I was at the Joie store last weekend with my husband (we live only a few miles from their flagship store in Carlsbad, CA) and we were told that the main difference between Joie and Nuna is the fabric. If you or your husband are prone to eczema and other skin issues that your baby may also be prone to, Nunas are the better option because of the material used. They also have fire retardant options which some people prefer. Other than that, they're basically the same - they're even manufactured in the same facility because they're owned by the same parent company (along with Graco, which is their "budget" option, but is manufactured elsewhere). If the material isn't that much of a needle-mover for you, then I'd go with the one that's more budget-friendly.
The dlx was incredible! So so easy to maneuver compared to the others. It was also extremely lightweight. My husband and I are 99% set on this one, just want to rule out all others first. It had a lot of roominess in the bottom carrier too and was definitely sturdy enough for difficult terrain, etc. It's of course a bit bigger than a travel size but honestly, not much as far as I can tell based on what you get with it.
the original models i think had an issue but I don't think the 2.0 single to double do. Not many choices here in the US for strollers with bassinets sadly that aren't $$$. There is a new Ginger DLX about to come out with all terrain wheels. We are in the same boat though! We are expecting in February. I bought the Joie Nutmeg and Mint Latch combo from target but we also want a full size also. Part of me is just like, just get the full size now and get a double later, plus I think if I want a double I want a side by side double. Joie is so so new to the USA and they keep pumping out new models buy the time we have our second theres probably going to be something better so I kinda think the Ginger is the best choice. The Chive kind looks a little too crammed? In videos it looks like the front seat has to remain pretty upright and theres no room to recline but on the mockingbird theres more room.
Looking at this from the other side of the tunnel with a 7 and 3-year-old, especially after dragging gear through international airports... here is the ultimate truth. In a year, you won't care about the brand badge or if the fabric is 'luxury'. You will only care about two things: Can I fold it with one hand while holding a squirming toddler? And can I easily wipe crushed crackers off the seat? Get the Joie. Save the $350 for the endless snack budget you are going to need very soon. Your back (and your wallet) will thank you.
I’m also in SD and I went with the JOIE ginger deluxe and Mint Latch. We can put her car seat into any car with latches and I’m easily able to put her car seat on the stroller portion. She just finally outgrew the bassinet portion and I can use it as a stroller.
I have the Joie Ginger DLXE travel system. I love how easy it is to get in and out of the car. It’s also at a good price point.
We have tried both and literally the only difference I found was the fabric, everything else felt the same. Go for Joie, its a reasonable option and is really good too.
I do wish the DXL was available when we purchased, just because the canopy is shorter than I’d like on the OG, but that’s such a small complaint. We ended up purchasing another base at 4 months just for ease of use because we got lazy haha, but it’s such an easy install that if you do need to switch, you’ll be fine. Just for sizing reference though, our girl is almost 5 months, 14.5lbs and 25.5 inches and fits perfectly in the rue still, and she always seems very comfortable and content. And the stroller is super easy to open and close when out and about imo
