We just purchased the silver cross double jet from the Nordstrom sale— it’s the lightest double stroller at 19lbs. Really hoping we like it! It does have a few downfalls but when comparing to the Uppababy Minu Duo, I think this will fit our needs better.
We have a three-year-old and our twins are 8 months. We almost always use our Uppababy Vista. Most of the time the twins are just attached in their Uppababy car seats. They love the seats when we use those. We also have a Silver Cross Double Jet and it’s wonderful for flying and just a great lightweight double stroller. We also recently bought a Veer XL so that all 3 kids fit comfortably.
We initially had the Uppababy Vista with the Aria seats. It was great while it lasted but then it became a headache to lug around and the seats have a limited range of movement. We ended up buying a Silver Cross Jet Double. We love it. It’s so light and easy to pop open when you’re juggling twins. We also have a Veer wagon XL for walks and outings and Thule Chariot Cross for bike rides, jogging, and longer walks. We got rid of a double Bob because it was just way too big.
We have the trvl for keeping in the car and popping out with the baby and the vista for neighborhood walks. I love them both for their different functions! I will say, when I was a nanny and one of the families I was with for a long time had me keep their silver cross travel stroller with me for the baby. It was fine for walking outside but we had to replace the wheels way more frequently than their big stroller because they aren’t meant for too much outdoor walking.
Never been happy with Silvercross. We’ve had the Silvercross full bundle - car seat was rubbish and the pram was heavy and impractical. Rucksack and hand warmers were a nice touch. I would avoid any Silvercross products based on my experience. We’ve had the Bugaboo double (side by side, called donkey I think?!) - it’s good but a bit unwieldy, Doona one that converts to a car seat (useful but heavy and uncomfortable for child), Babyzen yo-yo (useful for travel but limited) and the Joolz aer which is great for travel (can get on a plane) and more versatile than the Babyzen so it can be used more like a normal pram - it’s been my favourite travel pram. On a side note, the Cybex car seats that rotate are amazing.
The better it is on uneven terrain/inclines the less foldable and heavier it’s going to be. You’ll have to decide if you want to split the difference and get something in the middle or get two. We ended up getting two. We have a silver cross one that barely folds down and is relatively heavy but it’s incredibly sturdy, has great suspension, a massive basket and has been taken on many a countryside walk across mud, gravel, rocks etc. We then also have a yoyo for travel that folds down small enough to go in the overhead compartment in a plane.
We got a silver cross, it was great. When choosing a pram/buggy I would say visit a shop and try them out. Lots of things to consider It depends on on your needs/ lifestyle, will you be having to regular walks to the park or shops, if so one with a larger bottom basket is a lifesaver, but if you will be travelling a lot by car, does the folded pram fit in your boot. Are there steps up to your house/apartment or a place you frequently go to, if so the weight of the pram will be important. Does the pram easy to collapse with one hand (while holding the baby) and is it robust/sturdy enough if you regularly walk on an uneven surface. Do you prefer the feel of a pushing with a bar or handles, and are the handles /bar comfortable and at a good height (you will be using it a lot), will the colour of the pram stain easily and what extras are provided(eg parasol or double cup holders (if two people are going for a walk and coffee or water is your thing)
