Once 6+ months, we used the Summer Infant 3D Lite umbrella stroller. They are less than $100 dollars and mine held up through two kids and lots of use. Very lightweight and easy to take anywhere. Enough storage space for diaper bag and essentials.

We got rid of our baby stroller as soon as we could and went with a Summer 3D lite umbrella stroller from then on out. So I would keep that in mind for how many times you might actually use this thing

We own two strollers - Uppababy Cruz v2 and Babyzen Yoyo (for travel and smaller trips). Since we’ve had kids, I’ve tried a few umbrella strollers including a really cheap Walmart one (bily?) and the Summer Infant 3D Lite. Hates both of them and sold them on the marketplace as soon as we go the Yoyo.

Ha! So many. 1. Bumbleride Indie - great all-purpose stroller for walks, jogs, snowy terrain, etc. 2. Mountain Buggy Nano - work horse travel stroller that can technically fit in most overhead bins (though we usually gate check it). Was nice to have when the kids were very small because it can lay flat. Terrible for snow and sand, but survived uneven paving, cobblestones, some mud, etc. I currently use this as a casual every day stroller and leave it in the back of my car. 3. Thule double chariot - for walks and jogs with both kids, especially useful in the winter because the large wheels are good in snow. 4. Summer Infant 3D Lite - bought this on a vacation that we were confident we could do without a stroller. 5. Cheap Red Kite umbrella stroller - another situation where I thought we could get by with a stroller for the big kid and a carrier for the baby, but gave up and bought the cheapest stroller we could find locally. If I could do it again, I'd get one nice jogging stroller (worth it for the maneuverability in rough terrain even if you don't plan on jogging) and then a cheaper, probably second hand umbrella stroller for casual use and short outings.

r/BabyBumpsCanada[QC] Do I really need the Uppababy travel system?

I had a 10 year old uppa baby and a summer 3d lite for my first. The uppa was a solid build, but too clunky. The summer infant was very agile. I ended up selling the uppa Baby 2 has a graco modes stroller and that thing is like driving around a grocery cart. Holds stuff, won’t break, but nothing smooth or performative about it. I was shocked to learn how much it cost brand new - I would never pay that. For the cost I’d get something nicer used, or something new that’s cheaper.

We just had a 3dlite stroller that we'd travel with. It folds up, reclines all the way back, and has a nice shade that comes down to cover almost the whole thing so was great for napping, etc. Used it until the boys were almost 3 so I can't imagine it wouldn't fit your 9 month old.

We have a Summer 3Dlite. My sister used it for her 2 kids, and now we've had it for 2 years. I can unfold it one handed ( pop the lock, pick it up, flick it like an umbrella, then there's a little thing you push with your foot). Folding can be done 1 handed, but requires some coordination. It reclines, and it's has a bunch of storage, but it's a little difficult to get stuff in and out. It's very light, which is great, but if you hang a diaper bag on the handle and your kid hops out, it will tip backwards. I got it for free, but if we ever break it, I will gladly buy another. With the money you've saved pick up a Summer folding high chair. It's been fantastic for traveling.

Baby #4 is 10 months and we have owned 6 different strollers. Our Evenflo Pivot system lasted us through 3 babies (5 years), then for baby 4 we got the pivot xpand but have since passed it on to another family. We currently use 2 Summer Infant 3d lite strollers. One lives in the van and the other at my work. This is my favourite on-the-job /umbrella stroller. We've bought both second hand with 0 problems. Highly recommend this as a reliable umbrella stroller once baby is out of the bucket seat. Our other current stroller is a double stroller/bike trailer. I don't use it much, but my husband tows the kids in it sometimes.

I have/had: Baby Jogger City Mini GT (hated, disintegrated after 18 months, will never recommend ever), replaced with Uppababy Vista (love it, it’s my workhorse, wish I’d bought it from the beginning), then had a Summer Infant 3D lite for an umbrella (hated, eventually sold), replaced with an Uppababy Minu V2 (loved it, replaced with V3 which I got specifically for the airplane overhead option, and in some ways slightly prefer the V2), and a Thule Chariot double (amazing for all the biking we do). Got the Vista when my son was 18 months old and he’s now 7.5 lol

I did the same trip with my 7 month old. I bought a stroller that fit overhead (mountain buggy nano) but I ended up gate checking it because I brought a carry on wheeled luggage. The stroller counts as your carry on baggage so keep that in mind. I didn’t have to wait much for the stroller when deplaning. It was sturdy enough for the time we were there, I still use it as our travel stroller 2 years later. You can always buy an even cheaper umbrella stroller like summer infant 3dlite and gate check it if you’re worried about damaging an expensive stroller. Eta: i wouldn’t overthink which compact stroller to bring. They will all do fine. I would recommend buying a travel stroller, they are worth not having the stress of your main stroller getting damaged. If I could do it again, I probably will just buy the cheaper umbrella stroller.
