We wanted the features that tend to be exclusive to high end strollers, but didn’t want to pay for the high end seats that are compatible with them. We ended up getting a Graco GoMax system (baseless infant seat and stroller frame - no toddler seat) for less than the price of a high end car seat and planned to get a Joolz Hub. However, I scored a Babyzen Yoyo+ and Thule Urban Glide 1 for $20 apiece on Facebook marketplace instead. So instead of a car seat on wheels plus a high end hybrid stroller, we have a car seat on wheels and 2 used high end strollers on opposite ends of the spectrum lol. I think it will work well for us!

I have a Yoyo+ for my first born (we don’t need anything that has big wheels) and we do not have a car. It is very lightweight and sturdy! For our 2nd born we bought a Joolz Aer+ as we I prefer one hand closure

Yoyo can go into bassinet mode, so can be used from day 1. I have the bugaboo butterfly. It doesn’t go quite lay-flat, but it gets pretty close, and I used it without a car seat (Nuna pipa adaptors available) from just about 4 months. The deciding factor to me was true single-handed fold; absolute game-changer.

I remember when I was looking at strollers I had to narrow down the variables I was comparing, and at the time for me it was weight because we lived in a second floor walk up. So I searched for which stroller was the lightest weight and we ended up with the YoYo+

Parisian with kids too. Everyone here use a Yoyo+, they are smoll enough you can pass the turnstile with the kid in it, you can fold them and carry them if needed (you may see a demo of a mother or father holding their kid in one hand and unfolding the stroller in a single move of the other hand), you can carry them kids included in the metro stairs. It's not always convenient, it require a good physical condition, and during peak time you may not be able to use the public transportation at all. Take a stroller as small as the Yoyo+, or don't take one as it would be more a burden than anything.

We use a Yoyo - got it second hand from FB marketplace; ours was a new style one so cost £200 second hand but I also got an old style one for £30 for a friend so definitely worth looking. We don’t use ours often any more so it’s really handy having one that folds up easily and is lightweight.

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a pram that does everything you want… there are some that do a sort of in-between which people have recommended already (Joolz Aer, Bugaboo Butterfly) but my solution (also a Londoner) is to have two - one of which we bought secondhand to save money. I’ve got the Uppababy Vista which I love for eveything except going on the tube. Massive basket, nice and tall, I use it as a double now I’ve got two, plus it’s great for off-roading (eg grass and muddy paths in parks). For the tube (and holidays) I’ve got a Yoyo. I also use a carrier a lot (Babybjorn One for what it’s worth) - I use just a carrier a lot when travelling around but I fold and take the Yoyo on the tube when I’m going out for a full day or taking both children (oldest is a toddler so walks a lot but sometimes needs a bit of buggy time too). If you are considering secondhand at all there’s a really good Uppababy Buy and Sell group on Facebook, and marketplace is decent for Yoyos- just beware of scams!

Second hand yoyo worked for us

So I went to the store, set on buying either the butterfly, the yoyo or the minu. Once I saw the products I was somewhat disappointed and bought a regular stroller with fantastic wheels and springs. Great canopy and other useful and comfortable features. We also planned to travel a lot which is why we thought about the one and done travel stroller, but to put in perspective, we go out for walks twice a day. And that's not counting the days we actually have destinations to go to. I cannot imagine going through all the terrain we did with just a travel stroller. My vote is to get a regular stroller, and then look for a travel stroller second hand. (Well actually if you find a good deal, a second hand main stroller is fine too). What I would not cut the budget on is the car seat, get that new.
