We have the bugaboo donkey duo. I live in a major city and do not have a car so having a stroller with ample undercarriage storage for groceries and has the capacity to have our kids in longer was important. Not to mention the ride is smoother and much easier to handle on bumpy sidewalks. I’ve used a bunch of other strollers when I was a nanny and this one truly is the best stroller I have ever handled. The stroller also can hold kids up to 50lbs per seat and we have 2 under 2 rn and plan to have more kids in the future once we move out of the city so we felt like it was worth the cost.
r/beyondthebump • 600 dollar and up stroller/car seat systems ->Honestly the bugaboo donkey is THE best. Almost everyone uses it where I live, I have had 3 strollers and the bugaboo is the best one. Look at Facebook marketplace I got mine for $200 off there. It is also worth the price as it can last YEARS
r/2under2 • Side by side stroller recommendations ->I have the donkey 3, they are all almost the same just some minor differences but trust me when I say in sweden everyone gets a donkey stroller. I have seen some be reselled for a third or fourth time in great condition.
r/2under2 • Side by side stroller recommendations ->We went with bugaboo donkey side by side but had the same dilemma - it IS big, but when you have twins you are a travelling circus regardless of size. We love/loved it overall great stroller. We still use it regularly and my twins are almost 3. It fit through most doorways as it’s the size of a wheelchair, but when they were small I would actually often strap one to me and use the donkey in single mode (which is actually smaller than most single tandem) which I loved for grocery shopping. I should note I live in a city so we are walking everywhere - I think if driving everywhere a side by side when kids are bigger - a stroller that has a one handed fold (Zoe, valco, jeep) would be wise to look into for getting in and out of the car. My only complaint with donkey is getting in and out of the car/folding it up isn’t fun, we kept ours set up and just plopped the babies in. For reference we also have an umbrella double travel stroller for flights, and a bob double for running. Donkey is my fave but all for diff purposes!
r/parentsofmultiples • Has anyone bought a tandem stroller but later regretted not getting a side-by-side instead? ->I think you have a bias problem with “…that have one baby in the front and one kind of neglected in the back…”. For the first year, that set up is awesome - and keep in mind - infants can’t see that far or that well yet for a bit - so the view isn’t a concern. We had the city select double with a conversion for peg perego infant carriers and it was awesome. We also had a double bob and a bugaboo donkey (side by side) and two singles. For the first year - the city select was it. We never, ever had concerns about one baby being neglected. You can easily see both and both kids can easily see around. I would revisit the stacking single file double stroller.
r/parentsofmultiples • What stroller to buy? ->Bugaboo Donkey twin! Expensive but: - drives really well in the city - has side by side bassinets, so we could see the babies well and they could nap easily - feels very stable However, it’s huge and doesn’t fit in our trunk so we have a snap and go that comes in the car with us when necessary.
r/parentsofmultiples • Best Stroller for Twins ->Okay so I love my Bugaboo side by side. Especially because you can use it as a single stroller and but the other one in a carrier on you! My twins were fussy in the stroller when they were smaller so I couldn’t imagine having them below on another.
r/parentsofmultiples • Stroller set up ->Yes the Bugaboo donkey 5 Twin (the side by side bassinets). You can either place two bassinets or make the stroller smaller so you only place I bassinet. I’m bad at explaining so bear with me lol. The bugaboo twin is made for two bassinets or two buggy seats. To place two of whatever kind you have to expand the stoller sideways to it becomes wider. You can however leave it in the ‘smaller’ part (there’s secure locks at 3 points) and only place one bassinet or one seat and not be left with a huge gap on the side.
r/parentsofmultiples • Stroller set up ->The twin and duo have the same base! The difference is that with the duo you get one bassinet and one seat and with the twin you get two of each.
r/parentsofmultiples • Stroller set up ->I didn’t want a bugaboo donkey bc they’re huge, SO expensive, kinda bulky. But, I found one used for $350. It’s the Donkey 1, which is a 13+ year old stroller and it’s still as smooth as new. And, although it is huge, it’s not as difficult to get in and out of the car as I was anticipating. So if you find a used one, I wouldn’t rule it out! It’s awesome! It’s actually narrow enough for doors. the wheels are so sturdy We can do nearly any terrain easily. Also, it’s really nice to be able to flip both seats around. And the recline positions are so much better than other brands!
r/2under2 • Side by side stroller recommendations ->Came here to recommend this. 16 month age gap and it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made.
r/2under2 • Best Double Strollers?? ->We have the bugaboo donkey twin, I will preface this by saying I absolutely love it because I also thought “how can I pick whose on top etc”. Car seats can be a pain in the butt to push through doors (we’ve taken them lots of places too) it’s like 60/40 on when we fit; that’s also because we have an adapter for the Chicco car seats and I think when that’s off and we’re using the regular seats we’ll be okay, but there has been times we’ve had to take both out of the stroller carry them one by one through the door and then push the stroller in. Sometimes we could get away with just taking one off and pushing the stroller through. But for regular walks etc, I love it.
r/parentsofmultiples • Has anyone bought a tandem stroller but later regretted not getting a side-by-side instead? ->I have a 4 month old and my oldest just turned 2. So far we have 4 strollers. We have a solo stroller from the travel system of the car seat. We have a travel stroller (this one is my fave but only fits one kid and only when they can sit independently), we have the double stroller (splurged and got a secondhand bugaboo donkey duo, not worth it, it doesn’t fit in either of our vehicles, a ford escape and a Subaru crosstrek, we only use it for evening walks), then we have a very small umbrella stroller for my toddler for quick in and out shopping things where there’s no cart. I think we’ll eventually ditch them all and get a wagon but right now this is it
