We have a bugaboo fox 5 for walking the dog and it’s been pretty great on all terrains. The wheels come off and easy to clean, smooth and not too bumpy on rough ground We’ve just been away and got a bugaboo butterfly 2, so pleased with it. Was allowed in overhead lockers on the plane, folds up tiny and light weight - thought I wanted the joolz aer but felt flimsy compared to the butterfly. We still use the fox 5 at home and long walks but the butterfly for quick trips out The accessories are interchangeable too which saved a bit of money Granted it’s a minefield though!
The one I own now bugaboo fox 5 but if all I cared about was style I’d get the silver cross reef 2
All my research recommended two strollers - a really well built one, and a travel one, and that's what we ended up with. We actually bought two thinking we would keep one and saw they had different purposes. Here are some features that were important to us (either in buying or in retrospect): * The tallest handle possible for my tall husband (Bugaboo Fox 5) * Really good suspension for badly maintained roads (Bugaboo) * Lightness, foldability, and size to take indoors places like doctor's offices (Joolz Aer+) * Fit in care (Joolz Aer+) * Bassinet (both, but if I were to do it over I'd consider the one company that does overnight rated bassinets for naps) Things I didn't care about - car seat systems - each of these had adapters for our car seats. While we did carseats on both strollers for doctor's appts, for antyhing else we transferred baby to the bassinet. What we did find is that these really aren't interchangable. For example, the Joolz is really bumpy and our baby seems like they are sliding out of it now that they are bigger, but it's also the one that fits in the car and in public spaces well (like eating outdoors at a restaurant). The Bugaboo is much easier to handle once unfolded and comfier for baby but also now 50 pounds with the baby in it. The suspension really helps, but it can be a workout on hills and heavy to take down steps.
Two answer a few of your points - \- It was the best stroller for taller people that we tested \- It takes up our ENTIRE trunk (VW GTI) and we will have to get a bigger car soon (also because our car seats barely fit now) \- It's great on uneven sidewalks, best suspension \- I recommend the bassinet \- Consider whether you can find a Fox 5 on sale or used even \- It's heavy and this may impact you more later when the child is heavier after 1 year. We also got a Joolz Aer + that we use for times when the bugaboo is too unwieldy (doctor office visits, etc).
Joolz is great and light but not wonderful off of well-paved even roads. We have a bugaboo fox and a joolz aer plus and we use both for different needs. I also suggest getting the bassinet.
As an IVF person who had a kid later, I went all out. Bugaboo stroller, Clek car seat, etc.... I didn't have a registry. You are in a different place. I also believe in buying car seats and mattresses new for safety reasons. If you are being asked for a registry, I would populate it with small easy items and nothing big if this is a point of consternation among or if they are feeling financial pressure - it's also just good practice for a registry. But something meaningful like a nice book or something cute so people can engage in getting something adorable for the baby. As for work, avoid talking about it any more or say you're getting everything used off facebook marketplace (which actually does work well, I just didn't have energy while pregnant to go around buying things - I could have saved so much). Loved the baby bjorn bouncer by the way.
My wife and I are also torn between the cove and fox 5. One thing we liked about the Cove is that you get a separate bassinet and seat whereas th Fox 5 uses the fabric from The bassinet for the seat. The seat on the Cove lays near flat whereas the Fox 5 it doesn’t(I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t). We found the Silvercross felt lighter and looked better than the Fox 5. The only thing we liked about the fox 5 in comparison to the silver cross was the bassinet collapsed however, it was significantly heavier than the silver cross’ bassinet
Bugaboo fox 5 renew is lightweight (for a full size) and rides like a dream.
The bigger the stroller the better the suspension. You need to trade off. Or you need 2 strollers like many of us have. Midsize "Hybrid" strollers like the Dragonfly or the soon releasing Uppababy Kona will have better suspensions than travel strollers but worse than full size strollers. All of these will suck, and there's no objective way to google which one will suck least Full travel like the Jooz Aer, Butterfly, TRVL or Uppababy Minu will have very poor suspensions compared to even cheaper full size strollers. I'd avoid these entirely. The best answer here is 2 strollers but you don't have space. If not you'll have to pick which is more important to you. Keep in mind it's a bit of a pain but you can bring a full size stroller like the Uppababy Cruz or Bugaboo Fox on planes or car rides
