I regret buying the one, mostly as I want the flexibility of having both the 1 and 2 person. But you can't buy the two separately. Which means I now need to get a second.

Yeah, they're great tents, really easy to setup, super easy to pack away. Light, efficient and nicely made. I just should have made a better decision. Ill just have to live, learn and buy more tents.

Haha yep, I've been grilled! Good for the stated purpose, probably wouldn't want it in proper winter conditions - but if you're doing that you will want a dedicated winter tent

Alpkit Tarpstar. Light, especially in tarp configuration. Packs small. Large covered area for rain. Pyramid shape is great in wind. Loads of room. If you want to maximise versatility buy the 2p version and then the seperate 1p inner. This lets you have the full tent for 2 people or just the 1p inner so half the tent is a covered vestibule for kit.

I bought a tarpster 2 last year. Love it for it's lack of weight and space but I'm 6'2 and feel it's slightly on the short side. The pole in middle means no diagonal sleeping

When/where what weather in the UK?  Getting miles in day after day or just "wild camping" ?  Ease of pitch and small  footprint size is good for long days. For long solo trips I still prefer and mostly use my Silnylon Tarptent Notch .  I have also owned the Durston Drop Xmid 1P since 2019 which is also good but has a larger footprint.  I had a Gatewood Cape find it too small and poor build quality I needed to repair it after just a few trips. Stitching failed undertention on tie outs and one of the main zip seams. Newer batches may be better built.  If you want something very good in the wind and don't mind the footprint size,  a Trailstar is a good choice. Can get a separate inner or use a splashbivi. The Alpkit Tarpstar isn't too bad for as budget.   I would avoid the DD Tarps pyramid as it's not big and poor build.

Alpkit Tarpstar, with the condition that there’s a pole right in the middle, and there’s basically zero headroom at the edges. But it does have a surprising amount of space and is very light.

Alpkit Tarpstar might work? The four man tent has a 2 man inner but is out of stock. Used mine in the Lakes, Scotland and US and it’s decent.
