Controversial opinion: don’t get 1 do it all stroller. Get several “specialty” strollers, optimized for a specific purpose and buy them used/cheap (unless you have 1 type you want to splurge on). Example: We bought a used graco click-lock that worked with his car seat. It lived in the car. We did some travel, so bought a significantly cheaper knock-off version of the Bugaboo Butterfly. Finally, we wanted a really good jogging stroller so splurged on a Bob All-terrain. Had an adapter for the car seat until he outgrew it. All three of those combined NEW (even if you max out with the BOB All-terrain Pro) come out to less than the Bugaboo Fox 5. And you may not need all of those and/or can buy in stages.

Used for almost everything, the only thing worth splurging on is a BOB. Everything other than a jogging stroller is the same basic design. The move is to buy them used/cheap as possible, then you can buy multiple strollers that each meet a certain need for the same price as a new “jack of all trades” stroller that won’t be. We have a BOB all terrain (the big purchase, because we run with him) and then an ultra compact one for travel, we also had what was essentially a Graco cart that his car seat clipped into (but didn’t have a seat otherwise) for when he was <1 year.

r/dadditHow much should I budget for first baby?

With very few exceptions, all our baby clothes were used. We had a local consignment store that would do a “bag sale” to clear out inventory…fill a standard plastic shopping bag for $10. We also had a neighborhood sale and free porch pickup group we sourced tons of stuff from (and passed along things we outgrew). Some stuff is worth splurging on…we both love our BOB jogging stroller and it’s a tank. But so much stuff is going to basically be expendable, so buy it with that mindset!

Don’t get a single, do-it-all stroller. Instead, get multiple specialized strollers and buy them used (FB marketplace, etc), unless there’s one you need to be high-end in one area and is worth the investment(BOB jogging stroller, etc).

r/BuyingforbabyStroller and infant car seat for tall parents (and potentially tall baby) - Nuna Mixx Next
8 months ago

Tall parents and tall baby here! We got a used nuna mixx next and it is great. We don’t use the car seat attachment anymore but we were able to use our EvenFlo infant seat with adapters in the nuna stroller. We also just got a BOB alterrain jogging stroller and it is perfect for our height, in case you want recommendations for a jogger!

We went with the BOB Allterrain so can’t speak to those two strollers specifically but we love the jogger- we’ve even taken it golfing. Just popping in to say I would absolutely still plan to get a smaller stroller for travel. We do frequent indoor spaces a little more frequently and for shopping, so I actually have three strollers 🙃 (important to note, I only paid full price for our travel stroller, the other two we got at KILLER deals otherwise I think my husband would leave me for having 3 lol). We have an Uppababy Cruz for day to day and then the Graco Ready2Jet for traveling - it’s light weight, folds easily, and has a decent under basket - not as big as the uppa or bob but still good enough and much easier to travel with. We got it from Costco for like $100. The jogging stroller is so big even when folded and takes up a majority of the trunk space in my jeep. It would be a pain IMO for air travel and I would be very annoyed losing half of my cargo space on road trips.

My husband is also 6’9 and I’m not as tall at only 5’10 but we went with the Uppababy Cruz to save some money (it’s only a single) but it’s been great. It was the only stroller he doesn’t kick the bottom basket on because the handle actually extends out & up instead of just rotating up. We also bought a used BOB for running because he could actually run with it. We tested pretty much everything available and found that unfortunately just like many about everything else for tall people, we had to spend more to find something that worked for him.

r/BuyingforbabyShould I buy a jogging stroller as first stroller?

My only stroller is the Bob All Terrain but we have it because we live on the Pacific Coast and my neighborhood is full of rocky beaches, forest terrain and no side walks. We love the stroller but I've never packed it up to bring it downtown or anywhere else in the city because its so large. I bought a cheap like $30 fold out stroller for that.

I thought I had to have one where the car seat easily attached and detached. I only ended up using that combo 3 or 4 times before he outgrew the infant bucket seat. I ended up getting a second BOB all terrain stroller on marketplace (honestly just get a stroller from there and don’t bother with new) because my guy loves stroller walks and the plowing on city sidewalks this year was terrible.

My baby is almost 9 months. The bucket seat is useful but not an absolute must have. I carried my baby around in the bucket seat itself a lot more mainly for in and out for appointments. Grocery shopping I would carry him in a wrap or carrier. Actually clicking in the seat to the stroller though I only have done it maybe 3 or 4 times ever. Most of the time I’d use the bassinet attachment. I’d say you have a good pick in stroller. I originally got your standard 4 wheel city style stroller and by winter got a BOB stroller because of the snow and the terrible job at plowing my city does. My baby loves stroller walks and if you are an outdoorsy person a 3 wheel all-terrain stroller is fantastic.

I’m not going to deinfluence you from a jogging stroller because I love mine, but I will suggest you look at FB Marketplace for a used one because they are pricy new. I got a used Bob all terrain for $55 and it’s amazing for walks.

Yeah, I actually haven’t seen too many Guava’s probably because it’s a newer stroller. But I have seen a ton of Thule’s (also very good) and BOB’s. What I like about my BOB is that it’s really smooth and lightweight to push on all kinds of terrain (even gravel).

Just got an indie twin and love it! I also have a BOB but much prefer Bumbleride.

BOB all terrain! We love it and got it for gravel and trails in mind. Whatever you do - 3 wheels / running strollers are the best for any type of off roading.

We love our BOB all terrain. It’s a beast! Little tough on sand, but great on everything else.

I use it for all things. It is clunky but it’s all I know really. Fits a couple bags worth of groceries.

I got 3 (BOB all terrain, Chicco bravo, and a sit n stand double idk which from FB)and I can tell you that the one I ended up using the most was the Chicco bravo. Standard, basic, not unique but very convenient. It's the perfect marriage between ease of folding and having bulk and storage space for me. The other two are HEAVY and hard to fold/unfold by myself and get in and out of the car juggling a baby and toddler. I can do the bravo with one hand with a baby and diaper bag in my other arm. But once it's up it is sturdy and steers really well over most terrains honestly, and is light enough to pick up and carry on walks over ditches etc. I thought I HAD to get a BOB for picnics, fishing, walks.... I convinced my husband. Spent months finding the right one second hand. Dropped hundreds. And ended up baby wearing any time I would have needed it. If you run or whatever probably more worth it. I've also taken it to the airport for speed/maneuverability and that was great but only if you have someone with you to carry and fold it which I did not.  No right answer for everyone definitely it's 100% lifestyle. I tend to use mine for doctors appointments, easy walks (hikes I baby wear), and outings like the aquarium or festivals. The bravo couldn't be more perfect for those.

r/BabyBumpsCanada[ON] How many strollers did you end up having?

Used two with baby #1. Joolz aer as our primary stroller for the first 6 months or so (bassinet, car seat attachment), then as a travel stroller, keeping in the car, and for walking to restaurants/small shops. Bob all terrain as our primary stroller after 6ish months - for parks, longer walks, runs, adventures. Also used (and still use at 26 months) carriers and an Osprey backpack. Baby #2 is on the way and we were generously gifted an uppababy vista double stroller set up from our neighborhood buy nothing group. It seems huge and clunky but since it was free we will give it a try. Right now we are testing it out as a single, and the only gap in our needs it fills is the big basket for grocery shopping/farmers market. We prefer to the jogging stroller for its maneuverability and big wheels for different terrains/stairs. Eventually, I think we will get a secondhand side by side double stroller. We used a mountain buggy duet briefly for a nanny share and really liked it.
