money on the donkey they may feel stuck. If they buy a cheaper option on FB marketplace to start and then upgrade later they may know more about what they need.
Ummm i definitely went the non-fancy running stroller route. I bought a Babytrend stroller for like $100 or $150 on Amazon that comes with a car seat. I’ve used it hundreds of times and plan to continue with my newborn when she’s old enough. As for using a walking stroller, in addition to what’s already been mentioned, they shake if you push too fast and you’ll end up kicking the metal rim of the basket/bar when you’re running.
in my opinion, the best stroller for twins is… multiple strollers. options will be key. the first few months, i used a baby trend double snap n go with the car seats. babies can’t sit up, we had medical equipment, it was the best fit for my life. it’s not wide but it is LONG it’s like driving a bus. after they could sit up, i like a side by side- i use a joovy scooter x2. most side by side doubles are NOT double wide- they’re more like 1.5. they’re also made to ADA specifications and should fit through all doors that are ADA compliant and wide enough for wheelchairs. IMO side by sides are easier to handle and maneuver than a tandem stroller. i also have single strollers for when i have one baby for an appointment or when i have two adults and we want to each take one. i got a single snap n go on marketplace for a car seat, and two separate umbrella strollers for older babies. truthfully though, if we’re not separating the babies i just use the double.
i know not everyone has a robust secondhand market, but i did get most of our strollers secondhand to save money. double snap n go was $40, single snap n go was 15, both umbrellas were under $30 each. the big double i did purchase new, which was a good plan for us because its the most used out of them all.
you need a double stroller. you have two babies, you need a stroller seat for each of them. your ideal stroller setup will likely be multiple strollers, as your needs will change throughout the next couple years. personally i used a baby trend snap n go with the car seats for the first 8-10 months. then we switched to a joovy scooter x2. i also had a single snap n go(for when i had one baby at specialist appointments and took the other to grandma) and i have a single umbrella stroller for the same reason now that they’re out of the infant car seats. i’ve been considering getting a double umbrella stroller so it takes up less trunk space, but right now i’m not ready to give up stroller storage lol

I’m due in a few weeks. I wasn’t sure what to do but didn’t wanna be buying 5 different strollers. We got the baby trend stroller frame, especially for the first few months bc it’ll be winter and I don’t imagine I will be going out much except for doctor appointments and maybe like random strolls around the mall or something. We went to a baby store because I wanted to see the options in person for when we are ready to transition to a more practical stroller for spring time and when babies are bigger. We really fell in love with the same one you got - cybex gazelle. We tried a side by side and just didn’t like the feel and the packing of it. So I think we are gonna stick with the gazelle bc it was just so much easier for us to pack up by ourselves and also just was so much smoother. Maybe when babies are much older, we will consider a side by side. I think it’s all about personal preference. What works for one may not work for another!
We have one of each! A tandem (BabyTrend Snap and Go) for on the go for the car seats, and a side by side (BumbleRide Indie Twin) for walks around town. :)
