Yes to secondhand! We got our uppababy double stroller system for $450 used. I’ve also heard good things about Mockingbird.
From birth till 2 we flew with our Uppababy vista double. First with just the car seats and the bassinets, then just car seats and toddler/rumble seats, and then just the rumble seats and our non Uppababy car seat. We just flew again at 2.5 and switched to the Uppababy double umbrella stroller, I think it’s called g link v2 or something. Also our car seats. We loved the vista and it was so great for the airport. So easy to maneuver one handed and still push around luggage, or hold one fussy child. But it takes up more space in rental vehicles and we didn’t always want the necessary space for that. Plus we do Disney and needed something easier for getting on and off busses. So switching to the double umbrella stroller was perfect. It’s so easy, just folded down so nice and fits into one bag. Anyway we love our double strollers.
No regrets in our tandem. Loved having the options of bassinets or car seats in the beginning. The toddler seats on that one at least lay flat, so that was awesome. It went on multiple flights with us, Disney a few times, countless zoos, walks, and just general errands. It was easy to maneuver and I never had to worry about width. Only occasionally would its length need some extra attention in tight places. Never had concerned about one being on top or bottom. We just rotated and eventually let them pick where they sat. Hardly ever any fights over it. When our girls were 1, we did get two cheap umbrella strollers for the occasional use when we didn’t need a big one. If we each took one kid on our own errands for instance. Or to some sporting events when we wanted the ease of folding them down. Eventually we felt we outgrew the tandem and did get a double umbrella stroller, also Uppababy. Luckily this one is super narrow so never had any door frame worries there. I’m glad we stuck with our gut to get the tandem stroller, I’m sure I would have been annoyed a the cumbersome nature that a big side by side stroller appears to be.
We switched to the Uppababy G-link v2 double umbrella stroller when my girls were 2.5. It’s lightweight, super easy to pack up, and still great for travel with their travel bags. They are 40 inches tall right now and fit fine in the seats.
We have the Uppababy G Link V2 double stroller for travel & light use and will be getting a Bumbleride Indie double for any heavier duty walks, just waiting on one to come up on marketplace! I love the Indie (currently have a single) but that thing is a beast to transport. The Uppababy is so lightweight and folds almost flat!
Our first was 15 months when our second arrived. We baby wore out second most of the time and our first was on the stroller. We have the double stroller uppa baby, but it is bulky (and ridiculously expensive) we ended up getting a cheaper double from Amazon, the Dream On Me Twin Double by Volvo. The second can't use it until they had decent head control, but it lays back for each and fits through standard doorways better that other side-by-side strollers and super light weight. AND it doesn't break the bank. We
I traveled to Europe last summer with a 3yr old and 18 month old. I used the uppababy G-link double stroller. It was actually great, handled the cobble stone streets well and closes and opens up really easily. We took it on trains and fit inside the trunk of cabs easily. Has some storage underneath as well which is always handy. We still use this stroller regularly and kids are almost 5 and 2.5.
No doubt, traveling with two little ones is tough enough, and bulky strollers just add to the stress. But you can definitely find lightweight, versatile strollers that include bassinets and work with infant car seats. Models like the UPPAbaby G-Link V2 and Baby Jogger City Tour 2 fold compactly, are easy to maneuver, and switch from single to double easily. As a mom, I totally get the overwhelm of endless stroller research, [this thread with top double stroller](https://www.reddit.com/r/KeepThisInMind/comments/1lourwj/recommend_the_best_double_strollers_for_travel/) reviews really helps clear things up and can make your travels smoother.
Keep the minu for solo trips with 1 kid for a while! Mine are now 4.5/3 and we still use our single travel stroller occasionally! We also had Vista and used that near daily for the first 2yrs for rugged neighborhood walks (rural area), and then got a travel side-by-side double (uppababy glink) we still use even as our oldest approaches 5. The bombi twin looks like it could solve the combo of Vista / travel though so if I were starting fresh I’d try that!
We have the uppababy g luxe for our travel luxe for our travel stroller and it has all of the features you’re looking for. I’m pregnant now and purchased the uppababy g- link which is the double version of the g luxe. Our daughter is 3 and can easily get in and out of it by herself, it has a good recline, and also has a large basket.
100%. Our oldest doesn't sit in the stroller much but was enough that we needed up upgrade our Uppababy to a side by side. While I love the Zoe, it's nowhere near as convenient as the in-line one was.
We Love the uppababy 2 with our 20 month age gap. We got the Daloda adapter so bassinet can be on top with toddler below/in front. EASY to use solo on middle/normal clip and easy to use in double format when taking both kids.
