I have a Thule that I bought second hand. We have a silver cross as our main stroller - actually we have two. A SC Wave (the original) and a SC Breez which I just bought. Each stroller has its pros and cons. Breez is nice and compact, Thule is better for non-pavement experiences, and Wave is great in every aspect except for space and weight. We used the bassinet feature exclusively when he was a newborn.
I just pre ordered the breez! I was SO overwhelmed with stroller research and I didn’t know what we needed. I ended up getting the silver cross wave second hand on marketplace. I love the wave - it’s a beautiful stroller and we used the bassinet feature almost exclusively until he grew out of it. I started looking into more compact strollers because the wave is so big, and the fold is just not practical. The bassinet and the seat don’t fold so storage for the wave is a nightmare. The breez looks PERFECT - a gorgeous stroller, bassinet compatible for the next baby, and compact. Oh also - I got a Thule second hand for more rugged adventures. But I’m so excited for this stroller! I’m
I have a Silvercross Wave. Pros: similar price range to Uppababy vista but you get everything (2 seats, 1 bassinet) so it works out cheaper, double pram, bassinet can go up top, seats are full size so toddlers won't grow out of them so fast, massive basket, it's sturdy and I never feel like it's going to tip over, so many seat configurations, seats can recline if you're blessed with a baby that sleeps in the pram, there is a skateboard attachment you can buy, brake is solid Cons: it's heavy but I was ok with that because of how sturdy it is, two handed fold down but I do find it easy enough, you don't have to but I take the seat off to fold down so it's not so heavy lifting into the car, sun shades aren't long enough and we do lots of walking in the Qld sun so I feel like the sun is always getting in, after sales service is almost non existent. Overall I love it and would recommend it, but I am looking at a side by side double for walks only. I love the Bugaboo sun shades and I like the idea of babies side by side but I don't want a big side by side pram when I'm out shopping.
Silver cross wave for a growing family! We love ours so much and it’s beautiful!!!!!
We did something similar. I have a silver cross wave as our every day buggy for cobblestone streets or going out into the country and then have a Babyzen yoyo for travel
I’d absolutely get a compact stroller for travel as well. We got a similar stroller to you (the silver cross wave) as it’s sturdy and good for all terrain but it barely folds down. We can take it on vacations where we drive but no way we’d do it by plane. We got a Babyzen yoyo secondhand at half price to use when travelling and it’s been brilliant being able to take it onboard the plane with us.
The better it is on uneven terrain/inclines the less foldable and heavier it’s going to be. You’ll have to decide if you want to split the difference and get something in the middle or get two. We ended up getting two. We have a silver cross one that barely folds down and is relatively heavy but it’s incredibly sturdy, has great suspension, a massive basket and has been taken on many a countryside walk across mud, gravel, rocks etc. We then also have a yoyo for travel that folds down small enough to go in the overhead compartment in a plane.
Bugaboo Donkey hands down. We had the Silver Cross Wave system, which is one behind the other. It was fine while they were newborn in the car seats, but they wanted to see each other after the first few months and even the "universal" Silver Cross ride-on board for our oldest doesn't work with the Wave. Most tandems (in front and behind) are much wider than you think, and not actually that different than some of the side by sides. The Wave was so easy to drive, but was simply so long it caused issues plus the twins wanted to interact, so we switched to a used Bugaboo Donkey. Was 100% the right move. The Donkey is also collapsible so it can be used as a single pram if someone does occasionally only take one twin out, though not sure how often that realistically will happen as I can't think of a single time that happened for us. Both prams took up about the same amount of boot space. Even if you decide to not get the Donkey, get a side by side, not a tandem. Having driven a few of both, they're not that much narrower.
Lovvvve our silver cross wave.
