You might want to check out the Stokke YOYO connect double stroller. Seem like the best for travel on airplane/subway/bus/car. I have the Mockingbird single to double for my 2 year old and newborn. It's huge and I would not bring it on a plane or in a taxi. I would only bring it on the subway if it had an elevator and it wasn't rush hour, which really limits you. I would say carrying one baby with one in a travel stroller is easier. The YOYO connect double looks like the second easier option. A side by side double if honestly the hardest in NYC because you JUST fit through the door and then have to navigate narrow walkways inside stores and restaurants which is a pain.
Uppababy vista for daily use 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Stokke yoyo 3 with their yoyo board ⭐️⭐️⭐️
My boy outgrew the Yo-yo at 3/3.5m and we also bought a full recline stroller. Saved our asses lol
I started with a Stokke Yoyo then got a Cruz and it was the best decision I've made post baby lol. It handles well on footpaths and in shopping centres, decently on grass, I love the big basket (it fits SO much), I like the versatility of having the seat recline or sit up and parent/outward facing options, and it's sturdy but not so big I feel awkward taking it on public transport.
I started out with the Stokke Yoyo3 as my only pram (with the newborn pack) bc we live in a first floor with no lift apartment with not much space and I get public transport a lot. So it did make sense for us on paper but I ended up getting a secondhand Uppababy Cruz about 4 months in. The Yoyo is great and is awesome for getting around on public transport but I kind of wish I'd had the Cruz from the jump. I have to be so much more judicious with what I bring with the Yoyo bc there is very little storage (which makes sense obviously, it's a travel pram!) and if I'm taking a full size nappy bag I have to carry it, whereas with the Cruz I can throw everything in the basket and take bigger items like a picnic blanket. I just didn't factor in how much stuff I needed to lug around and honestly a big part of the reason I got another pram was just so I could put a pack of nappies in the basket which you can't really do with the Yoyo. I also like being able to talk and engage with my baby on walks when she's facing me, which isn't possible with the Yoyo for 6m+ as it only faces out. And the newborn pack was great at first bc she could lie flat and nap, but from about 4m she wanted to look out and look around so I'd constantly have to take her out. Plus it's just not the best for surfaces like grass, pebbles etc. All that said I genuinely do think the Yoyo is great lol, but it has worked much better as a second pram for me. I will say I rarely ever fold down the Cruz, the Yoyo now lives in our boot. If I were having to constantly fold it down into a car boot I might feel differently!
I actually was the opposite, I started off with a travel pram with a bassinet (Yoyo3) and ended up getting the Cruz when my baby was 5mo. I still use the Yoyo but the Cruz is my main one now bc the basket space is so much better and I hate having to carry things.
Haven't used the Vista but the Cruz is definitely very sturdy and pretty smooth.
I wanted to like the Stokke but it requires three different manoeuvres to get it closed 🤦🏼♀️
I got an Uppababy Vista and hardly use it anymore with my 14mo. I LOVED it when he was smaller but once he was happy being pushed around in his travel stroller (Stokke Yoyo) we stopped taking it out and when he got his Doona Liki trike we started using that for walks and stopped using the UB altogether. I plan on having a second so I’m holding onto it but it’s quite literally gathering dust at the moment.
We are also doing it again 7 years later! We just picked up adapters and a clek liing infant seat for a Yoyo, and are rolling without a travel system.
We’re also going to have a 19 month age gap in July. I’m leaning towards the Nuna Trvl Double but mostly because we currently own a Nuna Pipa infant seat and a Nuna Triv stroller. I also already own a Stokke Yo-yo so likely getting the ride on seat for that. I think you have to decide whether you want a tandem stroller (Mockingbird, Uppababy Vista, etc) or a side by side (Bombi, Zoe Twin, Bugaboo Donkey, etc). A lot of people also recommend wagons or jogging strollers but I’ve vetoed those options for myself personally.
The problem is you aren’t likely to find one single stroller that will fit all situations. We own 3 strollers right now - the Triv Next (love! Keeping this to use solely for the bassinet with our second coming in July), Stokke Yoyo for travel (I like this one, but don’t love the folding. Would probably get a Joolz Aer if I were to do it again), and the Nuna Trvl Double (haven’t used yet, had to buy this as we prepare for 2 under 2). We have also owned a Guava Roam as a jogging stroller (also love! My husband accidentally ran ours over) and the GB Pockit as our old travel stroller (was fine for the price point but the Yoyo is much higher quality). At the very least, I’d get a primary stroller and a travel stroller but that’s just my personal preference. I also personally don’t like tandem strollers for two kids. And last unsolicited opinion is the Doona isn’t approved for use in Canada due to safety concerns so that was enough for me to not choose the Doona even though that was my original dream seat/stroller.
