Bobs are all the rage but EXPENSIVE. We ended up with the Chicco Activ3 travel system and I have yet to find a trail that my friends Bob can manage that my Chicco can’t plus my car seat can click into the stroller with no adapter and I can seat my child fully up (some joggers can’t and some kids don’t like the recliner). Graco also has a similar model
Get a jogging stroller. They are soooooo much easier to handle. I happily pushed mine up an uneven grassy hill yesterday and it handles like a dream (one-handed!) on smooth surfaces. I have the chicco activ3, but really any jogging stroller is good. ETA I’m on my second kid with this stroller and it’s holding up really well.
I have one stroller I've only ever had one, my son is 4. I think we probably have another 2 years maybe with it. It's the Chicco jogging stroller activ3. I don't jog but, I wanted it because it was "outdoorsy", it handles trail walks really well (goes over big roots and moderate sand and mud), it's super easy to hop the curb, it's a size you can gate check at the airport, it's a size allowed in Disney, it fits in my trunk, it holds everything, and you can't accidentally step on the brakes while you're walking. Honestly I love it. The only thing I didn't like was that the fabric faded quickly. But I did call and ask if they could do anything and they sent all new fabric parts. I used someone else's stroller during a playdate and I hated it. The small wheels drove me crazy!! Getting stuck in large sidewalk cracks hard to hop the curb and I kept stepping on the brakes on accident while walking which was super annoying.
My chicco jogging stroller held a bravo carseat. I could probably have gate checked it on a plane if I had wanted to, but it wouldn’t have been the most ideal. It had a small amount of storage. I never used a stroller with a bassinet attachment though.
The chicco jogging stroller is horrible. We bought one and immediately got rid of it. We love our BOB though 😬 Have been using it for 2.5 years with our almost 3 year old and have the stroller adapter for our second (coming next month). I’m toying with the idea of selling it and buying the double, but my son doesn’t use the stroller as much these days.
If you have a lot of trunk space in your car and don't mind something kinda bulky, I'd recommend the Chicco Activ3 travel system. Car seat can attach directly to the stroller. Very smooth ride, even on trails. Extended canopy, hand breaks, decent storage underneath, cup holders, and folds very quickly/easily. Tires come off very easily if you need to break it down more. It's pretty cheap compared to most of the other ones I saw recommended while researching too. The only real negative for me is that it is quite big and can struggle in tight areas, like small restaurants.
We did the Chicco activ3 with the infant car seat/attachment to the stroller. It was easy to take in and out of the car with the base and attach to the stroller and we used that up to month six. By then the kiddo was sitting up and wanted to face forward in the stroller. It’s been pretty nice.
I have a bunch of strollers and two kids! The best feature of any stroller is one hand fold by far. I have a stroller that is built for two kids but it’s clunky to fold up and I can’t do it one handed. It’s also a pain in the ass to get in the trunk. I also have a jogging stroller that I haven’t used in years but it’s great for walking/jogging (obviously). Personally, I would choose a stroller that is a one handed fold, on the lighter side, but is also compatible with your infant seat (if you have one). I have a Chicco infant seat and the Chicco Bravo stroller (one handed fold) and I’d recommend them both. I’ve been using them both for five years and they’re still in good shape! I also have Chicco’s jogging stroller (great but huge and clunky, not for indoors), the Graco Ready2Grow (good for two kids but still big), and the Baby Trend wagon (great for two kids).
