I bought a used BOB revolution SE off of marketplace for like $150. Bought an adapter for my Chicco bucket seat. Best set up ever. I don’t run. But I live in a very small town in the middle of nowhere Saskatchewan. We don’t have sidewalks. Half the town is gravel. We get a lot of snow. It’s a beast!
Bought a used bob revolution se off of marketplace. It’s got a weight limit of 65 lbs. That being said, my 2.5 yo doesn’t care to ride in the stroller anymore and prefers to ride his bike or walk. So you might not need something long term.
I also second Bob! I got a second hand one for very decently priced. Granted, my little one was 18 months already. But you can get attachments for them for most bucket seats which then makes it parent facing. I don’t live on a farm but my parents do and it works great. It also handles the lack of sidewalks and crossing train tracks like a breeze.
I agree on the not bougie baby brands. But I bought a used Bob stroller off marketplace and love it. I could have gotten something else but it’s worth checking market place.
Marketplace 👌 I got a used Bob stroller for $200. It’s perfect!
I bought a used Bob stroller after I was tired of the Chicco stroller we bought with the car seat. It wasn’t great anyways. We got it when my first was around 18 months and I loooooove that stroller. Expecting my second right away and bought a Bob Chicco adapter off Amazon and it all works great. Def recommend that route.
I live in a small town with 350 people in the middle of nowhere. We don’t have sidewalks. Half the town is gravel road. My parents live on a farm. We started with the Chicco bravo that came with his bucket seat and it was just ok. It had the four plastic wheels. They were loud. But it folded up pretty small. I got a used bob stroller with three big wheels that are air filled and it’s soooo much nicer for the snow and gravel. I’ll get the Chicco adapters for it for the bucket seat for this next baby. So I guess what you’re looking for is big wheels and air filled. Good luck!
The absolute second my baby was big enough for a jogging stroller (didn’t need the flat bassinet) I switched from my Vista and never looked back. Inflatable bike-tire style wheels are sooooo much better on ice and snow and in parks and stuff. I went with the BOB Revolution, but the Thule ones are also great. You can’t run with a baby in a jogger until they have good head control, but as long as it has the appropriate recline and straps, you can use it to walk earlier than that.
We did the Nuna Trvl LX with Nuna Urbn as our combo travel system and it’s been really nice, overall a great purchase and I would recommend. It has the largest wheels and best suspension you’ll find in any travel stroller, quick one hand fold, lightweight. But it is still a gate check at the airport. It’s not perfect, you definitely make compromises with any travel stroller, but I have a tiny trunk and it fits well and has been nice for quick errands. That said - we have a lot of other strollers too for other purposes! - Bob Revolution jogger is our go-to for bumpy terrain and trails, gravel, etc. - I bought the Doona for international travel, we took our 5 month old to Switzerland. She ended up really liking to take walks in it, but I HATED it for regular purposes and quickly sold it because I found it to be a huge PITA. - we also have a very old (cheap FB marketplace purchase) Bugaboo Frog that we got for the bassinet for walks when she was little. It was really nice to have and we did use it quite a bit, but I also babywear a lot for walks when they’re small. I do not think a travel stroller can do it all. I think a travel stroller & jogger is a nice combo, or if you truly only want one stroller, you should probably consider the Cruz or similar.
I have Nuna Trvl LX, had (and sold quickly) the Doona, and Bob jogging stroller, and an (older) bugaboo model for the bassinet attachment. Bassinet stroller is a must IMO, and that’s coming from someone who very heavily baby wears still to this day past 1y. Doona was such a flop for me. I hated it SO much. I’m convinced the only people who like it are FTM without much other stroller experience. It’s so, so heavy and bulky and if you so much as drive over a leaf you’re going to have issues. It’s fine for airport travel but very inconvenient to even gate check because it’s so large. Bought it for a trip to Switzerland when LO was 5m and regretted it immensely, huge PITA. Next time we travel we are bringing our LX, which is still a gate check, but I love the easy 1-hand fold. I have a compact car and it fits great in my trunk which is nice for our needs. Wheels and suspension are good enough for most conditions. We live in an urban area but our neighborhood lacks sidewalks so we use our Bob jogging stroller most often at this point. Only thing I wish was different is I wish we could parent-face the seat still, our 1yo would still very much enjoy that. I used to be a nanny that’s worked with a lot of Vistas and unless you are 100% sold on 2 under 2, skip it. It’s too bulky and heavy. For me personally, I don’t like anything that you have to remove the seat to collapse the frame. Fox is probably the top choice IMO. Mixx > Swiv. If you go Nuna route, I loved having the Urbn car seat that was baseless vs the Pipa.
The BOB Revolution is a great jogger and pushes through anything (if you’re into trails or live where there’s heavy snow)!
A BOB Revolution is what we had. Worked awesome. Started with the car seat adapter. Probably logged 8,000 miles between our two kids on it. There are plenty of other “pure running” strollers but this one worked great for running and was useful for walking around town/stores as well.
Here’s what you do. Get a BOB revolution jogging stroller. Air tires = very smooth ride. City streets, whatever - it is the best. Get a britax car seat and adapter for your newborn as this car seat fits in the stroller with the seat reclined using said adapter. When baby is a toddler, switch to the stroller seat. This school year we stopped using ours as my youngest is now in kindergarten and wanted to walk to school with her sisters from day one, but the Bob stroller is literally the same one that we used with my oldest as a baby and she is now 10.
I’d highly, highly recommend a BOB jogging stroller. It doesn’t matter if you never jog. The tires provide a smooth ride and this city has infinite bumps in the road/sidewalk. Certain car seats are compatible with a simple adapter and then when baby is big enough to sit the stroller seat is perfect and lasts for years.
Pottery Barn Kids, Baby Gap, Monica & Andy, Little Moony, Target (the larger stores like 86th St.) For a stroller get a convertible car seat one which means you get say a BOB jogging stroller with a compatible car seat and attachment (one rod) that means your baby can go in the car seat which can also lock into a base in your vehicle and then when the baby outgrows that you can use the regular seat in the BOB stroller for a 2+ year old.
