We had a bunch over the years \- started with the Joovy Twin Roo+ car seat stroller (wagon like). Hated it. Was clunky and hard to move \- UppaBaby Vista front/back. This was our mainstay for 3 years. Needed something narrow in NY and the basket was epic \- Chicco C6 umbrella style stroller x2 for traveling. Hated it. Basket was useless, I kept hitting it with my feet and it hurt my back \- contours bitsy travel stroller x2. Amazing. Very easy to use and did everything we needed. Ended up being stored in our car as we had a side by side at this point which we used in our neighbourhood and we used these when we needed strollers when about town \- Thule Urban Glide side by side. Kids were 3-4 when we got this. We moved cities and had more space. Basket was solid and interacting with both kids at the same time was great. Easier for walk to pre school and general things around the neighbourhood but we were trying to do walking more. They could annoy each other was the only big drawback but they gotta start learning somewhere The approach worked well for us.
Honestly, we used the Parker baby co backpack and it killed my back and shoulders…eventually I moved on to a tote bag (I love the horizontal duck bag from baggu) and a nylon shoulder bag (medium size baggu crescent). I also like the various fanny pack diaper bags you can find online. I’ve found that I just need way less stuff than a whole big backpack, even when she was an infant. I’m intrigued by the citymouse diaper bags for my next baby, but I might just keep using my nylon crescent. As far as travel systems go, it really does depend on your taste and your preferences. We had the Chicco travel system and really liked it but I honestly wore my daughter far more often than I used her stroller. Once I stopped wearing her, we switched to the Chicco umbrella stroller. I’m a big fan of all things smaller and more convenient lol
I think it depends what activities you do and how big your car is. I walk and run, so a thule jogging stroller with a car seat adapter made sense. You can't run with a baby, but I bought it knowing that when she was old enough, I could jog with it. It is tough(big!) for running errands, so I bought a cheap tiny chicco umbrella stroller when baby could sit up.. the thule RULES though. If you aren't trying to shop with it, it is great and easy to push. It could fit in the trunk of my car, but both wheels had.to be removed. I just had another kid, so I bought a dual baby jogger running stroller but it doesnt have a car seat adapter, and although rated for newborns for walking. - that is a joke and I dont trust the harness. It was on sale, so that was the only appeal really. I now walk when I have both kids with a veer wagon (cruiser city)..but I need a huge suv to transport it. The wagon is pretty great on pavement so far. It is pricey, but I do really enjoy it so far. I us ea car seat adapter and my toddler chills in it. I plan on using it for times there is ample space (zoo, beach, parks, etx)
The stroller I used most after my kid turned 1 or so was the Chicco lightweight umbrella stroller. We had a big fancy stroller, but it almost never got used. The Chicco was grab and go.
We have a couple stroller/wagons now... a Vista V3, a jogging stroller, a compact one made by Chicco, a Pivot Explore... We use the Pivot Explore the most now that we have 2 kids and the youngest is 1... it is great for off-road. When it gets tough, it is better in wagon mode since you're pulling up instead of pushing down. I have friends with the Cruz, and it is pretty similar to the Vista, which is pretty good on dirt and grass. The larger the wheels, the better it will be, so the jogging stroller is the best for rough terrain, but the wagon wins in soft stuff like sand. The Vista is pretty darn good though, and has more options vs the jogging stroller. The Chicco we have has small wheels and hasn't been used in months.
We used the infant seat and a little chicco trolley thing. Like a much smaller lightweight stroller. I was able to use the carrier fairly quickly but the combo was easier.
