We went to a store and tried a few strollers and fell in love with the uppababy ridge. It’s great to steer, and has one hand fold. Really good off road
r/NewParents • Jogging strollers for hiking? ->I think this depends on what city you live in and how much walking you’ll be doing day-to-day. We have and love our Vista (LOVED the bassinet but baby outgrew it by 3 months) and have taken it to DC a few times with no issues but it was a pain to have in NYC (smaller doorways, lots of subway stations had elevator outages). You say you have a car so maybe public transportation doesn’t apply! Before having a baby I scoffed at people who said you need multiple strollers, but now I totally get it (we have the Vista, a jogging stroller - UPPAbaby Ridge - for trails/beach, and will buy a travel stroller before we fly with baby). If I lived in a bigger city I’d want the Vista for walking the park and running a full day of errands and a light travel stroller for quick errands or daycare pickup. The storage space under the Vista is huge compared to what you’ll get with a travel stroller, and I personally think the Doona wheels are rickety/feel cheap (same with UPPAbaby knockoff Mockingbird). It’s a trade off!
r/beyondthebump • Best stroller/travel system ->My advice is buy at least one stroller, but brace yourself for wanting others down the line. We tried out the Bob and UPPAbaby Ridge and definitely preferred the latter for our jogging stroller. And personally I think you’ll want an everyday stroller too (either one that has a large storage space underneath if you’re shopping OR a light travel stroller for quick in and out errands).
r/beyondthebump • Stroller Question ->Same here! We got the Uppababy Ridge because we knew we’d be doing a lot of walks with the dog, who likes to play in the field. I ended up with a c section and couldn’t lift the Ridge into the car for a long time without pain so we got the Minu as well and I’m SO glad we did. It’s small and perfect for going into stores. It lives in my the car unless I’m driving somewhere for a walk.
r/NewParents • Strollers - what did you wish you knew before you bought? ->Love our Ridge stroller. Bought it for the sturdy tires and it’s great in the snow. Although I’ve heard the Thules are a bit more stable.
r/BabyBumpsCanada • [ON] How many strollers did you end up having? ->Depends how your going to be using your stroller. If your going to be walking/jogging down that dirt road regularly or be in rural areas a lot, your gonna want some sort of jogger stroller or something with inflatable wheels. If your going to keep it in your vehicle and use it for when your going shopping in the city, going out to eat, and use it for an urban sort of lifestyle, with tad bits of times you walk the stroller on gravel, grass, etc, maybe a good all terrain full stroller with good suspension like Uppababy Cruz, Nuna Mixx Next, Bugaboo Fox 5. If you want something more budget friendly in this category maybe the Chicco Corso or Bravo stroller,Graco Modes Nest 2 grow. Jogger strollers include BabyJogger city mini gt, Thule Urban Glide, Guava Roam, Uppababy Ridge, etc. A carseat is 100% necessary, so no matter what, that should be the 1st thing you look at. Find 1 you like, then look at what strollers its compatible with (usually you might have to buy a separate adapter if you use a different brand of carseat from the stroller). You can always look at what strollers already come as part of a bundled travel system with that carseat. But before you even get started looking at carseats, you need to make a decision ifbyour going to use an Infant Carseat (pill bug looking seats), or a convertible carseat (the big ones that stay in a vehicle), or both.
r/Buyingforbaby • Best travel system fit for all terrain? ->3 if you consider a trike a stroller. We have the UB Ridge for daily walks in our suburban/rural neighbourhood, UB Minu as our car/travel stroller and the Doona Trike that my toddler has been loving since 14m old. This “stroller system” works pretty well and cover our needs.
r/BabyBumpsCanada • [ON] How many strollers did you end up having? ->I had the ridge and ended up selling it. The fact that it has no footrest and thus lacking the ability to bring it up for smaller babies was a deal breaker for me
r/BabyBumpsCanada • I Tried Multiple All-Terrain Strollers in Person - My Thoughts! [on] ->We have the Uppababy Minu V2, Joolz Aer+, Uppababy Ridge (jogging stroller) and Uppababy Cruz (hand me down from 2015). I was really adamant about getting a travel stroller because I didn’t want anything bulky to have to take in and out of my car and we do like to travel (fly) quite a bit. I started with the Uppababy Minu V2 as the stroller I thought would be my primary. I had bought into the Mesa V2 car seat as well to make a travel system in the early days. It was fine, but the stroller wasn’t user friendly (two hands to unfold, not super easy to fold), my baby never liked actually sitting in the seat, and it wasn’t great for travel (we got the Uppababy travel bag but you had to remove the back wheels to fit in, and it’s too big for the overhead compartment on the plane) so much so that I have no confidence that I would be able to travel with baby alone without my husband. This was probably my single biggest regret in terms of baby purchases. I’ve heard the V3 may have fixed some of these problems, but I’d go with a stroller brand that’s known for travel strollers. In my opinion, Uppababy is known for the Vista. Our friend got us the Joolz Aer+ (very generous!) and we love it. Once baby was out of the infant car seat and thus we didn’t need the travel system, this became our go-to - in and out of the car for outings and for travel, also works for neighborhood walks. We got the Uppababy Ridge since we wanted a jogging stroller and we love this as well! More user friendly than other jogging strollers (no need to inflate the tires), and a super smooth ride. Greta for jogging, but also became our go-to for neighborhood walks. Super easy to go over railroad tracks, large sidewalk cracks/unevenness (travel strollers will struggle here and you may need to lift up the front wheels to get over them). We don’t use the Uppababy Cruz much to be honest, since we used the other instead, but nothing against it. If I had to do it all over again, I’d just get the Joolz Aer+ for car outings and travel and the Uppababy Ridge for neighborhood walks and early travel system compatibility. If I had to pick just one, I’d do the Joolz Aer+ and find a car seat that’s compatible with it so it can be used as a travel system.
r/NewParents • Stroller Recs ->1) Uppababy Vista (primary single stroller) 2) Uppababy Minu (travel stroller) 3) Uppababy Ridge (single jogging stroller) 4) Bob Revolution Flex 3.0 (double jogging stroller) We use all four for different purposes since I don’t have a car on weekdays. Love all four of them.
r/NewParents • What kind of/how many strollers do people have? ->This is what we have done too. I have the Uppababy Ridge for my big stroller for neighbourhood walks or trails etc. And I have an Ergobaby Metro Plus as the stroller I use around town - it folds up really small so it's great to leave in the car & can be folded & tucked under the table when going out to restaurants!
