You should be able to find something. Here in Germany, I have seen a lot of Bugaboo Donkeys listed secondhand for around €500, and Foxes for around €300, often with tons of free extra accessories I just bought a Bugaboo Cameleon 3 for €90 (including extra accessories). That means it’s an older model, of course, but it still works great.
Had a secondhand Bugaboo Chameleon with our first and it was really fantastic, we had quite a few extras included luckily, they get very pricey. After a couple of house moves we got rid of it before our second. We then got the Nuna Mixx Next which comes with all the extras and is very reasonably priced so that was great but I still preferred the Bugaboo. Definitely go and test at Babypark. Congratulations 🎊
We had a bugaboo chameleon and a donkey - they were fantastic. Easy to drive and very sturdy. Also had great resale value
I love my secondhand chameleon 3!! Also In BC :) the study wheels are soooo much smoother I find
I bought a bugaboo chameleon 3 for my first, used it for about 2,5 years and now using the exact same one for my second and it’s been great, still looks and functions as new. Bugaboos are definitely worth the money.
If you don't need a fancy box, pickup a fancy second hand one. We did that with a bugaboo chameleon when the kids were small, paid about your price and it had all the accessories, used it for years then it went to another family, it didn't cost us much, and was much nicer than any $2-500 strollers that other friends/family bought.
I LOVE my Bugaboo strollers. I bought a used Chameleon (very gently used) for baby 1 years back, but just bought the butterfly for baby 2. I wanted something smaller and easy to pack up and take places. I’ll use the chameleon at home vs out and about. Handles like a dream
I honestly have two. I bought a second hand bugaboo chameleon in pristine condition for the infant bassinet stage, and it’s huge. Not super ideal for outings to a restaurant that’s not big. But great for walks and does fine at a mall. This baby I got a bugaboo butterfly floor model at Nordstrom that my almost 5 year old fits in. It is SO easy to fold up and down and I’ll be using it post c section with a car seat attachment and when baby gets a bit older.
I have loved my old Chameleon3, with this baby I went Butterfly simply due to the size. Kept the old one for trips like the zoo, normal walks, etc. but the big strollers are hard for shopping and traveling. I don’t think anyone can go wrong with bugaboo
Our first went into the convertible seat at around 7-8 months, she HATED the infant seat. It was worth it to us. She’s almost 5 now and we still use it as intended. I’m kicking around not using the infant seat for baby 2. Stroller? I got a barely used Bugaboo for $200 and it’s been a dream. Smooth handling, one hand steering, I do not regret that. Will be using for surprise baby 2. Crib? No. When she was ready we put her directly in a larger bed so we could lay with her when needed. I got a cheaper brand crib and had zero issues. Same with the mattress.
I got a barely used Bugaboo stroller second hand, for like $200. That thing was my MVP! One handed pushing/turning, smooth ride.
I wouldn’t spend a lot on baby furniture. They don’t use it for very long. Maybe one nice dresser they can use until they grow up. Expensive cribs, etc are temporary and don’t perform any different than cheaper cribs. I’d also consider convertible car seats that have a larger height/weight limit thresholds (if you both have cars). I wouldn’t spend a ton on the infant seat either, you may have a baby who hates it early (mine did!). I’ll say my Bugaboo stroller has been worth its weight in gold. It handles like a dream and we hauled it everywhere. I’d also do bad things for a night nurse at the moment, my 2 week old is giving me the business from 1-4am and I am TIRED.
We have had no issues with the bugaboo cameleon 3, they're not the smallest. We were even able to relatively really get into the older trams when lifting. I'd mostly look at the ability to make tight turns/ turn in place!
Those 2 prams were my shortlist for a travel pram also. When I first had my baby I had a Bugaboo chameleon, we got it secondhand so it was old but I liked it and could feel the quality. I used this with the bassinet attachment with my newborn, but the thing with that pram is that it's huge, and we have small cars and it would take up the entire boot. I knew I wanted a travel pram and ultimately went for the Butterfly. I have a different main pram now, and baby is 5 months old, so the recline on the Butterfly is enough. The fact that it packs down really small and I can fling it open and closed with one hand is the winner for me.
Anything will work in the city, don't overthink it. And for hikes, I think any stroller will quickly feel annoying on anything else than concrete, but both stroller will be very fine for the occasional gravel street. If there's more terrain I think you'll quickly drop the stroller to go with a baby carrier anyway. I have a 2nd hand bugaboo cameleon 3 and a 5w old and so far I don't really care about more recent stroller features. The only one I really appreciate is being able to move the handle to both sides of the bassinet, so that if I walk downhill I can easily have the baby stay with the head higher than the body, otherwise she'll regurgitate in no time.
