Apparently itās quality of materials and convenience. 10 weeks pp and to me, thereās literally not much difference. We had a convertible car sear at first and that was so easy and stress-free. The only thing I like about an infant car seat, which I got later, is that it makes doctorās appointments and errands a little easier but thatās all. My mom bought me the Evenflo Pivot Suite travel system but I wouldnāt have spent money on it if I had to buy it myself. If you have Nuna /Uppa money, you may as well go with Cybex since theyāre SO much nicer for the same price point. If you want a more affordable travel system or stroller, just make sure you pay attention to the weight and remember to ADD the weight of your child in your head. Idk why but it didnāt even occur to me Iād have to carry my heavy ass baby in the infant car seat while recovering. Iām sorry if this wasnāt more helpful š A lot of people spend hours researching but still end up hating the one they bought while others completely wing it and end up love what they chose! Good luck!! š
Iām 5ā lol but the Doona is really short compared to other strollers! The Evenflo Pivot Suite is around the perfect height for me, might be a little high for someone shorter than me but not bad. If you have a Nordstrom or Dillardās near you, they have a wider variety of strollers and travel systems available on the floor to try. Pottery Barn might have a couple too!
We ended up with this once since it can go from car seat to stroller mode, and has a toddler seat mode as well although I'm 5'5 and it's a pretty tall stroller, since I wanted the baby closer so I didn't have to bend down as much. I'm not sure if it's going to be too bulky for you, but maybe there's a place that sells them in person where you can try them out? https://a.co/d/1ktAnu9
As someone also with adhd, asking for advice can sometimes come with a giant blurb of text, which becomes less helpful. I would get more suggestions than I originally had anyway. I know it sucks, but thereās tons of strollers because itās so personalized to your needs. There are way too many factors. In the end, I said screw research and went with the cool one that let me have a dog in the bottom basket (with a doggy ramp!) (Evenflo pivot troop.) If theyāre highly rated, then goodāmy baby canāt tell the differenceāonly I can. This āscrew it decision methodā has worked out for us. FWIW, I had started an intense search on lightweight strollers before, and Jool lightweight is where I ended up for the brief period I researched. (Evenflo pivot troop is hella heavy but I am happy because I didnāt have to do more research. And it works.)
We originally bought the Evenflo Pivot Suite and hated it, and ended up selling it and buying a Baby Jogger City Mini used when my son was about 7 months old. I wish we would have gotten the City Mini from the beginning - it folds up easily, reclines almost flat, glides like a dream, handles different terrains well, and isnāt too heavy. It also takes up WAY less space in my trunk. My friends who live in NYC also love City Minis, so theyāre good for city life. I believe they also have a bassinet attachment, and I know they have attachments for different brands of car seats.
I too am too fat to baby wrap, so I get it. We bought an Evenflo Pivot Troop stroller that the carseat sits up top, and a small dog can fit below. Well, our dogs are too big anyway, lol, so I love using the bottom for shopping! I can fit so much in there, and if I ever need a bit more room, I can always grab a basket to carry with me. I take his stroller with me everywhere! Much better than carrying his carseat! I'm weak š
Just fyi they are fairly flimsy and I was not comfortable using it past 6 months due to issues with it and fear of tipping. Just be careful. You can see my comment to see all the issues.
I regret our Evenflo travel system so avoid that. Honestly all Evenflo products. Iām on baby #2 and feel lost as well on what new system to pick.
The infant car seat attachment got stuck on the stroller part 3-4 times as well as getting stuck in the base in the car. It felt very flimsy as well. It starting squeaking a month or feel after using it which was not able to be fixed l. I was at the park and heard the same squeak and low and behold the same stroller was behind us. It claims to be able to be opened with one hand but would stuck in the closed position often so I would have to set the infant seat down to mess with it. Overall it was a cheap travel system and we got what we paid for. I saw other people saying the same thing on I think Mommit so I clearly didnāt do enough research at the time. I was pregnant and overwhelmed but now I need to find a better travel system for two. https://a.co/d/2WaN2I3 this is the stroller we have.
I would have found it really difficult without something to push the infant car seat around in. Shopping, dr appointments, meeting up with anyone, running into anywhere either requires you carry the infant seat or attach it to a stroller. Those seats are heavy with a baby in them. You canāt carry much anything else if you needed to. Also, your baby will likely fall asleep in their car seat and itās much nicer to transfer the car seat to the stroller base so they can continue sleeping. Walking has also saved me as a mom truly. I needed to go for walks not only for to help lose baby weight but for my sanity. 2 years later and pregnant and still walk most days. A travel system is great! That is a base stroller with various attachments that you can use the infant car seat with and then use other seats with as they grow. You can use it for a while and then sell it. Do not the Evenflo pivot. Itās a POS. I also had an emergency c section and had a hard time carrying the infant car seat around for a bit. Canāt imagine carrying that and the diaper bag and my purse after a c section. You never know if youāll need one.
I have an evenflo stroller with an infant car seat that attaches to it. The bassinet part was so nice when he was newborn and now that he is a bit older, the infant car seat is extremely heavy, we transitioned the bassinet part to be the toddler stroller style and it's awesome. I believe it's a 3 in 1 stroller, so very handy.
Yep š„² honestly in my case itās really not a huge deal, I feel like my post partum anxiety is making me think itās bigger than it is lol. We bought the evenflo pivot travel system because it was affordable and honestly we had some pretty awful stuff happen in our family at the tail end of pregnancy so we were way too scatter brained to do proper research. Going back I would definitely pick a better one. I canāt stand the car seat or the stroller. The car seat had absolutely no head support whatsoever, we ended up just buying something to put in to hold our babies head straight. Mind you he was 5lbs so he was a tiny guy. The shoulder straps are held in place by the stitch/seam on the fabric so they CONSTANTLY slip through the metal piece thatās meant to hold them in place. I donāt know how the hell this would protect a baby in a car accident. The stroller feels so cheap itās not even funny. All of the wheels squeak when you push it. Weāve taken it apart and put it back together but constantly have to spray it with WD-40. My husband and I joke when we leave the house not to forget the lil travel spray bottle lmao. The toddler seat does not seem comfortable for my little guy although he doesnāt put up much of a fuss (thanks buddy). Again not a huge deal and it is definitely more affordable. Thankfully we got a new car seat and use a bay carrier more than the stroller right now. Perhaps we got a wonky defective model or something but my mom brain canāt listen to those squeaky wheels much longer.
