Based on 1 year's data from Feb 24, 2026 How it works
We are a car seat and a completely separate pram. I have issues with lifting and we only have one car so the car seat was never going to move and a bulky pram system was out. Ended up with a rotating nuna 360 in the car with isofix and a silver cross reflex as our pushchair.
Honestly, I would stop looking at pushchairs and instead look at how it will be used. Suddenly you will find your options are a lot smaller and you can then find the right one for your needs. Do you have a car? How will it fit in the boot? Eg umbrella Vs central fold Where will it be stored? How much space do you have? Eg storage of bulky travel systems and parts your not currently using Vs a single system that lies flat from birth upwards How long will you be using this system? Are you looking at possibly getting a light pushchair for occasional use at 2 years or do you want something that goes closer to 4 years and 24kg? What is the likelihood of needing a double pram in the future? If so, look for systems that convert between one and two How often will you be using public transport? Aka getting it onto a tube, bus, train, tram? How often would you be "off-road"? Light, long base 3 wheeler with air tires would do better Who else is using this other than you and do they have any needs? How often will they use this? Eg boot space, weight, need for higher handles, need for easy system if rarely using, arthritis and other such health issues How often can you/do you want to maintain the equipment? Ease of washing/cleaning, availability of accessories such as a removable liner, maintenance of breaks, wheels and mechanisms Do you need it to interface with something like a car seat or is that entirely a no or something in-between? Do you want front/rear facing, is it a consideration or is it not important? We had a single saloon car, with a range of height users. Chair to be stored in boot, in hall with coats or out being used as an ad-hoc sleeping space. Grandparents able and active. Wanted to buy one unit that packed smallish but didn't need to travel anywhere so no airplane concerns. The car seat would never leave the car due to lifting issues with one parent so baby would be transferred both ways so no compatibility issues. No concerns about a double pram. Wanted accessories such as a liner to help with keeping maintenance minimal but not worried about aftermarket Vs official so basic rather than unique shaped seat. Didn't need rear/front facing. Was going to go birth to old. Was going to have to be robust to go through everything an active family goes through but light enough for someone with nerve damage to manoeuvre. Likely a number of locations, urban and country, definitely needs to be able to do a country path on occasion but not off roading (would sling/rucksack carrier for 10 mile, cross country romps across tilled fields). Day out in London followed by a family trip to the Lake District followed by a weekend camping sort of thing. Ended up looking at 0-24kg umbrella fold basic pushchairs and had about 5 to choose from at the time that were all 0-24kg with reasonable sturdiness and solid wheels. Got a silver cross reflex in the end. Did 4 years of hard work with our first (including coping with the unexpected oxygen cylinders and feed pumps) and just hosed it down and washed the fabric ready for baby number 2. £350 ISH quid new Inc footmuff and rain cover. Spent £30 at year 4 for a replacement aftermarket rain cover.
The better it is on uneven terrain/inclines the less foldable and heavier it’s going to be. You’ll have to decide if you want to split the difference and get something in the middle or get two. We ended up getting two. We have a silver cross one that barely folds down and is relatively heavy but it’s incredibly sturdy, has great suspension, a massive basket and has been taken on many a countryside walk across mud, gravel, rocks etc. We then also have a yoyo for travel that folds down small enough to go in the overhead compartment in a plane.
I’ve literally never seen them there and I spent many hours there trying to convince myself I needed and could afford a Bugaboo. (Surprise to no one, I didn’t and I couldn’t! Lol) Nuna, Uppababy, Silver Cross, Thule, Doona, Joolz, Cybex, sure. Chicco? Never. Maybe this is a new development? 🤷🏻♀️

We got a lot of stuff from buy nothing groups on Facebook and hand me downs. We splashed out on a Silver Cross Stroller and an Owlet monitor. We got a changing table and rocking chair from Ikea, and then went midrange on Philips Avent for bottles and steriliser / warmer. We got a BabyBjorn carrier and bouncer, a Lovevery play mat, Halo Bassinest, Boppy cushions all as hand me downs and Facebook buy nothing. We bought a second hand Nuna car seat from a very trusted friend in an almost new condition. I got my pump through our insurance.
just spent a month researching. my takeaway: Nuna - loved this one the most (mixx or trvl xl) but all of the carseats/accesories make it extra pricey. my fav uber premium option uppababy- i found these all to be kind of rigid and too large. didn't like the vibe but its obvs popular mockingbird - decided on this one and so far love the balance of quality and price point. truly feels strong but also premium, while not being huge, and almost all the features feel obvious instead of buried silver cross - if you really want to go with the most premium it is indeed very nice. graco Modes nest - solid budget option. felt a little on the light/fragile side for me but if lightweight with versatility is important, this one isn't bad at all bugaboo - maybe the one i tried was a janky floor model but i didn't think it was smooth at all. nuna/mock crushed it
Its not very commonly seen due to its price point, and theres a very big popularity in other high end brands like Uppababy, Nuna, and Bugaboo. Honestly Silvercross is reaaallllyyy nice. They are essentially the Lamborghini of strollers. Very good quality built, a deep history company wise, etc. I wish I had bought one back when I had my boy, but we settled on a Nuna. The price point of the Silvercross made me think twice about it. I still like the Nuna but sometimes I still think about the Silvercross I didnt buy lol Personally I like the Reef a little more than the Wave but both are great strollers.
We bought the bugaboo donkey. It moves like a dream the basket underneath is huge(perfect for grocery shopping) and it was so easy to use when babies were tiny. From the basinette to the car seat attachment. So many nice features on it. You can use it as single stroller, seats recline/reverse, handlebar can go all the way down. We were able to roll babies right up to tables when we went out for coffee and didnt feel like it was in the way. Only downside is car seat attachment does NOT fit through standard door. We had to take one car seat off the stroller to get through some doorways. I also felt like it was pretty heavy and struggled folding it down. This was probably harder for me since my husband was always doing it for me. BUT if you ask my husband he has ZERO complaints. We also got the silver cross stroller for road trips. Packing for twins takes up a LOT of space so finding a stroller that takes up barely any room was essential. Its not as smooth as the bugaboo or have as many nice features but it served its purpose for us.
I went with the Silver Cross stroller and Clek car seat. I’m not delivering my baby until Monday, so mostly I have just used the stroller for training my dog to walk next to it. But I will say that thing is STURDY and beautiful. The car seat is installed and also seems extremely safe. I’m happy with both so far and love the non toxic materials. The stroller might be a little bulky for errands going in and out of the car a lot, so I may opt to baby wear.
Before you decide on the Uppababy…really play with it in person. I felt it was efficient on how it collapse/opens and was still very bulky. I remember there being pinch points when collapsing as well. I was researched and played with Uppababy, Nuna Triv/Swiv/Mixx, and Silver Cross strollers. Ultimately ended up with the Nuna Swiv with no regrets.
We opted for silver cross and I love it! Felt way sturdier than the uppababy and others we trialed. We’re on walks daily (in AB) and zero complaints.
