Due with my second in September for an age gap of 18 months apart. My older baby is 28lbs at 13 months currently so I wanted something with a higher weight limit just in case. I ended up ordering a Joovy Caboose RS the other day since it was marked down $200 and I wanted something to grow with us and have heard lots of people rave about having a sit and stand option. You can buy a second seat as well which I’ll probably do at first while he’s still young. Each seat holds up to 55lbs and the standing platform accommodates kids up to 44” tall.
4 in total, with two children. I don't drive and we walk daily, in all weather. I had a Graco Comfy Cruiser as my daily driver. Less than $200 and it was an absolute workhorse. I used it for over 6 years, between the two kids. Huge basket was perfect for grocery shopping. We also had a Joovy Caboose, for the short period of time when my older child was not a reliable distance walker, and needed a place to rest. And then two running strollers - a Chariot Cougar 1 and Cougar 2 (single and double versions of the same stroller). My youngest is 4 and we are still using the Cougar 1 for runs together.
Joovy Caboose. You can purchase an actual seat for the older kid, but for a four year old, the little bench seat should be sufficient. My older child was just turning 3 when our second was born. He loved standing on the riding board and sometimes used the seat on longer outings.
In-line is so much easier.
Depends on how old your first is. I have a joovy sit and stand that’s good if your oldest will be 2.5-3+ when baby is born. Younger, I’d get a full double. Or, just be a cool mom and get a wagon. Wagons are the same size (usually) as a double stroller front to back but way more useable space. I have a larktale caravan for my two and it’s amazing. It even has a car seat adaptor for newborn days.
Having maneuvered both, trust me that the in-line strollers are worse. The number of ankles that would be clipped because it is so hard to gauge depth… Side by side is wide but much easier to control your footprint.
I took a Joovy Caboose when we went to DisneyWorld and it worked amazingly. It’s technically a double stroller with a spot to sit or stand plus the reclining seat in the front. It was perfect to hook a diaper bag to, is easy peasy to fold up, and overall is just a great stroller. I’m going to Disneyland in a few months and that’s one of my top things I’m hauling with us!
The side by side strollers are a pain to navigate around the crowds….I wholeheartedly suggest the joovy caboose! It was a dream in Disney World and I’ll be buying one secondhand solely for our Disneyland trip in the Spring.
Joovy Caboose stroller your kid can stand on the back .... when you have another kid put the baby in the front or if your kid falls asleep put them in the front. I loved my Joovy brought it grocery shopping I'd walk with my youngest she hated siting in the front but liked standing in the back. The Joovy had plenty of space to put groceries. We brought it on vacations I missed it once my kids got older because we'd stack it up to go to the pool or beach. The Joovy also has a seat at the back so when your kid is tired of standing they're facing you sitting. It was the perfect fit for us because my younger one was the kid who pushed the stroller the entire way to the grocery store😂.
Agree 100%. I donated by in-line stroller bc it was so hard to navigate. City mini was the best by far!
When my kids were almost those exact ages we took that joovy caboose. It worked well, but the toddler did have some trouble seeing over the front while we were walking. It’s nice though because for the Skyliner you don’t have to fold that one, you do on the double wides though. Now that they’re older and they get in and out independently we do the wide one because it’s way easier and they can both see
We've taken our joovy three times now. It's not difficult to steer. I assume you've used it before and know how it handles. In-line is much more considerate and easier getting around in crowded areas because you take up less width. I can't think of any time we were off of a paved area so the smaller wheels never mattered. In terms of comfort my kids have never complained, they both can nap in our joovy, so I can't really speak to that, if your kids really don't find it as comfortable that might be a consideration given there can be long days in the parks and you don't want to have to go home early because the kids are complaining about the stroller.
