I’m not sure where you’d be able to find the more luxury brands but I have the Joie Nutmeg stroller and I saw it at the two Supertargets here. The one at the Grove and the one off 280. I also have the Nuna Pipa Lite car seat (we got from our in laws) but would highly recommend. Can answer questions about Joie or the Nuna car seat.
r/Birmingham • Stores that carry baby gear? ->Our neighbor's kept raving about their Nuna, so I went and looked in person, and wasn't impressed for the price. Next, I went to Target and also didn't love anything, which is when I really got into researching. I decided I wanted a baseless car seat, which really helped narrow down our options. I liked the look of Nuna and discovered Joie is made by the same parent company, which is when I fell in love with the brand, but was reluctant to buy something I hadn't seen in person. I was luckily able to find their nutmeg stroller in target about a month later, which I liked the look/feel of, but was a little more compact than we wanted. From there, it was a decision between their hazel or ginger. We went with the hazel and mint travel system for the bigger wheels, which we thought would be better for the terrain where we walk our dog each day. I'd recommend deciding what features are most important to you and using it to narrow down your search from there. I was so overwhelmed until deciding to go with baseless.
r/BabyBumps • How did you figure out what car seat/stroller you wanted? ->Thats a great deal! I say keep it. I debated getting a high end system, but in the end opted for two mid range strollers (and I don’t regret it! I got the chicco corso le, keyfit 35, and a Joie nutmeg) All of that was still cheaper than a high end stroller not to mention all the extra gizmos sold separately.
r/Buyingforbaby • Purchased a Joie Ginger & Rue Travel System, having second thoughts ->I have the Joie Nutmeg- it’s from the same parent company as Nuna and it’s super similar but a fraction of the price!
r/Buyingforbaby • Nuna Trvl vs Doona ->Is it important to you that it's newborn compatible? Are you planning on using a carseat with it? Can it stay in the car when not in use? I personally love Joie and looking at the Nutmeg I think it's a really great option. It's the cheapest that for sure checks all the boxes. I would personally pick a lightweight stroller if I was you and had to do a lot of pushing up hills or taking in and out of the car.
r/Buyingforbaby • Overwhelmed with stroller options! ->My baby is 5 months old and we just only got a lighter stroller (Joie nutmeg). I love our vista. We walk every day - a couple miles each day and i used it for grocery shopping all summer (the basket is huge). My PP recovery was easy though compared to most and i didn’t find it hard or cumbersome to get it in and out of my midsize suv.
r/Buyingforbaby • Uppababy vista as your only stroller for infant? ->We have a vista v3 and it is easily my favorite and most used baby item in the four months he’s been here. We walked every day this summer for 2-3 miles. We took it to trails and the beach and and gravel and side walks. Everywhere. No issues with anything. The bassinet attachment was essential as he refused to nap anywhere but on walks. I might be a minority but i have 0 complaints about the fold and size. It fits inside the trunk of my midsize suv easily and getting it out and open doesn’t suck to me. It also held a decent amount of groceries in the bottom Basket and i haven’t shopped with a cart since i gave birth. My thoughts might be different if i had a C-section or a more difficult recovery but walking this summer saved my sanity. I was against getting it for the reasons many complain about but my husband insisted and I’m so glad he did. He’s with my mom now during the day since I’m back at work and she has it during the week for walks and also loves it. We bought a Joie nutmeg for times a smaller stroller is easier and weeknight walks. We also love that as a smaller choice.
r/Buyingforbaby • Is UppaBaby Vista3 really that bulky? ->Joie Nutmeg looks so cute and is the one we have been most considering, but my mom friends have been trying to convince me to get a stroller with a true bassinet function for nap walks in those early days….nutmeg has a pramette feature but not a true bassinet. Joolz aer+ has a lot of great reviews and can also be bought with a true bassinet attachment. However, it’s ofc more expensive. Not sure if it’s worth the extra price….
r/Buyingforbaby • Overwhelmed with stroller options! ->Do you think the nutmeg would be good enough to use everyday? They’re currently selling the nutmeg entire travel system for $321 at our local target…though I’ve read the joolz aer+ fits better in overhead bins, has bassinet function, more likely to fit in overhead bins, and better quality…but it’s hard to justify the price
r/Buyingforbaby • Overwhelmed with stroller options! ->Seconding Joie! I have a Nuna trvl lx that I use as my main stroller with my toddler and I adore it. It's lightweight and super easy to fit into our smaller vehicle. But if I were doing it again, I would 100% go with the Joie nutmeg travel system. It's super comparable to the Nuna and the quality is amazing. The baseless infant mint car seat it comes with is really nice too!
r/BabyBumps • Strollers and Car Seat on a Budget ->I started out with a Vista V2 but was only able to use it for local trips to the park because my elevator has been out for ages at the train. Otherwise I'd been wearing baby if I had to go anywhere. Finally I bought the Joie Nutmeg and mint travel system from Target. It's been amazing! Apparently the same manufacturer as the Nuna but it costs much less. Weighs less than 15 lbs, it has near flat recline with bassinet mode so it's good from birth to 50 lbs, a huge expandable canopy, mesh peekaboo window so I can see baby while pushing, one handed fold and it came with a car seat that appears to easily latch in "any" car and that also fits easily on the stroller, too. I haven't tried that yet but I'm planning to take baby on a plane later this year so we will be taking an Uber to the airport with the car seat, gate checking the car seat and folding the stroller to put in the overhead bin. The basket only holds ten lbs and it's probably not the most rugged stroller but overall I'm sooo glad I went for this one. I'm likely going to end up selling my Vista.
r/nycparents • Tell me your stroller stories, regrets + successes! What stroller did you start out with, and what stroller do you use now? Can you really use a travel stroller as your only stroller in NYC? ->Joie Nutmeg Travel System from Target. I was struggling with my Vista until this travel system changed my life. It comes with the stroller and the car seat and a storage bag. The car seat fits a baby up to 30 lbs or 30 inches and fits into "any" car without a base as well as fitting onto the stroller. The stroller itself weighs less than 15 lbs and collapses with one hand -- I can easily lift baby + stroller up stairs if necessary. The stroller can fit a child up to 45 lbs. The stroller seatback reclines nearly flat for naptimes on the go (or even in the house!) and the UPF 50 canopy can unzip extend super far. This is also considered a "budget" stroller system, so it retails for like $460 at Target. I wish I had gotten this travel system to start with. I will probably sell my Vista soon.
r/BabyBumps • Stroller recommendations ->I have the nuna mixx next and my daughter loves it. It’s so smooth and it puts her right to sleep. I also have a joie nutmeg (dupe for nuna trvl) for things that don’t require the big stroller. It’s definitely super flimsy in comparison but still like the option of having something smaller. If you can splurge on bugaboo though- I would!
r/Buyingforbaby • Are “luxury” strollers actually worth it? ->My baby is 3 months old. I have the nuna mixx next and I would not recommend for your situation although I love my stroller. We also have a joie nutmeg and I think that would be a great option for you. The way it closes def isn’t as seamless as the nuna trvl but it’s not the worst stroller I’ve closed either. It’s honestly a good stroller, gets over bumps, newborn compatible because it lays flat but I don’t like that baby isn’t facing you but that’s just my preference! The nutmeg is pretty easy to carry. I could def carry it in one arm and my baby in the other up a flight of stairs if I hang it over my shoulder like a purse lol
r/Buyingforbaby • Overwhelmed with stroller options! ->Nuna trvl or Joie nutmeg! Depending on your price point, obviously the Nuna ranks a bit higher in quality. Both allow you to click the car seat onto the stroller with no adapter needed, and without removing the stroller seat.
