Controversial opinion: don’t get 1 do it all stroller. Get several “specialty” strollers, optimized for a specific purpose and buy them used/cheap (unless you have 1 type you want to splurge on). Example: We bought a used graco click-lock that worked with his car seat. It lived in the car. We did some travel, so bought a significantly cheaper knock-off version of the Bugaboo Butterfly. Finally, we wanted a really good jogging stroller so splurged on a Bob All-terrain. Had an adapter for the car seat until he outgrew it. All three of those combined NEW (even if you max out with the BOB All-terrain Pro) come out to less than the Bugaboo Fox 5. And you may not need all of those and/or can buy in stages.
With very few exceptions, all our baby clothes were used. We had a local consignment store that would do a “bag sale” to clear out inventory…fill a standard plastic shopping bag for $10. We also had a neighborhood sale and free porch pickup group we sourced tons of stuff from (and passed along things we outgrew). Some stuff is worth splurging on…we both love our BOB jogging stroller and it’s a tank. But so much stuff is going to basically be expendable, so buy it with that mindset!
Don’t get a single, do-it-all stroller. Instead, get multiple specialized strollers and buy them used (FB marketplace, etc), unless there’s one you need to be high-end in one area and is worth the investment(BOB jogging stroller, etc).
Tall parents and tall baby here! We got a used nuna mixx next and it is great. We don’t use the car seat attachment anymore but we were able to use our EvenFlo infant seat with adapters in the nuna stroller. We also just got a BOB alterrain jogging stroller and it is perfect for our height, in case you want recommendations for a jogger!
My only stroller is the Bob All Terrain but we have it because we live on the Pacific Coast and my neighborhood is full of rocky beaches, forest terrain and no side walks. We love the stroller but I've never packed it up to bring it downtown or anywhere else in the city because its so large. I bought a cheap like $30 fold out stroller for that.
I thought I had to have one where the car seat easily attached and detached. I only ended up using that combo 3 or 4 times before he outgrew the infant bucket seat. I ended up getting a second BOB all terrain stroller on marketplace (honestly just get a stroller from there and don’t bother with new) because my guy loves stroller walks and the plowing on city sidewalks this year was terrible.
My baby is almost 9 months. The bucket seat is useful but not an absolute must have. I carried my baby around in the bucket seat itself a lot more mainly for in and out for appointments. Grocery shopping I would carry him in a wrap or carrier. Actually clicking in the seat to the stroller though I only have done it maybe 3 or 4 times ever. Most of the time I’d use the bassinet attachment. I’d say you have a good pick in stroller. I originally got your standard 4 wheel city style stroller and by winter got a BOB stroller because of the snow and the terrible job at plowing my city does. My baby loves stroller walks and if you are an outdoorsy person a 3 wheel all-terrain stroller is fantastic.
I’m not going to deinfluence you from a jogging stroller because I love mine, but I will suggest you look at FB Marketplace for a used one because they are pricy new. I got a used Bob all terrain for $55 and it’s amazing for walks.
Yeah, I actually haven’t seen too many Guava’s probably because it’s a newer stroller. But I have seen a ton of Thule’s (also very good) and BOB’s. What I like about my BOB is that it’s really smooth and lightweight to push on all kinds of terrain (even gravel).
Used two with baby #1. Joolz aer as our primary stroller for the first 6 months or so (bassinet, car seat attachment), then as a travel stroller, keeping in the car, and for walking to restaurants/small shops. Bob all terrain as our primary stroller after 6ish months - for parks, longer walks, runs, adventures. Also used (and still use at 26 months) carriers and an Osprey backpack. Baby #2 is on the way and we were generously gifted an uppababy vista double stroller set up from our neighborhood buy nothing group. It seems huge and clunky but since it was free we will give it a try. Right now we are testing it out as a single, and the only gap in our needs it fills is the big basket for grocery shopping/farmers market. We prefer to the jogging stroller for its maneuverability and big wheels for different terrains/stairs. Eventually, I think we will get a secondhand side by side double stroller. We used a mountain buggy duet briefly for a nanny share and really liked it.
