Uppababy vista for daily use 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Stokke yoyo 3 with their yoyo board ⭐️⭐️⭐️
My boy outgrew the Yo-yo at 3/3.5m and we also bought a full recline stroller. Saved our asses lol
I started with a Stokke Yoyo then got a Cruz and it was the best decision I've made post baby lol. It handles well on footpaths and in shopping centres, decently on grass, I love the big basket (it fits SO much), I like the versatility of having the seat recline or sit up and parent/outward facing options, and it's sturdy but not so big I feel awkward taking it on public transport.
I started out with the Stokke Yoyo3 as my only pram (with the newborn pack) bc we live in a first floor with no lift apartment with not much space and I get public transport a lot. So it did make sense for us on paper but I ended up getting a secondhand Uppababy Cruz about 4 months in. The Yoyo is great and is awesome for getting around on public transport but I kind of wish I'd had the Cruz from the jump. I have to be so much more judicious with what I bring with the Yoyo bc there is very little storage (which makes sense obviously, it's a travel pram!) and if I'm taking a full size nappy bag I have to carry it, whereas with the Cruz I can throw everything in the basket and take bigger items like a picnic blanket. I just didn't factor in how much stuff I needed to lug around and honestly a big part of the reason I got another pram was just so I could put a pack of nappies in the basket which you can't really do with the Yoyo. I also like being able to talk and engage with my baby on walks when she's facing me, which isn't possible with the Yoyo for 6m+ as it only faces out. And the newborn pack was great at first bc she could lie flat and nap, but from about 4m she wanted to look out and look around so I'd constantly have to take her out. Plus it's just not the best for surfaces like grass, pebbles etc. All that said I genuinely do think the Yoyo is great lol, but it has worked much better as a second pram for me. I will say I rarely ever fold down the Cruz, the Yoyo now lives in our boot. If I were having to constantly fold it down into a car boot I might feel differently!
I actually was the opposite, I started off with a travel pram with a bassinet (Yoyo3) and ended up getting the Cruz when my baby was 5mo. I still use the Yoyo but the Cruz is my main one now bc the basket space is so much better and I hate having to carry things.
Haven't used the Vista but the Cruz is definitely very sturdy and pretty smooth.
Having just purchased a travel stroller, we looked at the stokke yoyo, bugaboo butterfly, uppababy minu v3, silvercross jet 5, and joolz aer -- all comply with most overhead cabin sizing. I would recommend also purchasing the stroller case/carrier so it looks more like a standard carry-on. Some airline staff might make you gate-check regardless of size once they see that it is a stroller. Having the cover/case will reduce that issue.
I have the uppababy vista v2 and absolutely love it. Take the bubs and the dog out everyday for a walk and it’s so convenient to manoeuvre plus it’s great for quick grocery runs. Yes it’s a bit hard to take out/put in the car but I have hatch back so it’s a small car. Borrowed a friends uppababy Cruz and it wasn’t as easy to move around. I also got the stokke yoyo3 for travelling which is handy but bubs just looks more comfier in the bigger pram.
We are also doing it again 7 years later! We just picked up adapters and a clek liing infant seat for a Yoyo, and are rolling without a travel system.
Looks like your boot is deeper rather than long - you’ll need to remove the parcel shelf and stand a pram frame upright if it’s around that size. Alternatively, some compact/travel prams come with bassinet add ons to make them newborn compatible including the stokke yo-yo (previous babyzen yo-yo) and the baby jogger city tour 2.
I started my stroller journey by buying a highly recommended stroller and hating it... and ended up with multiple ones, which turned into testing over 100 models and reviewing them :) That said: NOT LOVING: Uppababy Vista - rides smooth, but too big and bulky Mockingbird - awful, scary with recalls, doesn't drive smoothly as all Cybex Orfeo - too flimsy Cybex Coya - where do I even begin with this bad fold GB Pockit - not worth your fingers Ergobaby Metro - too heavy for a travel stroller and unfold feels meh SummerInfant 3d quickclose - too good to be true, super flimsy Nuna TRVL - too short seat, too big to take into the cabin and too expensive for what it is Uppababy Minu - too big for a travel stroller model, weird bumper bar and flimsy canopy LOVING: Cybex Priam - amazing, especially the e-version. If I were to get a one full-size stroller this would be my top choice Stokke Yoyo3 - most well-known and guaranteed on board Joolz Aer - smooth ride, great accessories Joolz Hub2 - solid mid-size option Cybex Gazelle - good for 2 under 2 Bombi - good mid-size option Bugaboo Butterfly 2 - didn't like the first version, but these upgrades made it better Mamazing - good budget option Zoe Traveler - amazing canopy and solid stroller Inglesina Quid - cute solid compact stroller
Wrong sub…. But get the yo-yo lol. Abroad airlines know the yo-yo because it’s most popular stroller in Europe basically and will let it on plane for overhead bin. Other strollers overseas YMMV
Fellow Montréaler. Do you mainly drive or mainly bus-metro-walk? If you walk a lot then it's worth it to get the Uppababy. If you're mostly in and out of your car then a small and light stroller will be much more convenient. The Stokke Yoyo is small but sturdy. It actually offers little skis you can attach in place of the front wheels. Another very solid small stroller is the Ergobaby Metro+. It's super popular in Quebec. I think rightly so. If you want a dedicated winter walking stroller you can look at a running stroller. Their huge wheels make them good in snow. I have a Cruzer bike trailer that acts as a running stroller and has skis as well. A but unorthodox though. General advice is don't try to have one stroller to do everything. It's worth it to have a small stroller for the car. And then a larger stroller for long walks/days out in the city. Also, on rough terrain and in snow, always lock the steering on the front wheels. With any stroller. I see so many people unaware of this feature fighting to push their strollers through snow and slush.
