gotta push back on the Mountain Buggy Duet rec a little. the storage basket is genuinely small for twins and accessing it from the side when both seats are reclined is a pain. great for stroller width and wheel type wise it's solid w air tires but the suspension system isn't as good as the thule for any uneven terrain. its a great urban pick for double strollers but i wouldn't call it the obvious winner like a lot of reviews do
The Phil & Teds Duo Sport is decent for everyday use, but for actual jogging it can feel a bit heavy and less stable at pace. If you’re planning to run regularly, models like the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double or Out’n’About Nipper Double are much better for jogging – smoother ride, easier to steer, and lighter to push. Both also fold reasonably compactly. Since you’ll sometimes run with just the baby, check that the pram handles well with uneven weight distribution. Also worth measuring your boot space before buying – some doubles are long when folded.
I have a 3-wheel Thule Urban Glide, and I really like it. It has a hand brake, which makes it feel much safer going downhill. It's really nice that the new ones have a bassinet attachment- I have the 2nd generation, so we had to do a different stroller when our kid was really little. We bought our Thule second hand, and we haven't had any issues with it (we've been using it regularly for like 2.5 years). It handles really well on trails and grass, which is a nice perk.
I run 10-14 miles most days of the week and use the Thule urban glide. I bought an older model and then used my rei discount and got it at a really good price - still expensive but I use it every day in all weather and my little guy loves it! It’s easy to push and rolls very smoothly. I run road, rail to trail, rural gravel roads, and easy going double track trails. I adjust the tire pressure depending on what terrain, which admittedly can make it slower rolling, but makes it less bumpy for my child. Would recommend checking this out either used or on sale, or depending on your financial situation buy new.
Are you hoping to do infant inserts? I’m not sure if the Thule has car seat attachments or bassinet options for twins. We’ve had the bugaboo donkey and Thule. I’m a bigger fan of our Thule, personally, than the donkey. I like how it rides better, and it was so much cheaper than the donkey. That being said, if I had newborn twin again I would totally buy a stroller with double bassinet attachments. We got our donkey secondhand and it was a little broken (discovered after we got it). That notwithstanding I loved it for the newborn bassinets when they were little.
Get the urban glide if you live somewhere hilly as it has a hand break (I think mountain buggy also has one with a hand break). I have the double urban glide because I have twins and a singleton, and it's not compact enough for easy travelling (but maybe the single is better). Not having a hand break can be scary running down even a slight hill, and downright dangerous for steeper hills!
They honestly both have their merits. I have the uppababy vista, the Thule urban glide (side x side), and Thule chariot (side x side). I use the Thules for running and dog walks, but the main problem I'm having with side x side right now is just the amount of stroller drama (they are 12 months but this has been going on for a few months)..this includes biting, toy stealing, etc etc. The uppababy is good for the rare city outing (especially as they are still in their infant seats so they click right in), but I find it more difficult to steer, it is LONG (sorry door frames), and it has no breaks which I find incredibly useful living in a very hilly area!
