I have an Alps Lynx 1-person tent ($124.99 on Amazon). I use this when I am camping with my motorcycle. I can assure you this thing is durable. First night I used it, I was in Texas with tornado watches issued. 70 mph wind gusts, 40 to 50 mph sustained winds over 4 hours. I had to hold onto the poles as the wind whipped it around. Nonetheless, the thing had no rips and no leaks. It's a sound tent for long term use. Enough space in it to toss a pack in too.
Alps is awesome. I’ve had a Lynx 1 for a long time now. About to pick up my new Alps bag to take back to the AT. I also have a 30L, 20 degree mummy, and the day blanket.
I love my Alps tent and they’re not too expensive.
Personally I have two Gazelle knock offs that are just absolute chefs kiss. Unfortunately that company sucks and they don’t make them anymore. I would be hesitant to buy an Ozark Trail tent, but I do have a $30 tent from Academy that I use for outdoor storage and it stays surprisingly dry. I love my Alps tent, and I think it was Eric on YouTube that did a budget trip and the Featherstone tent he really liked.
I've spent a lot of time in my Alps Mountaineering tent. It's not the best quality, or lightest, or cheapest, but it's the best of all 3. Great quality, not too bad on the price, and very easy to set up.
Alps Lynx 1 (4 lbs) fits perfectly on a Thermarest Luxury Lite cot large (4.68 lbs). Not UL. But around 10 lbs with a pillow, pad, and quilt.
Friend and I both bought the Lynx 1-person tents. Have been used on a handful of backpacking trips over the years and no issues yet!
Five... I need to sell a few of them... The one I've used the most lately is my Alps Mountaineering Lynx 1 for solo backpacking trips. Just got a Naturehike Mongar 2 to test out.
I got a one person Alps mountaineering tent from Amazon about ten years ago for $80. One of my best all time purchases. Its not the lightest, but its durable, easy to set up, and packs down nicely. I still use it regularly and I literally work for Backcountry with amazing pro deals on top gear.
