r/BabyBumpsHow many strollers did you end up with? Is it possible to get by with just one?

Depending on your lifestyle you can absolutely get by with just one, or even none. I do not have that kind of lifestyle😂. I had two for my first, a standard Graco stroller and an umbrella stroller. I would have been fine with just one, but the umbrella stroller was $5 and pink, turns out it's one of my favorite strollers still(Maclaren Volo). I have *so many* strollers now. I live in a crazy city, have two small kids, and one of them has Down Syndrome and is a runner, so strollers get used a lot in our daily lives. I actually have even more than 'my' strollers, because I pick up strollers people have thrown out and fix them up to donate(fix them up is a generous description, almost all they ever need is a wash). Also my husband's truck doesn't fit in our garage, so we have a lot of space for it all. I'm just going to list the ones we actually use.. A double and a single Bob, the single is from '09 and about to go, and we won't be replacing it. My husband runs with them, I use them for anything seriously off-road(stroller friendly hikes, farms, etc) City Select Lux double for my everyday stroller. It lives in my van and is an absolute workhorse. The Maclaren from my first, and a newer, nicer Maclaren. I wish they still made strollers because the newer one is so handy for travel, it's light, but super sturdy and the basket holds a lot. Also it's a single but it has a 75# limit, so on a recent trip we had both kids sitting in it when we needed. GB pockit for small places, like Drs offices or small shops. 2 City Minis for when we're going somewhere as a family but will be splitting up, like a mall. Honestly we could do without these two and just use the ones above, but one's my husband's favorite color and one's my favorite color, so they stay and get used a lot😂.

Same here, I switched to a used Maclaren Volo stroller then just a scooter, he got so good at it he wore it out. We also had a bike and trailer but I wish I had invested in a trail a bike instead of a trailer, I would have gotten my money's worth. There is a dad in my area who has the little ones in the trailer and a trail a bike for the older one.

Used to live in a 5th floor walkup with a newborn til early school years. Learned to live a minimalist lifestyle and have no regrets. Things that helped: •Ring Sling •Lightweight umbrella stroller (we had a Maclaren back then but I’m sure there are better ones on the market now) •Great walking shoes •Mifold portable car seat •A good weather app with the hourly forecast because you don’t want to have to go all the way back upstairs for appropriate weather gear. Lost count of all those times I looked out the window to see a beautiful blue sky only to step out into a thunderstorm by the time we got to street level. Bright side: having walked all those flights up and down, we encountered our neighbors on every floor in the stairwell which was a plus for practicing daily socialization skills. Our kiddo became quite outgoing and chatty because of this! And for the years ahead, foldable scooter, yes. Bike with training wheels, no.

I lived in Europe, not Italy but Madrid. And omg a doona will beyond not work in Europe. The sideways/curbs/roads are very uneven, those small wheels will never work. You also don’t want a super wide stroller either. Narrowed doorways small elevators metro turnstiles busy sidewalks the list goes on. We had a McLaren there and it was great. Depending on how often youre taking buses you may need to factor in frequently collapsing youre stroller if you want a seat. Also theives target strollers so nothing Valuable on the stroller.

Started with uppa baby Cruz. Bought a surfboard for it once we had two kids. Bought a Maclaren for local travel outside of city. Ended up acquiring a yoyo once oldest was good to walk. Once my youngest entered second half of pre-k we were done. Uppa was our durable beast that got us through the city like an suv. Carried a lot. Comfortable. Great shade coverage. Versatile, great to grow with. We also had the carrier and carseat prior. Took a lot of punishment. Best for streets that weren’t smooth or cobblestone. Good for two kids. Became or grocery hauler a couple years which I’d get positive comments from people all the time for doing. Bulky, hard to park at a museum or go down subway / stairs. MacLaren foldable was the pop and go. Great steering, ok for shade. but kinda sucked on some city streets. Yo-yo bonpoint was the EV sports car. All around good efficient, turns on a dime. But not great if you like hauling a lot things. Decently comfortable. Really easy to drive. Can get caught on street sometimes but not a lot. So compact for parking or folding up at restaurant or museum. I’d say I’m not sure how’d we’d get through with out having the uppa baby in the first years with two kids. But if you’re good about traveling light go Yo/Yo for the ease. Ah love hate relationship with strollers

5, technically, but 2 live at the grandparents’ houses. Of the other 3, we use 2 regularly - a Bob jogging stroller and an Uppababy vista. The third was a freebie from Facebook - a maclaren umbrella stroller. While the umbrella stroller is definitely smaller and lighter, I find it more awkward to unfold than the Uppababy, so that’s what lives in the bigger vehicle and what I use on occasion at the grocery store if I only need a few things. The only one we (or the rest of our family) spent any money on was the Uppababy. The rest we were v fortunate to get locally free.

We got a Doona (with isofix) for the first couple of months, still very happy about that decision! We also got a second hand stroller with convertible bassinet (2 in 1). Besides those first purchases for the first couple of months, we got 1-2-3 car seats with isofix for both kids for when they grew out of the Doona (I can't remember the brand). We had our baby registry at Dreambaby and with the extra coupon you got (a percentage of what was sold from the list), we bought the car seat. When they got too big for the second hand stroller, we bought a Maclaren stroller (easy to fold and didn't take up too much room in the car). We always tried to take into account safety, combined with not using up too much room or storage, because babies come with a lot of stuff!

Agree - options are key. We have three and they all get used really frequently. All except one we got used or free. The Cybex Gazelle (one up one down) as our narrow / light everyday stroller, a double jogging stroller for longer walks w the dogs, and a Maclaren umbrella stroller for travel / airport trips. They all have been so useful in various ways!

Yeah, it’s great from newborn till 3 I’d guess… it takes too much room… we also owned a McLaren umbrella stroller that was also great… but to begin with I’d go with the Uppa Baby that also has the bed… it was amazing for us
