Hi - definitely not okay in a normal pram (for safety reasons) - but you can find affordable jogging prams second hand (or even cheap-ish ones online). I got the Hauck Runner Alpha which is not "technically" a running stroller but it has pretty much all the required characteristics (large air filled tires, suspension system, front wheel that locks. It doesn't have a handbrake (but fine unless you tend to run fast downhill - but it doesn't sound like it) or a wrist strap (I bought a £5 one from amazon). It's on Argos for £150 but I got mine second-hand. I would have loved the Cybex Avi Spin (it's gorgeous but pricey). Other brands are Thule and Out n About. Most "Baby Jogger" brand strollers are not for running (they just have that name) I'm also not much of a runner but have loved having a running stroller and it's really helped my mental health. It feels like a nice activity to do together, even on days when he's fussy and I have to stop lots. You didn't mention age but you'd need to wait until at least 6 months / have good head control (I started at 5 because he had great head control, I only ran on pavement initially, and my running pace was not too different from my walking pace haha). He loved it from 5 to 7 months and from 8-9 months going through a phase of "I don't want to be restrained" (so hating car seats / high chairs / strollers etc but weirdly still happy in the carrier). He tends to get less angry in the running stroller than the regular one - perhaps there's more to see at a slightly faster pace. I have friends with toddlers who have running strollers and still love them - and I went to one Parkrun with it(didn't finish absolute last!!) and there were lots of people there running with prams. Other than that I've gone to mum & baby yoga and enjoyed it as an activity for him, but felt frustrated re: not getting as much "exercise" as I would've if he wasn't there (whereas with running pram it's the opposite - even if I'm fast walking up a hill, it's a workout to push it). Re: dog walks I have baby in a carrier when I do it and that's a massive workout in itself (with weight progressively increasing too)
You’re not getting confused at all! My understanding is that it’s not a running stroller on a technicality, rather than suitability. From one of my previous comments on a different post: “I got the Hauck Runner Alpha which is not "technically" a running stroller but it has pretty much all the required characteristics (large air filled tires, suspension system, front wheel that locks. I've got the Hauck and it's great! I've had it for 3 years ish now and it's held up really well. Fastest 5k with it was about 23 minutes and I got a 10km PB with it at just shy of 49 minutes. The only difference between it and my friends much more expensive is the lack of suspension but we haven't noticed it having a different for running on tarmac (or forest paths that are solid)
I have a Hauck runner and it's perfect. £130 new and does the job brilliantly. The same as my friends who have the expensive ones minus a bit of suspension - but we tarmac run 95% of the time so it's perfect for that!
You should look at the Hauck Runner. You can get one in Argos at the minute for £130. It’s a great running pram but is also excellent for everyday use.
From a dad: “Hauck” strollers are really good. Been using for 15 months or more. - Buy the ones with BIG wheels 🛞 - The material should be such that you can clear with wet cloth. It may get dirty every other time.
I am doing my due diligence in researching what I want for a travel system. on my first baby, I had no clue. so I had 3 prams (hauck, cossato and silvercross). First was too bulky, heavy. second was too wide. still using it now and I am getting tired of it. the silvercross I have is for travel only, and flimsy. I went to chatgpt and put everything I needed in a travel system as I struggled so bad on my first.
