I wonder if the strollers are different in different markets (or regulated differently). In the US, the V3 is considered safe for infants. I got an old V2 anyway bc I wanted to use the bassinet.

Uppababy minu v2 was perfect for us - price point, one the smaller side (vs vista), and I could easily carry it up and down stairs (we live on the second floor) and didn’t take up the entire trunk of my hatchback. Our friend has the bassinet they no longer needed so that was a win for us.

I don’t like my minu V2. I wish I had bought the bugaboo butterfly instead.

The minu’s backboard seat is super flimsy. It literally feels like cardboard wrapped in fabric. My baby had a hard time sitting straight in it. Somehow it forces her to slide forward. It’s a good looking stroller but the seat is junk. My friend has the butterfly and the seat just looks so much comfier.

mom of one with a second on the way -- If it markets itself as newborn ready, I think that recline should be fine. the "flat" idea is just so they dont slide around. don't get the metro+, unless they've made improvements I haven't seen to the canopy -- you'll want lots of shade for your newborn. i LOVE my original Minu (and would love the V2 even more), but the Joolz Aer is slightly more travel-friendly if that is important to you. It is small enough to bring into the airplane cabin if you're concerned about gate checking and is lighter/smaller. And you are smart to prioritize one-hand fold, that is crucial! And the reason I do NOT like the YoYo.

Agree with the minu. The fold down for the v and v2 are still pretty easy if you don’t want to wait or want something cheaper used.

We love our Minu v2 (v3 came out the week after we purchased ours). I love how light and compact it is. I take it on 3+ miles a lot and use the Bassinet attachment since our baby is 3mo. LOVE the one handed collapse. I kind of wish we got the v3 but overall I love it. Edited to add that this is our only stroller and the only one I intend on having. I’d rather have one that does most things really well than have multiple ones that do a single thing excellently.

Thoughts about the uppababy MINUs - Minu v1 I think this is the only version that has a collapsible bassinet option. I do not think you can buy this version from uppababy anymore or the bassinet accessory. I’ve seen these floating around Facebook marketplace sometimes. - Minu v2: uppababy just stopped making Minu v2s but all the accessories are still available at their website, and lots of Minu v2s are still in stock in most retailers and goodbuygear. I previously had a Minu v2 and I absolutely loved it. You can get car seat adapters so it can be compatible with uppababy’s car seat and bassinet attachment (which is safe sleep approved), and then at 3mo you can start using the regular seat. The only thing is you need to uninstall the fabric seat to use the bassinet with the adapters, but I didn’t need the fabric seat at the time anyways. -Minu v3: uppababy just released this version, it is about the size of the bugaboo butterfly now so it can go on the overhead compartment of the plane. It has sturdier wheels than the butterfly and is “newborn friendly.” Unfortunately uppababy decided not to make the traditional bassinet compatible with this stroller, but the seat almost lies flat so it’s “not necessary.” It does have car seat adapters though so that is helpful. None of the minus have reversible seats. But the Minu v2 has the bassinet that you can have facing toward you. Note on the YOYOs: I have less experience with the yo-yo, but i briefly used the newborn attachment and I really found it handy. It was nice to have a super compact stroller in tight spaces where I could potentially lay my little one for a nap in a friends house or restaurant. The yo-yo also has a bassinet shell that can be used, and car seat adapters for the nuna. However I think you have to use one adapter/set at a time (you can’t keep the newborn attachment on under and attach the car seat on top. ) The yo-yo2 and 3 frame is the same, but the yoyo3 fabric seat has a much better shade coverage. If you get the full stroller and a newborn pack separately, definitely get the yoyo3 and not a yoyo2. Alternatively you can get the yoyo2 and separately buy a yoyo3 color pack.

I’m so excited for the minu v3! I used the minu v2 with an adaptor for my newborn so I could use the bassinet and car seat. So if for any reason you don’t like the v3’s newborn features, I would say get the adapters. The minu is so travel friendly I love it!

I do really like the uppababy bassinet. I used it on the Minu V2 (v3 I think comes with a different bassinet) with my first and have just bought a used Vista off fb marketplace so I can use it as a double stroller with my second. I kind of prefer the Minu though, much more agile and easier to steer in the city and it worked great with the bassinet with adapters. The V2 minu is also within the price range you wanted, and you can often find the bassinet on either an FB buy nothing group (which we did) or can buy one used on marketplace

We own an absurd amount of strollers because I tried to make one stroller work for everything. Spoiler alert, it didn’t work. We have a Cruz for everyday use since it holds a lot and is great for hauling stuff to the park. We also have a Minu V2 and a Yoyo. I love the Minu because it’s super sturdy and has a big basket but hate that you have to remove the wheels if you want to put in in the UB travel bag (doesn’t fit in all overhead bins). The Yoyo is great since it does fit in the overhead but not nearly as sturdy and the basket is much smaller. We had a bassinet adapter for the MINu and loved it since it was great for outings with the baby and he could nap flat. I wonder if they work with the V3 if you wanted to use it instead of the seat. Facing out would have been a deal breaker for me with a newborn.

Yoyo is great for travel but I would never use it as my everyday. The open and close is a pain and the basket is tiny. We only use for flying. I love our Minu though which is also lightweight and compact but is way more sturdy, has a sizable basket and pushes so nicely.

You asking what from birth kit, right? The stroller plus basinette package.  It's a smaller shop but go to Mini Jake in williamsburg to shop strollers. They will be honest about what stroller is best for your lifestyle and apartment. I heard them tell a couple not to buy a Vista because they don't have a car and live in a walkup.  Something to keep in mind, those big strollers, Cruz and Vista, won't fit through the aisles of a corner store or a boutique. You also won't be able to lift it without help. One day, your newborn will be a toddler get something you can carry folded with one hand. The other hand is for your child's hand.  Baby Jogger City Mini and Uppababy Minu both have a decent size basket and and are in your budget.

Depends on where you live. I live in an walk-up apartment in a city, no car. If that's you too, Minu V2 plus mesa carseat. Get it open-box or gently used on Goodbuy gear, Rebelstork or your local FB parenting group.  Most importantly whatever you buy triple check it's PFAS-free. PFAS is in most stroller and carseat brands.

I have a travel stroller. Most people I know stopped using a full or mid-size stroller by the time their child reached 18 months. They bought a travel stroller. I did a ton of stroller research. I tried a lot of friends strollers. The Yoyo is tricky to close and has a small basket. I don’t like it. The aer also has a tiny basket. I had a Minu, not the strollers fault, someone crushed it by dropping their full size stroller on it at daycare. I replaced it with the Butterfly because my son is tall. I prefer the Minu. It folds even with stuff in the basket that's not the case with most travel strollers. Full and mid size strollers don't fit in boutique or cornerstone aisles. So you'll be leaving it outside. Also remember your 8 month old will be a 2 year old. Not all subway stations have elevators. You can't carry a mid-size stroller by yourself. You want something you can carry with one hand your child's hand in the other.

I live in Greenpoint, don't get the Vista if you like popping into bookstores or independent boutiques in the neighborhood. The Vista won't fit through the aisles. I love Uppababy. I loved the Minu. So if you want everything Uppababy, do the Cruz for grocery runs and long walks and Minu for when you are taking the train or travel. Best part of Uppababy's line is they phased out PFAS. If you don't know what PFAS is google it. It's a hormone disrupting, carciongenic chemical. It's in a shocking amount of baby products from bibs, to mattress covers. Whatever stroller and carseat you choose, make sure you do research to make sure there's no PFAS in it.

Between the two. Pick the Yoyo. It's much lighter. The Swiv is heavy.  Although I recommend the Minu instead. You can lift it without help. Even if you don't take the subway much, New York has a lot of stairs. You want to be able to lift your stroller and your baby. The Minu is 7 lbs lighter than the Swiv. That might not seem like much but for strollers that's a huge difference.  Minu has a much bigger basket than the yoyo and other compact strollers like Aer and Butterfly and it still folds relatively small. It even folds when there is stuff in the basket.  It feels sturdier and more balanced when you push it in comparison to other compact strollers. The basinett is sturdy too. You can clip in the Mesa carseat easily.  Most importantly the Minu and Mesa are PFAS free. PFAS is a toxic chemical that is in a shocking amount of baby products.

I know you adamantly against a lightweight stroller but your baby is 6 months old. Your baby will become a heavy toddler and those lightweight options won't feel so rickety. Trust me when I tell you that everyone I know who got a SUV stroller like the Cruz or the Vista ended up using a lightweight stroller by 1-18 months. I've seen this play out at my child's daycare too.  I had the Uppababy Minu. It is sturdy. Baby Jogger City Tour is good too. They are lightweight but feel more substantial.  All that being said, there is a reason why you see so many Yoyos, Aers, and Butterflies. They are great for 2-4 year olds. Yes by that age they will walk well but they also can't walk 10 blocks without getting tired. The Yoyo is 12.5 lbs and folds the flattest. It's ideal for carrying on a strap while holding your child's hand on the stairs.  You don't want to depend on the elevator on the train. Most stations don't have them and they are disgusting.

I had the Minu. I loved it! My only complaint is the raincover from uppababy really sucks. Get a "universal rain cover" from Amazon. Make sure to get the basinet attachment. The Minu actually has a pretty big basket compared to other compact strollers. Just make sure to carry a packable backpack and put in in the stroller pocket. I know you say you order online but with a baby or toddler you always are running out something that you need immediately. Don't get me started on the formula shortage... I don’t know a single person who had a Vista that didn't get a lightweight stroller 1-6 months after their child's first bday. I know people get it if they plan to have two kids. But, the max weight for the lower seat is pretty low, and I've never actually seen a child over 2 in a Vista in my neighborhood. You do not need a huge stroller. You will not be able to carry the Vista (or the Cruz for that matter) up any stairs by yourself. And when they are 2-2.5 yrs you'll be holding their hand while two other adults carry the stroller up the stairs.  Not to mention, the Vista and Cruz do not fit through the aisles of a boutique. Which means if your baby falls asleep in the stroller, you have to take the baby out, risking that he/she will wake up, and leave the stroller outside.
