Based on 1 year's data from Feb 18, 2026 How it works
Over time I have had 4, though really only used two at a time, 1 - Doona; used 80% of the time until 13 months when he sized out 2 - second hand Bugaboo runner for skating/jogging starting at 6 weeks (not recommended by the manufacturer, but was fine for us on smooth paths) and I still use it occasionally for that purpose now even though he’s 6 and way too big for it but it’s still truckin! I’ve used it at theme parks up until this year but otherwise it rarely goes out of the neighborhood 3 - Bugaboo chameleon, I had no plan to get this but I wanted the $50 snack cup for the runner and I found it packaged with an entire chameleon setup with tons of accessories for $50, so I held onto this stroller for awhile. It was a beautiful and smooth stroller but I didn’t really need a full size additional to the jogger and my son was already aged out of the bassinet. I think I used it twice before reselling it (keeping that snack cup) 4 - GB Pockit AllCity, this basically replaced the Doona and then used it until age 5 as my main stroller and of course as a travel stroller.
Safety? The bigger the wheels the bigger the clearance. All makes for strollers with large wheel and small wheels. People in cities might be perfectly fine with smaller stroller with smaller wheels. As a dad I like Bugaboo - the quality and design are great. Get one Bugaboo with big wheels for outside and one small bugaboo for taking in the car and travel. You don’t want to take outside stroller into a car generally speaking. It’s a very nice to have both. The sun canopy for bugaboo is a great optional extra - cup holder was overrated imo
We tested at Albee Baby then got a brand new open box Bugaboo for $400 off ($800 vs. $1,200 retail). Still expensive and not <$500, but there’s loads of stuff on Facebook marketplace.
We bought from Facebook Marketplace. Albee is still pretty pricey.
Doona then bugaboo here, found it easier to collapse one handed than the yoyo
We also bought a bugaboo and lucked out tha it was a practically new second hand one. It was so sturdy and took such a beating. That being said, I kind of wish we had gotten a cybex. It would have fit with our car seat which also reclined enough for it to not be dangerous to leave a bay in it for a short shopping trip. One of the biggest things we looked at were the wheels. We have lots of cobblestones where we are so they had to be big. People with small wheels get stuck all the time.
As an IVF person who had a kid later, I went all out. Bugaboo stroller, Clek car seat, etc.... I didn't have a registry. You are in a different place. I also believe in buying car seats and mattresses new for safety reasons. If you are being asked for a registry, I would populate it with small easy items and nothing big if this is a point of consternation among or if they are feeling financial pressure - it's also just good practice for a registry. But something meaningful like a nice book or something cute so people can engage in getting something adorable for the baby. As for work, avoid talking about it any more or say you're getting everything used off facebook marketplace (which actually does work well, I just didn't have energy while pregnant to go around buying things - I could have saved so much). Loved the baby bjorn bouncer by the way.
I have triplets but the donkey is so worth it. Especially because our kids are severely hypotonic/hypertonic and their PTs say any other stroller they'd likely be uncomfortable in. We'll probably need to get adaptive strollers soon, but the donkey is a beast and holds a lot of their medical equipment and its sturdy and I never worry about it tipping etc. Our boys are just about 15 months but are still in 6-9 month clothing so we used the bassinet way over when others stop using it. Started using the actual seat and they're quite comfortable sitting up even though they are more comfortable laying down because of their CP. Bugaboo has great customer service too. Someone cut the frame just cosmetic and bugaboo sent us a new one.
I’ve literally never seen them there and I spent many hours there trying to convince myself I needed and could afford a Bugaboo. (Surprise to no one, I didn’t and I couldn’t! Lol) Nuna, Uppababy, Silver Cross, Thule, Doona, Joolz, Cybex, sure. Chicco? Never. Maybe this is a new development? 🤷🏻♀️
UPDATE: moved comment to where it belonged 🤦🏻♀️ sorry, OP! You’re providing valuable information and I wasn’t negating you at all! I mean there isn’t any data published. At best you will get anecdotal stories which aren’t particularly insightful. Presumably, 99.9% of people who bring strollers have no issues. I have bought higher end strollers (Uppababy, Bugaboo) in a dozen times and had no issues. I use an AirTag, mostly because once or twice cast members have moved them (or my spouse parked it, but I retrieved it) and it’s helpful. Personally, I think the concerns about stroller theft are overblown. It’s a highly secure and monitored area, that costs hundreds of dollars to enter. I think items in strollers is more common, but even that I think is rampant. Anecdotally I’ve had no issues and leave both my stroller and items in it unattended for long durations. But, again, without data we are all just speculating.
Definitely agree it depends on where you live and what kind of transportation you regularly will use. We have a big Bugaboo stroller we really like but we don’t live in Seoul and only walk or drive day to day. When we are up in Seoul visiting family we have a smaller more compact stroller that is much more portable. Bulky strollers are not very conducive to Seoul’s subways or catching a quick taxi when their trunk space is pretty small. We absolutely wouldn’t be able to get our main stroller into any sedan cab I’ve ever caught here. If you really like your current stroller and it’s not cost prohibitive I’d say still bring it, even if you only use it in your neighborhood. Coupang (Korean Amazon equivalent) has plenty of quality stroller options if you want to get a more portable one once you see what your day to day will be like.
