Based on 1 year's data from Mar 19, 2026 How it works
Joovy zoom x2. It's side by side, pretty inexpensive. Cons, no snack tray. We've worked around it. There is a netted pocket cup holder in each seat so we usually have a snack up there and it works. Also. Not suitable under 6/7 months. I did fine baby wearing until I felt it was safe to put the baby in. Pros. I can jog with it, I don't but I could. My husband has taken it on some dicey trails and it was totally fine. Peak maneuverability. Each seat and each shade cover is independently adjustable and nearly fully lays flat. My kids are tall and skinny (2.5+4 yo) and it's still pretty roomy for them. In any case, keep your single stroller. Sometimes my 4yo will ride his bike and I pull out the single stroller and walk the dogs around the neighborhood. My 2.5 year old is on his peak "me legs broken" and he'll sit down and refuse to move phase. Also, occasionally I take a solo child on an excursion.
We got a joovy zoom X2 which I'm pretty sure is Canadian brand. We also have the single one. My kids are 22 months apart. My first was super active and all wanted to be on his own and then we had a baby and and he wanted to be carried all the time. When my second was around 12-13 months my oldest would ride his bike and I could put the baby and the single stroller. It was very rare. Mostly we use the double stroller for things like the zoo or the walk through the city from the parking lot to the aquarium or something like that. I also use a double stroller for things neighborhood fairs or flea markets. I'm also a stay-at-home mom though so I spend a lot of time with just me and the kids and I need to get out of the house. I also put them in a double stroller sometimes for breakfast and walk the dog in the summer because I can get exercise and listen to music. This morning was the first time that my kids, four on Saturday and 2 years old both rode their bikes around the neighborhood while I walked the dog. I'm probably still going to hang out to both the strollers for another 2 years. If you don't see yourself going to something like the zoo or a neighborhood fair solo with two children more than once in a blue moon, then probably no, you don't need it. The double stroller we have I think was 600 bucks but it rides like a dream. I ended up buying the mockingbird and returning it within a week
Joovy Zoomx2. By far the most comfortable and has tons of undercarriage storage. We take it every trip and can have all the things, we have a backpack cooler plus coats and ears, bubble wands, blankets, you name it. I can literally push it with one finger and it turns great, fold up is pretty decent too. We’ve even packed all three kids on it (6 and under) when walking back to the RV park with my oldest sitting above the front wheel when he was needing the break or a place to sit for a minute. 10/10, I’ve owned a couple different double strollers and a wagon and it’s by far the best one I’ve ever had.
For those bumps and uneven sidewalks I highly suggest a jogging stroller! Most jogging strollers are big most definitely but I saw a Guava Roam jogging stroller the other day when I was running errands and I was highly impressed especially with the folding and how small it was when folded. Definitely would consider that if you have the budget for it, otherwise definitely look on marketplace for jogging strollers. We have twins so we had a Joovy Zoom x2, I picked that over the Bob because it was a bit more narrower than the Bob.
Yes. Twins (4) and singleton (2.5) are twenty month’s apart, we only have one compact stroller now which we always have in the car as back up for my youngest but every now and then my twins will hop in it because they’re tired. We also have a Wonderfold wagon which we use for outings like the zoo or aquarium. Depends on what type of strolling you will use the stroller for. If it’s everyday city, uneven terrain, walk to the parks use I suggest a side by side jogging stroller. The suspension and the rubber tires on jogging strollers make pushing so much easier and smoother. The downside is some doorways may or may not fit side by side strollers. My favorite is the Joovy Zoomx2 and the Thule Jogging stroller. If you’re looking for something more indoor mall strolling on even flat/smooth ground then a full size tandem stroller would be best like a Mockingbird or similar. Because of the set up of a tandem stroller, it will fit through most doorways. Although my youngest is 2.5, I’ve been thinking of getting a used jogging stroller again just because it’s so much smoother than our old Uppababy Minu. But husband says since we already have our wagon it’s not worth it anymore to get another stroller or similar lol
I own a Wonderfold wagon (3 kids, 4yotwins/2.5) and it gets heavy to steer and also load in a vehicle. Without kids it’s about 50+lbs, with all three it’s about 100+ lbs to push lol. If my youngest wasn’t 2.5, I’d definitely go back to a jogging stroller (I probably will still get a used one lol). We had a Joovy Zoomx2 and borrowed a Bob double but I preferred the Joovy since it was lighter. My neighborhood has a few uneven spots so the wagon does feel like the extra large Target shopping cart lol, the jogging strollers made going over uneven ground sooo much easier.
Definitely consider whether or not you’re planning on having another kid and see if a modular stroller would work better for your needs where you can have a second seat attachment. If not then consider your lifestyle as to whether you guys travel a lot, jogging trails etc and then go from there. I had twins and so we had the double seats and extra attachments, but currently the single rider [Joovy Qool](https://a.co/d/6j690wu) is under $500. You can find the car seat attachments as well for the stroller. We loved this stroller and cycled through with 3 kids, we could make it into a triple stroller with a toddler bench seat attachment. We also had a Joovy jogging stroller which we loved but had to get rid of because we had 3 under 3 so we got a wagon lol. I’m personally biased with Joovy because you can take off a majority of their seats/covers on their strollers and easily wash them and/or buy a replacements for them and even get replacement parts on their website. If we didn’t have twins I would’ve stuck with Chicco branded product. Honestly with you being in LA, I’d say look on marketplace first for some strollers second hand and that way you can get a feel of different strollers, you don’t have to commit to buying them as well. A lot of people are suggesting all these “name brand” high end strollers which I get if you have the money and just one kid to invest in, but again I had twins and we went for practically and longevity. Some of these higher end strollers didn’t really work well for two kids.
Do you have a buy nothing group in your area? I got a well loved Bravo 2 or whatever ( Chicco seat clips in and my toddler can sit or stand on the back). We have used it a ton and air traveled with it. It has quirks but it was free and every day I thank god for that. I also got a used Joovy x2 for $80 on marketplace. You never know what these picky toddlers will be into but try to not stress and spend hundreds.
We’ve had a Joovy Zoom for almost 5 years & it’s still going strong. Wide base, great handling, fat tires, good storage for adults. Both my kids are 90+ percentilers & our youngest (36” tall) still rides comfortably.
I’m sure that like, 1/4th of my Reddit comments are me raving about how much i love our Joovy Zoom. My ~4’, 45lb 4 yo still loves riding in ours. It doesn’t have a snack tray, so if that’s a dealbreaker for OP I get it, but it’s been a perfect stroller for me for 4 years already (& he’s still got 30 lbs to go before hitting the weight limit!)
This is the travel system I had for my first! It’s still worth it to have a jogging stroller even though yes it is annoying to have multiple strollers. Mine was Joovy brand and I got it from a friend of a friend. Used it to train for a half marathon!
Same. Joovy. Best purchase in the 2u2 race. The only one I would make over and over again. Mine are 2 and 3 now and still fit comfortably for long outings. Plus the storage feels endless.
I will forever sing the praises of the Uppababy vista with the double car seat option for infants. Big basket underneath for groceries and easy snap on/off for infant car seats. When the twins were about 1.5, I got a Joovy double (lightweight, easy open/close) for neighborhood walks/mall.
Omg yes. I’m way past that stage now but it’s been a problem since forever and my oldest is 11. I gave my shit away. The double Joovy stroller is the only thing I kept at 100$ because I paid out the ass for it. They still got a deal lol. I see it in the local moms group all the time, way over priced crap.
Started with new uppababy vista, bought a used joovy double stroller, bought a new wonderfold W4, bought an umbrella stroller, bought a bugaboo donkey duo, sold the joovy, sold uppababy vista, bought a new uppababy minu and car seat adapter for the W4. planning on selling bugaboo donkey. Will likely end up buying a jogging stroller + bike trailer to replace our non-stroller convertible bike trailer. I have 3 kids, 3.5, 2, and 3.5mo. Different strollers have been useful for different seasons of parenting.
