I agree, we used the Joovy once at a park and never again. I was so glad I got it for free because it was not it for us.
Keep your eye on Marketplace for the Joovy Twinroo. We used ours CONSTANTLY with our twins. It’s just a car seat holder thing, so I would have never spent the $200+ they ask for to buy it new, BUT it was used almost exclusively and nearly daily for the first year.
So I highly, HIGLY recommend getting different strollers at different times if you're going used and not planning on spending 3k on a stroller. I had a Chicco stroller front and back that fit the car seats and it was 8000lbs. It was a nightmare to bring in public. I ended up picking up a joovy twin frame only for the car seats and that was great and much lighter. It still felt like a boat, but I think anything will if you want it compatible with two infant seats. After we got out of the infant seats, a friend gave us a city mini jogging stroller (LOVE THIS THING) side to side and I got a double umbrella stroller. Both of which fit excellently through doors and I alternate based on whether we are doing a lot of walking or not, because the city mini is still a beast folded up, whereas the umbrella stroller fits by their feet in the car. I also spent last summer using a fold up utility wagon and they just stood up like meerkats. The utility wagon was awesome for long outings at the park and I could put whatever else in there. I haven't tried it this year yet, they're 2 and might try to escape, but that's was $40 well spent. I really recommend getting different strollers (cheaply) that fit different situations than trying to get a one size fits all, because a one size fits all will likely just be cumbersome in all situations, unless you're spending thousands. My overall used stroller expenses (double Chicco, city mini, joovy twin roo, wagon, double umbrella stroller) ended up totalling $160 by getting everything used or clearance or gifted, and we found exactly what we like. Used is totally the way to go!
We had a bunch over the years \- started with the Joovy Twin Roo+ car seat stroller (wagon like). Hated it. Was clunky and hard to move \- UppaBaby Vista front/back. This was our mainstay for 3 years. Needed something narrow in NY and the basket was epic \- Chicco C6 umbrella style stroller x2 for traveling. Hated it. Basket was useless, I kept hitting it with my feet and it hurt my back \- contours bitsy travel stroller x2. Amazing. Very easy to use and did everything we needed. Ended up being stored in our car as we had a side by side at this point which we used in our neighbourhood and we used these when we needed strollers when about town \- Thule Urban Glide side by side. Kids were 3-4 when we got this. We moved cities and had more space. Basket was solid and interacting with both kids at the same time was great. Easier for walk to pre school and general things around the neighbourhood but we were trying to do walking more. They could annoy each other was the only big drawback but they gotta start learning somewhere The approach worked well for us.
Second joovy!! I used it all the time for my girls. Walks and running quick errands. Easy to get through doorways. I didn’t like the idea of the tandem ones for my twins at any age and knew Id want a side by side when they were out of their infant car seats so I found one on fbook marketplace for like $75. Very worth it! Also found the city mini side by side on fbook marketplace for $75 lol. Def utilize marketplace!!
We were not a fan of the "stacking" design with a lot of infant strollers so knew we wanted side by side. We went with a combo of the joovy twin with the chicco keyfit infant seats at first (was affordable and we stopped using it as soon as we could around 4-5 months). Then we bought a Zoe Twin V2 and have been very happy - twins are now 1 and do great with it. The plus for us is when we moved away from the Joovy we also got convertible car seats which gave us a second set for a while (they still fit in their infant seats but just barely).
