We had the Donkey 2 for our twins. Used it for around 3.5 years, it was freaking fantastic. Was quite expensive, about 2500 Canadian all in plus some winter accessories, etc. Was able to sell everything around 1200 bucks to a pair expecting twin parents.

My wife convinced me to get a bugaboo donkey and I originally thought she was insane because they were so expensive but it was probably the best piece of twin equipment we bought. We also have 3 big dogs and live in Canada. I was the guy in the This thing was like a tank. Went over snow, ice, grass, dirt, sand, wood chips easily. Very easy to move and turn, folded up really easily into the back of the minivan. Lasted us 4 years with only the most minor of issues. Try to find one on marketplace to reduce the cost or go for an older model. We had the Donkey 2 and it was a life saver. Could not recommend it more. Edit: never had any issues fitting through doors like some other people are saying. It was tight but we made it

I have had the bugaboo donkey2 for 5 yrs and it's still going strong! Still pushes smoothly even with all 3 kids on the stroller, the riding board is placed in a good spot where you aren't constantly kicking it and is excellent in the snow. I can't recommend bugaboo enough and if I only had 1 kid or planned a bigger age gap I would have bought the fox.

Strollers are like cars and not everything will fit everyone's lifestyle needs or budgets. The stroller I currently have would not work for someone who lives in the city in a small apartment, someone who takes public transit a lot or has a small car. I found it easier to make a list of things i didn't need/want in a stroller as someone who lives in the suburbs to narrow it down. An anecdotal example from late 2019: We bought our infant seat at babies r us for an insane discount (paid $60 for a +$200 bucket seat) so I didn't need a travel system. I live in the suburbs and sometimes the sidewalks aren't shoveled very well in the winter so a light stroller with little wheels wasn't going to work for me. I wanted my kids to be close in age so I only looked at strollers that could turn into doubles; uppababy, bugaboo, peg perego, and city select. I didn't like the configuration from single to double for the uppababy or city select for their bassinet attachments and the peg perego was impossible to find so we got the bugaboo. I was also able to talk to a customer who would come into the store that I worked at who bought the bugaboo for her twins and she raved about it but the only thing she didn't like was how wide it was because it made mall shopping difficult. I don't go to malls and the stroller fits through a standard doorway so the width was never really an issue for me but I can't walk side by side on the sidewalk with another mom pushing a stroller beside me 😅. If I was having my first baby in 2025 with the information that I have now, I would pick cybex gazelle or bugaboo kangaroo.

r/parentsofmultiplesBest Double Stroller for Twins?

I never tried the others so can’t speak for best, but we have the bugaboo donkey. Bought a v2 secondhand. It is quite a piece so if you have a smaller car and plan to travel places to go out often maybe not the best as it is quite heavy to carry around. But if you like us use it primarily from the home and need something sturdy but easy to manoeuvre- it is perfect! Newer models are lighter tbf if you can find. They are pricey but lasts for a long time as it can adjust from bassinet to sitting, and the durability means there are good ones to find secondhand.

Got a bugaboo donkey. For us that is perfect! It is easy to manoeuvre as other have mentioned, fits through most doors in our area unless there’s something blocking. I use ours often as i walk around a city as well as parks so need something sturdy to manage the many curbs, potholes. So if you want a side by side or tandem I think that might be something you need to consider. I know twin parents with the tandem that loves it except(!) the weight distribution when moving up and down and around our at times crappy streets lol. But they only use it extremely occasionally so are ok with it. we got a 2 secondhand, but newer models are available and def. the weight does get better the newer the model.

So we have the bugaboo donkey as well and tbh we love it! We bought ours secondhand, and it came with the car seat adapter. The car seat adapter worked with the car seat we were planning to get regardless. (For us the car seat feature was only a bonus, we used it 4 times.. so not a necessity, just a nicety that worked out) Secondhand you can get them for a very decent price. The main benefit is really that it is sturdy, easy to manoeuvre (at least I find it so), we live in pothole and high curb heavy city centre and we have no issues whatsoever, + it will grow with you until toddler age.

I know it’s been a while since your comment but which one did you get? I just purchased a Donkey 2 in very good condition but I haven’t seen much feedback on it since it’s an older model. Everything seems to be about the Donkey 5.

We love our bugaboo donkey 2. Very light weight, turns easily and it's great to be able to look at both kids. Fits through all doors we have encountered yet. Only with our car seats (maxi cosi's) on top (with the adjustment piece) we have had some difficulties since it makes the stroller just a tad wider. We actually choose between the same ones as you. The dealbreaker was actually being able to see both kids.

r/2under2Stroller math is hard: 21-month gap

I got a bugaboo donkey 2 and love it. It’s side by side and converts to a single with a side pouch. Can switch between bassinet and seat. It’s super expensive but I got one on fb marketplace for cheap and have just had to replace the tires. Very happy with it. Fits most places pretty well. Wanted to note that i have been told by people with tandem strollers that they can be really hard to push and maneuver if there are any hills or bumps in the road.

That’s good planning! If you can afford it, I would recommend the bugaboo donkey duo. As a single it has a nice little side basket and as a double it still fits through doors and is pretty easy to maneuver. I got one second hand and other than having to replace some parts it’s been pretty great. Takes cracks in sidewalks like they’re nothing and not every stroller can say that. I know mockingbird type strollers are popular because you can easily buy add ons to them but I’ve heard from several moms that they can be difficult to maneuver unless you’re on flat, smooth terrain. So it really depends on what kind of life you live.

r/2under2Recommend double strollers?

I got a bugaboo donkey duo on Facebook marketplace for $300 (they retail for around $2000). Pros- is really sturdy and can take pretty much any bump in the sidewalk like it’s nothing. Cons- it’s bulky (most doubles probably are), I have to take both seats out to fit it in my trunk (suburu forester). Overall I do like it but I honestly don’t love it. I had really been hoping for more. Now I have my sites set on a wagon!

r/2under2Do you actually use your double stroller??

I definitely use the double stroller. I got a bugaboo donkey duo for $300 on fb marketplace. It’s great but honestly, I would probably be fine with most double strollers. None of them are perfect so just pick one and go with it. I will say that a lot of parents with the inline/tandem double strollers have said that they can be really hard to push on any kind of incline and on sidewalks.

r/BabyBumpsMother in Law really wants to buy a stroller
5 months ago

There’s a lot to consider with this decision. Whatever you get will probably be fine so try not to stress too much. Although you probably will anyways! 🤪 Consider how often you drive and if you want a stroller that you can attach the infant car seat to. There are some that you can buy the whole system from one company and there are stroller companies that have a few adapters for specific car seats. So you’ll have to do a little research into that if that’s something you’re interested in. There’s also the option of getting one of the infant car seats that have the stroller component built in so you just take the seat out and pop the wheels down. If you go with this option it will give you time to look into other stroller and think about what would work best for you. Then when baby grows out of the infant car seat you can get the convertible car seat (definitely look into ones that swivel iykyk) and a stroller. Another thing to consider is if you’re wanting to have more children. Some like the mockingbird can be converted into having multiple configurations for more children and babies. They’re expensive upfront but it will be cheaper when the second kids comes and you just have to buy the extra seat instead of getting a whole new stroller. Those, I’m told, can be a little difficult if you’re out on anything other than flat, smooth surfaces. Another thing to consider is where you are spending most of your time. Is it outdoor terrain? Get a sport/jogging style. Those can be long and bulky though so if you tend to spend your time doing more indoor activities get something more compact. We ended up with two strollers because of this dilemma. Both strollers served a purpose. I had friends that had a nuna travel stroller that supposedly could fit in overhead storage and took cracks in sidewalks very well. I have a bugaboo donkey duo now. It’s hella expensive but I got it super cheap on fb marketplace. But it takes even big cracks in sidewalks like a champ! I can more easily get over pretty much anything in this stroller with two kids in than I could with just one kid in my previous strollers. Those can be a single or double and come with both seats, a bassinet and a little basket for when you just have one seat.

r/beyondthebumpDoes anyone regret not getting a single to double stroller?

I love my single to double, a bugaboo donkey 2. We got it when I was pregnant with our second, kids are exactly 17 months apart and both in the 99th percentile. Its the best! I can miss our old single stroller (x-lander x-move I think) because that was a beast made for hiking trails. The bugaboo is more made for pavement but can still handle dirt roads with ease. Its very lightweight, no struggle with manoeuvring, I could take it with kids and groceries on the bus just a week ppm, fits through standard doors and reclining the seats isnt a struggle. Price was a big deal for us, a new bugaboo donkey costs more than our home does in a month. But we got ours second hand. It had been used for 3 kids and there are some cosmetic wear and tear on it and we couldn't care less. We paid about 20% off the full price, got two sitting seats, one bassinet and a side-bag for when you have it as a single. Its easy to find up for your car too.

Safety? The bigger the wheels the bigger the clearance. All makes for strollers with large wheel and small wheels. People in cities might be perfectly fine with smaller stroller with smaller wheels. As a dad I like Bugaboo - the quality and design are great. Get one Bugaboo with big wheels for outside and one small bugaboo for taking in the car and travel. You don’t want to take outside stroller into a car generally speaking. It’s a very nice to have both. The sun canopy for bugaboo is a great optional extra - cup holder was overrated imo

Bugaboo donkey can be single or double!! Side by side is the way to go. Tandem gets so heavy and hard to maneuver when loaded with 2 kids
