We brought the Ergo Baby Metro Plus. It is an our daily stroller- but also folds up to fit in the overhead cabin on a plane (very compact!). It is slim, and can lay down completely flat when the child is inside for naps if needed. It’s a pricier stroller- but we have had it for 2 years now and it’s been a breeze! On the boat itself, we only used it when waiting in line for character meet & greets, we carried her, or she walked the other times when she was 18 months when we went on the Fantasy for a week. It fit under the bed with no issue when we weren’t using it!
mom of one with a second on the way -- If it markets itself as newborn ready, I think that recline should be fine. the "flat" idea is just so they dont slide around. don't get the metro+, unless they've made improvements I haven't seen to the canopy -- you'll want lots of shade for your newborn. i LOVE my original Minu (and would love the V2 even more), but the Joolz Aer is slightly more travel-friendly if that is important to you. It is small enough to bring into the airplane cabin if you're concerned about gate checking and is lighter/smaller. And you are smart to prioritize one-hand fold, that is crucial! And the reason I do NOT like the YoYo.
I have an Ergobaby Metro+ that I love as well. It is my travel stroller, but it would be totally good enough as my main stroller. I keep it in the car for on the go as well.
Third the metro+. It is my in the car stroller as well as my travel stroller. It is not flimsy and sturdy for its size. The trifold helps with that I think, rather than folding umbrellas style. I just took it to Mexico and it was fine on the dirt/gravel roads. Before I got it, I remember reading review that it handled cobblestones well enough. It does have some suspension. I’ll be taking it to Ireland in the spring to test out!
We have the metro+ and I love it. I would get the new version, the metro3 if you’re buying now. It has all the adaptors and has one hand fold which the metro+ didn’t. I have taken it on multiple trips within Canada as well as to Mexico and Ireland.
The metro+ isn’t one hand fold/unfold. That’s really the only thing irritating about it.
You aren’t going to get a travel friendly jogging stroller. I would just baby wear for hikes while travelling. For a car seat friendly travel stroller, I would recommend the ergobaby metro 3. It is newborn friendly even without the car seat as it has a bassinet mode. You would have to get a car seat that works with the adaptors. I have the older version (Metro+) and love it. It’s been on 5 plane trips, with two out of country. We just came back from Ireland this week and it was great.
I have taken my Ergobaby metro+ on 3 plane trips within Canada, to Mexico, and Ireland. I love it. There’s a new version, the metro 3.
I have the metro+ (precursor to metro 3) and love it. The only thing that is a bit annoying is the 2 hand fold, but I know they changed that for the metro 3! My 22 month old is still very comfortable in it. I have never actually put it in an overhead bin, just gate checked it. But I’ve taken it on 3 plane trips in Canada, to Mexico, and to Ireland. It lives in my car, so it’s our main out and about stroller.
My metro+ fits in the footwell between my toddlers car seat and the front seat.
The ergobaby metro is a great travel stroller!
Yeah, I’ve taken mine to Ireland, Mexico, and a number of trips in Canada. Been great every time!
That is true, the unfold is not one handed. But otherwise I love it. And for me personally I haven’t run into that many times where it’s been an issue 🤷🏼♀️ I have always had a carrier/wrap/sling as well.
I love my Ergobaby Metro and it can be used from newborn.
This question is asked a lot, so I recommend using the search function. You’ll get lots of recent discussion, including several from the last week. I have the ergobaby metro and really like it.
We have an ergobaby metro + and it is small, smooth, and fits in the overhead compartment of an airplane. Our son is 3 1/2 and we still use it! I couldn’t deal with the uppababy, way too huge! The ergobaby I can use with one hand when opening a door etc. We ALSO have a bob which we use to walk to the park an neighborhood for longer walks. I don’t put this one on my car. https://ergobaby.com/the-metro-3-stroller?tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=17158690963&tw_kwdid=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17154282930&gbraid=0AAAAADk2sN2eRE_Qi_8uWHU-3g693W50C&gclid=CjwKCAiAmp3LBhAkEiwAJM2JUJ5AiI2PSe7nY0jxoiaa1sijVGs1lfdhGbi9r4lql_x1xgWUs0ZSHxoClN8QAvD_BwE
Two main ones—we like the vista for our neighborhood and a cheaper one for travel (mountain buggy nano or ergo metro plus that converts for newborns, trifolds, and can have a car seat balanced safely on top. I skipped the Doona since it only works for the first year or so. (We also got the uppababy g luxe as a third for our off the charts tall kiddo that didn’t fit in other strollers by the time he was 2 years old.)
Get ergobaby metro plus or similar and you have a daily driver and travel stroller in one. I’ve heard good things about bugaboo butterfly or uppababy minu. Unless you’re planning to use the under basket storage a lot (e.g. you are a one car family and will use it to walk and go grocery shopping, etc) then a travel stroller would probably suit you just fine. A lot of ppl don’t realize this I don’t think. P.s. the honest truth is that a lot of people will recommend expensive baby products not because they are actually great (although many are) but because they have to justify the cost to themselves. I see this a lot with car seats- people love to recommend expensive seats when more affordable ones fit better in their car, are less likely to be outgrown and are easier to install.
The Ergobaby metro plus does fold into a bassinet but probably not best for rough terrain. I don’t know if you will find a good travel stroller that’s suitable for rough terrain so I’d do a travel stroller and something like the Thule Chariot. You can buy infant insert and even skis for winter.
Ergobaby metro has been great for us. We have used it on several trips- planes and trains, Europe, Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax, Florida, Mexico… it’s now out daily driver. Has a ride along board you can purchase which is GREAT for airports with two kids under 5. I don’t know what I’ll do when my oldest grows out of it, it’s so handy!
Another vote for the Ergobaby Metro+ (we got the Deluxe). We got the travel bag/backpack for it too which was really convenient for the airport! Also, Ergobaby will give you 15% off if you sign up for the newsletter so if you stack it with a sale it’s a pretty great deal. Our travel stroller has become our running around stroller and it’s wonderful, no regrets!
We have the Ergobaby Metro plus. Traveled with my baby in a 20 hour flight with a 2 hour layover. It was lightweight and comfortable enough for me to carry on my own with my 3 month old as my husband wasn’t travelling with us. Plus it has a complete recline feature for newborns. Also used it as a primary stroller during the same vacation and bub seems to enjoy it! Oh, also…overhead bin compatible!
We have the ergo baby metro plus and love it! It lays flat so you can start using it from birth without the car seat! But you can get an adapter if you want the car seat too.
We have the ergobaby metro and we love it. I love it even more now that I know it’s highest ranked/recommended option under $300!
I love my ergobaby metro+ - it's the main buggy that lives in my car now. Very sturdy and seems comfortable for the child
