Honestly, we used the Parker baby co backpack and it killed my back and shoulders…eventually I moved on to a tote bag (I love the horizontal duck bag from baggu) and a nylon shoulder bag (medium size baggu crescent). I also like the various fanny pack diaper bags you can find online. I’ve found that I just need way less stuff than a whole big backpack, even when she was an infant. I’m intrigued by the citymouse diaper bags for my next baby, but I might just keep using my nylon crescent. As far as travel systems go, it really does depend on your taste and your preferences. We had the Chicco travel system and really liked it but I honestly wore my daughter far more often than I used her stroller. Once I stopped wearing her, we switched to the Chicco umbrella stroller. I’m a big fan of all things smaller and more convenient lol
I think it depends what activities you do and how big your car is. I walk and run, so a thule jogging stroller with a car seat adapter made sense. You can't run with a baby, but I bought it knowing that when she was old enough, I could jog with it. It is tough(big!) for running errands, so I bought a cheap tiny chicco umbrella stroller when baby could sit up.. the thule RULES though. If you aren't trying to shop with it, it is great and easy to push. It could fit in the trunk of my car, but both wheels had.to be removed. I just had another kid, so I bought a dual baby jogger running stroller but it doesnt have a car seat adapter, and although rated for newborns for walking. - that is a joke and I dont trust the harness. It was on sale, so that was the only appeal really. I now walk when I have both kids with a veer wagon (cruiser city)..but I need a huge suv to transport it. The wagon is pretty great on pavement so far. It is pricey, but I do really enjoy it so far. I us ea car seat adapter and my toddler chills in it. I plan on using it for times there is ample space (zoo, beach, parks, etx)
The stroller I used most after my kid turned 1 or so was the Chicco lightweight umbrella stroller. We had a big fancy stroller, but it almost never got used. The Chicco was grab and go.
Three haha. We had just one for the first 18 months. It was the Chicco bravo that went with our keyfit car seat. And then we went to the beach and needed something smaller because the bravo was not going to fit in the car with the rest of our crap, so we got a chicco liteway. Second kid came along and I wanted to upgrade our main stroller to a double so we got a vista, but kept the bravo because new baby was using the same keyfit car seat. She’s out of that seat now so I’ll be getting rid of the bravo soon. I use both the vista and liteway regularly.
Came to say the same! I was gifted a chicco umbrella stroller at my baby shower with my first, fall of 2009. I've used it nonstop over the course of 15yrs (started using it with my 1st around 1yo) with 3 kids + my nephews, and its still in amazing condition!! I've used it to haul groceries, hold 4 HUGE pumpkins we got free at a fall fest, adults have used it as a chair at impromtu beach visits, crazy stuff, and it's still going strong!! Most useful gift I've ever received!! Looks like they're still made the same but with ergonomic handles now. Its called the Chicco Liteway. Not sure which I have and the tag came off so I can't confirm but it looks just like ours.
Check out the baby trend wagon. I have that and a Chicco single stroller, because I thought it would be a really big deal to take my baby out of the car seat when going places, which we do frequently. It turns out, it's not really a big deal and she wakes up whenever we park anyway. So in hindsight, it would have been way better to get a stroller with bassinet option and the most petite, lightweight one available within a reasonable price range. The Baby Trend wagon is epic and enormous, so not great for driving around with but amazing for your neighborhood and easily accessible trails or if you have an SUV. It's a bassinet stroller with wagon pulley and mosquito/shade net plus tons of room to store phone, drinks, lunchbox, and other stuff. The bassinet turns into 2 seat pads that 2 babies can buckle into. I think it holds 100lbs, so kids can pretty much use it until they're too big length wise.
I have a Chicco and it’s midrange at best and I wish I had gone with a more expensive one. I live in NYC so it would have been enormously important for maneuverability.
Honestly, the Chicco stroller that has been rained on several times and what not works just fine and I spent $400 on that and the infant car seat and base. I toyed with purchasing a Mockingbird but ultimately decided against it because she’s going to out grow it and selling it seems silly. The umbrella stroller I used on vacation last year was a more worthwhile purchase and I will probably break it out again for summertime adventures (i.e. zoo, aquarium, etc.)
Agreed on the luxury brands of strollers/car seats. I have a chicco stroller and a Graco car seat and they’re snacking
We love our Chicco car seat and stroller (the stroller handles amazingly well and is super easy to fold up/open) and the oxo dispenser is great too!
My toddler is 2.5 and we only have an umbrella stroller that we only use for Disneyland, other than that we just end up pushing an empty stroller around. We got rid of our bulky Chicco stroller soon after she learned to walk. The fact that you have a stroller just for the looks is so ridiculous, especially if you’re scared of dirtying it up. I’ve realized now that kids will somehow gravitate towards the items you hold dearest and break them or mess them up. I say you donate one of the strollers you don’t use as much or list it somewhere if you want some of the money back.
