We got the Chicco Bravo 3-in-1 Trio Travel System, Bravo Quick-Fold Stroller with KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat and Base. About to use it within the next week or so! Was easy to put together and had great reviews on consumer reports and elsewhere. Family and friends highly recommended a travel system so that’s what we went with.
For what it’s worth, I got the cheapo Chico trio travel system for my now 4 year old. I have left it on the front porch of our house in the sun and out on the driveway in the rain for almost 4 years now and it still works great. It’s a bit dirty and sun bleached for sure, and some of the frame parts squeak a bit, but it’s been driven into the ground and held up amazingly well. The fancier chicco has a few more features I would have liked (bassinet option, parent facing) but it’s served us well and was very affordable. I didn’t even like the vista in the store, the folding mechanism was more complicated and it didn’t even fit in our small car. The other perk of a cheaper one is I didn’t feel too precious about it, we threw it in the car and took it on planes and didn’t worry too much about breaking it. I’m expecting baby #2 soon and I’m ok with using this one at least for a little while.
Following for the same reasons. We have a stroller from our 4 year old (chicco bravo) which has held up but is getting a little creaky. I never had the bassinet with my first and now wondering if I want it for my second. I’ve been looking at the joie ginger and the baby jogger city mini air (new) but the more compact ones are a bit of a trade off on wheel size. We have a Thule jogging stroller for winter which is huuuuuge
We have a Kia niro and went with the chicco key fit and bravo. It’s not super compact but definitely small enough to fit laying flat. For convertible we have the britax allegiance, we now have two and are squeezing both in there!
The perfect travel system doesn’t exist. Save your sanity and buy something within budget that will work for you and your lifestyle (maybe prioritize something lightweight!) today. No need to stress about future children, weight limits etc. I drove myself crazy finding the perfect travel system! We ultimately went with the chicco mini bravo plus system because of the price point, high safety rating on the keyfit 30, and option to use the stroller without the infant seat.
Your travel system is primarily a tool. You’re going to spend a lot of time hauling baby around in it — IF you are car dependent. While I would encourage considering usability above aesthetic, this sounds like a larger question of money between you and your partner that no one else can answer or solve for you. Regarding uppababy travel systems, we have a vista and I can’t imagine using that thing for everyday errands, bringing baby to the pediatrician, etc. I love our vista for long walks and errands I run on foot, but not for small trips via car. The thing is heavy and bulky and takes up a ton of space in the car. We use a smaller chicco stroller for our travel system and I still think it’s too big and a pain to haul out 90% of the time. I normally end up just hauling baby in and out places in his infant carseat and placing it in the cart. In this regard, the minu might be a better bet over for sure the vista but also maybe the Cruz. I’d recommend getting a feel for them in person though and really consider your use basis for your travel system.
Totally different from your other brands but I’m 5’2” as well, my mom is 5”, and my husband is 6” even and we all love my Chicco Keyfit 30 travel system. It is a comfortable height for all of us and my son loves it as well! Mine came with an infant seat, base, base to attach it to the stroller, and a big kid seat for the stroller and we’ve used it for 2 years and love it. It folds up easily, fits in our sedan and our hatchback, and it’s not too big and bulky for my mom and I to handle ourselves.
We had a Chicco Bravo single wide on board and it was tight in the hallways and room. I’d venture to guess that a double wide would be near impossible. Also, in our experience, we rarely used the stroller on the ship for sea days (with a 9 month old) and just took it out for port days off ship
Our baby isn't here yet (38 +4...any day!) but we also chose chico. We went with the Bravo LE system and are obsessed! Pretty affordable and functional.
We looked at the Bravo system in target but ended up getting the Bravo Le trio sight unseen only because it had a few more features. Can't give a full review yet because we are still waiting for the baby to arrive (im 40w+2!) I can vouch that installing the car seat was such a breeze and I have tested the stroller out trying to practice walking with the dog. I LOVE the cup holders and accessory tray. It's so comfortable and easy to walk with. Folding it is so effortless too.
