Used an uppababy side-by-side umbrella stroller that folded up easily and didn't weigh a ton from the time they were 18 months until they were about 2.5. When it became to heavy to push on the little wheels and getting through doors was even more of a nightmare than before, we switched to a wagon and haven't looked back. \*\*edit to say: the Uppababy one was galled G-link V2, I just looked it up. we bought it for a trip and ended up using it for our day to day lives as well.
Yes to secondhand! We got our uppababy double stroller system for $450 used. I’ve also heard good things about Mockingbird.
From birth till 2 we flew with our Uppababy vista double. First with just the car seats and the bassinets, then just car seats and toddler/rumble seats, and then just the rumble seats and our non Uppababy car seat. We just flew again at 2.5 and switched to the Uppababy double umbrella stroller, I think it’s called g link v2 or something. Also our car seats. We loved the vista and it was so great for the airport. So easy to maneuver one handed and still push around luggage, or hold one fussy child. But it takes up more space in rental vehicles and we didn’t always want the necessary space for that. Plus we do Disney and needed something easier for getting on and off busses. So switching to the double umbrella stroller was perfect. It’s so easy, just folded down so nice and fits into one bag. Anyway we love our double strollers.
No regrets in our tandem. Loved having the options of bassinets or car seats in the beginning. The toddler seats on that one at least lay flat, so that was awesome. It went on multiple flights with us, Disney a few times, countless zoos, walks, and just general errands. It was easy to maneuver and I never had to worry about width. Only occasionally would its length need some extra attention in tight places. Never had concerned about one being on top or bottom. We just rotated and eventually let them pick where they sat. Hardly ever any fights over it. When our girls were 1, we did get two cheap umbrella strollers for the occasional use when we didn’t need a big one. If we each took one kid on our own errands for instance. Or to some sporting events when we wanted the ease of folding them down. Eventually we felt we outgrew the tandem and did get a double umbrella stroller, also Uppababy. Luckily this one is super narrow so never had any door frame worries there. I’m glad we stuck with our gut to get the tandem stroller, I’m sure I would have been annoyed a the cumbersome nature that a big side by side stroller appears to be.
We switched to the Uppababy G-link v2 double umbrella stroller when my girls were 2.5. It’s lightweight, super easy to pack up, and still great for travel with their travel bags. They are 40 inches tall right now and fit fine in the seats.
We have the Uppababy G Link V2 double stroller for travel & light use and will be getting a Bumbleride Indie double for any heavier duty walks, just waiting on one to come up on marketplace! I love the Indie (currently have a single) but that thing is a beast to transport. The Uppababy is so lightweight and folds almost flat!
We have the Uppababy G-link V2 stroller and love it! It's super compact when folded and very comfortable for both my 11 month old and 2.5 year old.
The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is clutch for travel - folds down pretty small and isn't a total nightmare to push around airports. We switched to it after our regular double stroller nearly broke my back trying to get it in overhead bins lol.
I traveled to Europe last summer with a 3yr old and 18 month old. I used the uppababy G-link double stroller. It was actually great, handled the cobble stone streets well and closes and opens up really easily. We took it on trains and fit inside the trunk of cabs easily. Has some storage underneath as well which is always handy. We still use this stroller regularly and kids are almost 5 and 2.5.
