Also a FTM, we are going with the Uppababy ridge. I’ve seen it/ tested it person and it’s the most compact and aesthetic of the jogging stroller IMO. I bought a used Uppababy bassinet off Facebook marketplace to use in the newborn phase. Also they just upgraded it to include more ventilation which is nice as we live in the south. Thule and Bob just seemed bulky and ugly, if that matters to you!
I feel like I’m supposed to like the Thule Urban glide better because it’s always top rated, or BoB. But I went to Bambi Baby to compare and like the Uppababy Ridge way better! I know the Thule is lighter but I found the brake more annoying and the stroller much more difficult to fold! The BoB way finder seat felt cheap- didn’t have the revolution flex to try. The Ridge felt easier to brake, more comfortable handlebar material, easier harness, and much easier stroller folding mechanism and front wheel lock and unlock mechanism. Plus I liked the phone pocket and water bottle holder! Are there others who agree with me so I’m not going crazy! Plus I have the UB car seat that I can get the adapters for.
Came here to say this! Had a BOB, Uppababy and Thule and the Thule was the absolute best!
Have you considered the uppababy ridge? You can add the bassinet to it. It about the same size as the Cruz maybe slightly bigger when folded but will handle any terrain. If I could redo my stroller picks I would have gotten the ridge to begin with and not gotten the cybex gazelle. I would look at a travel stroller for keeping in the car that will take up less space. There’s a lot that have newborn reclines built in or bassinet attachements now.
You’ll probably end up with more than one stroller coming from someone that has gone through 4 in a year before finally finding what I like. If you want to just pop the car seat on something when doing quick trip look at getting a second small stiller, the Graco ready2jet it’s like $150 and you can just keep it in the car the Graco seats just clip onto it. And then get the Nuna or uppababy for the bigger outing/when they out grow there infant seat (my baby was in a convertible at 6 months) I keep my travel stroller in my car and use my bigger Bob for longer walks and stuff.
We went to a store and tried a few strollers and fell in love with the uppababy ridge. It’s great to steer, and has one hand fold. Really good off road
I think this depends on what city you live in and how much walking you’ll be doing day-to-day. We have and love our Vista (LOVED the bassinet but baby outgrew it by 3 months) and have taken it to DC a few times with no issues but it was a pain to have in NYC (smaller doorways, lots of subway stations had elevator outages). You say you have a car so maybe public transportation doesn’t apply! Before having a baby I scoffed at people who said you need multiple strollers, but now I totally get it (we have the Vista, a jogging stroller - UPPAbaby Ridge - for trails/beach, and will buy a travel stroller before we fly with baby). If I lived in a bigger city I’d want the Vista for walking the park and running a full day of errands and a light travel stroller for quick errands or daycare pickup. The storage space under the Vista is huge compared to what you’ll get with a travel stroller, and I personally think the Doona wheels are rickety/feel cheap (same with UPPAbaby knockoff Mockingbird). It’s a trade off!
My advice is buy at least one stroller, but brace yourself for wanting others down the line. We tried out the Bob and UPPAbaby Ridge and definitely preferred the latter for our jogging stroller. And personally I think you’ll want an everyday stroller too (either one that has a large storage space underneath if you’re shopping OR a light travel stroller for quick in and out errands).
Our baby is 18 months and we have a Ridge and a Minu. Both get plenty of use depending on the situation. Different strokes for different folks.
Love our Ridge stroller. Bought it for the sturdy tires and it’s great in the snow. Although I’ve heard the Thules are a bit more stable.
