Yes, you need a jogging stroller. 4 wheel strollers are trash for running with. They also don't have the right suspension, so baby gets bounced all over the place. Thule is, hands down, the superior running stroller brand.
lol I have literally 5 stroller variations. Hiking (BOB), running (Thule, worth every penny if you actually want to run with baby), skiing charriot (Thule), regular walking/shopping stroller (Babyjogger Cityselect), and a collapsible wagon for the beach and camping. I like them all and we have enough storage space in our garage, so we keep them. All except the wagon were second hand or free!
The Thule, hands down. It’s so much lighter than the BOB. I have both and prefer the Bob for trail hikes, but the Thule is better for sidewalks and groomed paths and it steers like a dream. This being said, the BOB is more “all purpose” (more storage) while the Thule is JUST running.
Fantastic product! But if you're active/sporty you'll probably need a second bigger/rugged stroller. The Doona is a brilliant piece of engineering. Seamless transitioning from driving to walking. You don't need to detach a stroller and put it in the trunk. Excellent modular base to clip into. But also easy to use with seatbelt in other cars/taxis. Amazing for global travel. The main thing about the slight extra weight is that you literally lift it out of car and release the wheels below. The lift should be for about 3 feet. Seemed pricey when I first looked at it. Now I think it was one of our best purchases. The negatives are that it has small wheels and no suspension. (This is a lightweight urban/travel solution). So if you like to walk/hike/run on loose surfaces it's not going to work. For these activities we bought a Thule Glide. It also has no storage by default. So you'll want the clip on essentials bag for diapers etc. and the clip on backpack for airplane travel.
I love my Thule!!
Once the baby is big enough for the Vista’s standard seat it gets a lot easier, so I don’t think we’ll buy a separate travel stroller. We did buy a Thule running stroller, which is FANTASTIC if you’re an avid runner/walker or go out and about and don’t need storage space. There is almost no storage but it rolls so smoothly and I love the hand break. It’s also great on uneven ground if you plan on going off cement
You don’t « need » 3 but it could be more comfortable. You do you! You could get a Thule Glide as an everyday/jogging stroller and get a smaller travel stroller. We have the Vista V2 and Bugaboo Butterfly for our 2 kids. I LOVE the Vista but the Butterfly is also amazing!
We have the uppa baby vista and a Thule bran glide jogging stroller- we got both on fb marketplace (highly recommend)- and I love to use the baby carrier when I’m going to places that aren’t super stroller friendly! My baby loves the carrier and I know I don’t have to navigate a clunky stroller through crowds or aisles! I love my wildbird aerial carrier so much and don’t find my back hurting from baby wearing for long periods! Also- baby wearing is so good for babies!
I highly suggest getting a good running stroller if that's your jam. The Thule is highly recommended and we have the mountain buggy terrain which is amazing! We have the bassinette which is sleep safe too, and with our previous kid was a life saver when he was tough to get to sleep. We could take him for a walk in the evening and just leave him in there asleep instead of having to try to transfer him. Because its big, we also have a travel pram. It folds up to smaller than carry on size, so takes up no space in the car. The running pram hardly ever gets folded up unless I want to take it out somewhere.
The Thule glide is incredible. I got a second hand one from Facebook market place - the original model - for about £150. My suggestions would be to only get one with the following : - a fixed wheel and don't waste your time with ones that have a pin to allow wheels to turn/lock in place. - the bigger the wheels the better basically I've ran 18+ km long runs with a sleeping toddler and done a 21min parkrun effort (5km) in the middle of it: there are always a bunch of dads with running buggies squaring each other up at the start line 😂 One thing I'd say though - you mention you have a six week old. Congrats obviously, but I think that's too young for any running buggies. Most advice is ~6 months when they can hold their head up.
