Oh I have the skip2! Honestly that sounds ideal with the bassinet attachment, the travel prams are so much lighter than the big ones it's amazing. You can go to a Redsbaby demo day if you're in a major city and try it out. I used the bassinet in my full size pram all the time, as a portable cot when visiting people/out and about, and to get baby to sleep in my own house when he was being fussy - wheeled him back and forth over the rug til he fell asleep and then moved him into his room for his nap. I think they are 200% worth it.
I have the skip and my 5m old loves it but I wouldn't put a 4m old or younger in it due to being world facing. Highly rate it otherwise, and recommend getting the sunshade accessory. You could use a baby carrier instead of a pram while bub is young though.
We bought the Reds Baby Skip 2 in 2024 for our at the time 6 month old. I’m not exaggerating when I say that pram changed my life. It’s lightweight, easy to use, easy to clean. Love it!
You haven’t mentioned it but I love my Redsbaby Skip2. The newest model, Skip3 has the ability to add a bassinet for newborns.
We got the Skip2 but have been gate checking it anyway, just easier than dealing with it on the plane and trying to find room in the overhead these days!
The Redsbaby Skip2 is not a one hand fold either. It has a very small basket but I fit a surprising amount of small things (water bottles, lunchboxes, light jackets) in it when travelling. It is lightweight and very compact when packed. I use it for travel (fits in the overhead on a plane and has a travel bag) and in my small second car, with our full size pram being in the main car.
Have you tried out these prams in person? We have a redsbaby skip2 and absolutely love it as a travel pram. But I wouldn’t cope with using it as our main pram for a new born/infant. It doesn’t do well on uneven surfaces, no parent facing, and I don’t feel like baby would be as comfortable in for longer day trips. I know the Skip3 is different, but some of her travel prams don’t have adjustable handles. So if you or your partner are tall, then this can be an issue also. We have a bugaboo fox as our main pram. Yes it is huge and heavy, but Bub absolutely loved it. It’s perfect for longer trips out and is super easy to steer when travelling on non-paved/uneven ground. I would suggest fining something in-between a travel pram and the more common bigger/bulkier prams. It may be hard but doable.
Highly recommend redsbaby skip - we have the #2, but the new #3 looks amazing!! We first travelled with it when Bub was 5 months. It may be different now, but when we were first looking for a travel pram, many of them didn’t cater to babies under 6 months. So please check that when you make your decision!! Ps- we also used our pram for nappy changes when out and about.
