I love the bugaboo! Excellent stroller my only grudge is you need to assemble yourself and not enough storage space. I had the bugaboo fox2. I had my son in 2020. Love the stroller absolutely wonderful! I heard the bugaboo butterfly is amazing as a 2nd stroller.
Nope, that would be great! Online. Their strollers are absolute best! The quality is superior. Only con is you have to assembly yourself and no store. Customer service is great!
We have the bugaboo butterfly in the car for errands as it’s so quick to use getting in and out of the car and around shops. We have a bugaboo fox 3 that sits in the garage that we use for walks (also will put in the car if going out for a walk) as it’s sturdier and nicer for her for our daily walks in my opinion. I got both for free though, so I’m ok having two
Second bugaboo fox (fox2) for bush! Also live in the bush and have used it for both my babies in rough terrain and it’s been perfect. As flagged though, it is big so does take up a lot of boot space. But you’ll have no problem taking it out bush if that’s more of the priority. Edit: just saw you mention you have a prado, fox will be fine! I’ve got a much smaller SUV so it takes up a lot of space. It’ll be great in a prado I reckon.
I have the Fox 2 and totally second the height comment. I am 179cm and it drives me crazy how low baby is!! Especially when she was in the bassinet attachment. I also find it has very bad under storage because it is so low - I get sooo jealous when I see mums with the Vista or Juno which has great storage. I also *wish* it had an attachment like the Cybex which is a little basket for grocery shopping. Otherwise it is very sturdy and it seems super comfy for the baby. I notice how smooth it is when I have to use my travel pram and baby is jolting all over the place. I also appreciate how it is easy to get on and off the train with the big wheels.
I really like our bugaboo fox 3 but it is heavy. The fox and the dragonfly are built for totally different use cases. We bought a fox as we live in the countryside. It would be a nightmare taking it up and down stairs and on and off public transport everyday. It is big! My friend has a Cameleon (which I think is midway between a fox and dragonfly) and lives in a flat in central London. I find using that with her children still a bit of a squeeze in shops and on buses but much better than it would be with a fox. It does have the leaf problem, but it's rarely used for extreme off-roading. As others have said, go look at some in person. I would bet that most of the pushchairs made to be easy for city living are going to have smaller wheels and will have the leaf issue. In your case you might prioritise the benefits of the compact models but use a carrier or sling for the baby if you do some country walks.
I have a bugaboo fox 2, I got it new in 2021 for my first baby and now using it with my second. I really highly rate it. It’s so great to push imo better than an uppababy. The basket is smaller than the uppababy though. I love how the seat and bassinet share a frame so the storage of the one you aren’t using doesn’t take up too much space. I bought it new, but you can get great prams that are in fantastic condition second hand!
If you’re not worried about budget I would suggest not getting a double. If you need it later get one then, they are generally heavier and bulkier prams even in single mode. The uppababy Cruz for example is almost exactly the same as the vista just a single pram and a bit lighter and a tiny bit smaller footprint. As a nanny I pushed a fair few prams, and one I did not enjoy at all was a Joolz. I found it just not nice to push and steer. I’m personally very fond of Bugaboo prams, a Fox or a Kangaroo if you want a double. Edit to add: I’d suggest going to a shop or an expo and pushing a few different prams around with a 10kg at least weight in them too see how they feel with a child in rather than just empty. Most prams feel lovely empty! You can feel the difference as more weight gets on them. Also worth considering your needs, are you city based and not likely to do much off pavement prams use? Or lots of cross country? Cause that matters for choice too. If you’re on and off trams in Melbourne a smaller pram might be what you want
Go on marketplace and get yourself a second hand bugaboo fox or similar. Mine is from 2021, and I’ve got about a year still to use it before I’m done, if I were to sell it I’d be selling for around $250-300 and it’s in great condition, a few scratches on the frame from wear and tear but everything else basically perfect.
I’d go and try them in person at a shop or expo, and push them with a weight in. I personally have a bugaboo fox and love it. But it’s not lightweight or a one hand fold. A friend has the dragonfly and loves it for a smaller pram but still not a travel style
Take the parcel shelf out, that’s what I needed to do with my Holden Cruze. When bubs was really small I put the bassinet in the back seat but once he was bigger the seat part fit in the boot fine. I have a bugaboo fox
Lots of advice already but here’s my 5ct: We went with one of the top models, worth it as others mentioned. But ! Found one which was one version older. Slightly less bells and whistles but same build quality etc. Saved 40% off (Bugaboo fox 3 instead of 4)
Another bugaboo vote. We got the fox 2 (the fox 3 had just come out when we brought it, so we got it for a bit cheaper and figured the ‘new’ features on fox 3 weren’t worth paying extra for at the time). We live in SW London so it has been used for city/central London outings in addition to a river towpath and Richmond park walks. Have genuinely found it easy and light to manoeuvre on all surfaces and it was amazing for our first with very heavy use. We’ve just lit the bassinet back in for baby 2 and attached a buggy board for the toddler, and it looks set to solidly last another 3 years. An additional note- some of these travel system prams are expensive. There’s no denying it. But in my opinion the cost has been worth it given the near daily use.
Have loved my bugaboo fox. It’s now on baby 2 and has been fantastic, especially on rougher surfaces. No regrets. As others have said a second travel pram that can fit in the airplane cabin overhead bins is also really useful. I like the Jools Aer+ as it also has the lie flat function.
I did a full deepdive into prams before buying and found that uppababy and bugaboo are highly rated for a reason, they are very sturdy and soo easy to push. Which is very important as baby gets bigger. I have a fox 3 and I got a second hand fox 2 for my in laws for when they look after my baby, I needed an all terrain pram as my streets don’t have footpaths. We took baby on a holiday at 5m old so got the uppababy minu v2 and it was just okay, my child is very strong and stable (was able to crawl at the time) and also 80th percentile but was sliding around in it. We ended up getting a bugaboo butterfly which I have been so much happier with. The seat back is muchhhh taller than the minu-which my 5m old was touching the top of. Based on my experience I’d recommend getting a bugaboo, either on sale or secondhand bc they are 100% worth it and last. The stroller guy on YouTube has great videos about the international brands!
